the blocking and camera movement of the first part of this scene is actually so amazing. you can tell the director comes from theater because his framing and blocking throughout the film are genius.
i also love the long uncut shot at the end where they let the moment rest and have henry just LOOKING at alex for a long stretch while his face cycles through emotions. most movies wouldn’t edit the scene that way but it adds so much.

I totally agree. The choice to do that slow walk and appreciating look adds so much to the scene. Some directors would just skip it to just go straight to the next scene, but letting the feelings of both Alex and Henry just linger a little bit, seeing how Henry just visibly goes through all the emotions this has unearthed and unlocked. Wonderfull. Also not just in this scene, but other scenes in the movie as well. It's scene's like this that establish the relationship between them and makes it even more believable.

I love how many scenes are uncut and long. Like the first scene here is about 50 seconds uncut! This has to be so much harder because they have to film the whole scene again if they mess it up! And it is an intimate scene. So they really do have great chemistry, otherwise this wouldn’t be possible.

I would think that the way this moved so fast was completely unrealistic if not for the fact this LITERALLY happened to my older brother, thought they hated each other for months, found out it was UST, got together less then a month later. He and his husband have been married of over a decade and have 3 kids. So it wasn’t to far of the point😅😅

Yeah, it seems slightly unrealistic in the movie. But the pacing in book was fine and more realistic. This was bound to happen as they had to fit a 9 hour read in a 2 hour movie.

I absolutely love this movie I have watched it multiple times already and can never get over the actors chemistry, they did such a great job and it's just incredible. I loved the book a lot and was thrilled they were making a movie and despite some of the big changes it's still a great and close adaptation, instantly one of my favorite movies every now ❤❤❤

It was a cute and funny moment and as James Bond fan, I'd love to say the catchphrase to my lover... Though I'm still single and waiting for my own Alex and Henry. These two are just funny, amazing, beautiful, sexy, and the chemistry between Taylor and Nicholas is wow. ❤

I love that Henry has to not do a happy dance when Alex said he's bi, it would definitely be possible Alex was just experimenting and couldve left it at that. Even though Henry never thought they would truly be together due to his having to stay in the closet, it still would've made him so happy that he could pretend with Alex for a while.
