- Hi, here is an instrumental I recorded in 2012 when I was 14. I’m so glad i found it.
I listen and I can tell exactly what i was listening to on every car big car journey to see an air display as our family are big fans of planes, helicopters and jets.
Sadly i had very cheap microphones for the drums but it could be worse. I am so proud of the hi hat swing and enjoy hearing that I was playing like that on the hi hat at age 14… recently I was feeling like a phoney for attemptting fancy patterns from a funk style i wasn’t brought up but I’ve been trying since like 8 so it’s not a complete appropriation as i had recently feared.
I keep trying to write vocals to it but my voice I feel spoils the track. So 12 years later…here it is still without vocals but i like it without.
I hear the so called music of today and then I listen too yours. And it just blows me away. ❤
Thank you!! Are you talking about other rock artists or about the charts?
I notice theres not much soloing or complex playing in rock currently which i think is what made rock enjoyable and have longevity and now its more like pop but played on guitar
@@JamesBellx Mainly the charts. Most have no meaning to the lyrics.
@@Phil-jz8gs yes and its very recycled cliche phrases
Delightful personal intro and smiles. Surely FLYING on this one. To produce a Powerhouse track at 14 - remarkable - plus showing already a work-ethic for perseverance (5th day).
On first listen track immediately sounded fresh, confident and different - with short guitar phrases… variations … kicking drums and high hat. Then an added bonus - WAH-WAH looping-the-loop - and B-I-G F-I-N-I-S-H with Rotor blades turning?? 🚁🚁🚁 !!! Well structured - well done, 14 year-old, James. 🎸🥁👏👏👏👏
Loved your jamming at the Marshall factory!
Im so happy you remember that!! Thanks for saying!
Great retro look at your early days. Love all of your work, especially in public. Cheers to you from Chris in San Francisco
Thank you! I hope you like the version i record with vocals if i ever dare to post it. My Dad is also a Chris. I was obsessed with saying San Fransisco when I was 7. Hope to go there one day!
Thanks again
@@JamesBellx We'd welcome you and your dad's visit. In the meantime, check out Yoshi's and SFJazz online.
Impressive at any age… but at 14 an order of magnitude beyond impressive.
Cool music James. Keep it going.
Thank you Steve!!
The force is strong in this one 😂❤
