  • Couple things I forgot to mention in the video:
    Manufacturer recommends 150 PSI to operate this machine. I have a 60 gallon compressor that only goes to 135 PSI and it runs fine.
    This machine is in really good shape and only cost me $250 on Craigslist. A few uses and its paid for.
    That's where I normally buy my tires from for CHEAP!
    The bead holding tool is called "the yellow thing" It goes on the rim the opposite way I show in the video.

    I spent two years on this machine. Me and my buddy got to the point where we could do four new tires, mounted, balanced and washed in 5 minutes flat from starting the car in the parking lot to delivering it back to the customer.

      Nice! They take a little practice but once you get the hang of it it goes pretty easy!

      @@euonymus1980 Just a matter of maximizing the multitasking the machine affords.

    Thanks for posting. Brings back fond memories of my Dads tire shop when I was a kid. I've changed many tires on a COATS 20/20 starting at prolly 7yrs old possibly younger LOL. I'm 53 now & remember my Dad buying it brand new in the early 70's. It's an excellent tire machine & never broke down after decades of use. They didn't have hardly anything wider than a GR60-15 or 14 back then and mostly steel wheels. I think G50-15 or 14 was the widest tires in those days. If you push down with your left hand on the bead of the tire hard while spinning the bar/installing the last tire bead over the wheel lip you won't need to use that yellow wheel lock type device you showed in the video because holding down that 2nd tire bead using good arm strength keeps the tire bead from contacting the larger diameter inner wheel lip built into MOST (not all) wheels allowing the tire to go on easier because it doesn't have to stretch as far to slip on the wheel. They don't stretch much anyway because of the large diameter steel cables molded into the beads of the tires. I'd like to buy a COATS 20/20 for my garage someday if found @ a reasonable price.

    What is the selector lever right next to the top bead breaker. My decal is long gone. Is it for different size wheels?

    • @euonymus1980
      @euonymus1980  Před 3 lety

      Yes that is correct. It says....forward position for all wheels except wheel widths 15"x 4-4 1/12, 16"x 5- 5 1/2, and 17.5x 5 1/2-6 1/2 If you give me your email I can send you a picture of the decal if that helps.

    Just picked up a FMC 760 paid 225 which I am happy about .starting a small tire shop any tips if I am doing an aluminum rims. Was told it can be done successfully. Thanks for sharing

      Dale Ramage aluminum rims get kind of tricky. They do sell protectors for the removal tool on eBay for about $7 for a six pack. They work okay but have a tendency to keep falling off as it spins around the rim. I've done aluminum's before just have to be extremely careful it doesn't take much to bend / damage them. If they're your own it's not such a big deal but if you're doing them for other people or customers that could be very complicated. Also that bead holding tool that I show in the video is almost a must with aluminum's as the tire has a tendency to spin I believe I bought that on no Mar. Com but ken-tool makes a brass one as well.

    Just bought a COATS 2020 Super Sar at a farm auction yesterday for $150. All it needs is an air pressure gauge. I looked on-line and the only one I found that fits this model costs $73.00. Does anyone know where I can find one cheaper? Thanks

    • @euonymus1980
      @euonymus1980  Před 3 lety

      I'm assuming you have your bead Blaster hooked up to that? Mine does not have on air pressure gauge because my bead Blaster is not hooked up or connected to it . do you have a picture of the gauge that you could post?
