Matt Bomer plays handsome, charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements - until he meets Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith. This scene, maked me breathless.
This is one of my favourite scenes not because Tim tops Hawk but because Tim was actually in control, of himself, of his feels, of the situation. I live for that look of contempt Tim gave Hawk when he tried to treat him like the kid he was when he met him and went on to mould him to be his boy toy.

I don't believe you, Tim said. For once. If only he'd kept it up. But I guess it was futile with all the love bombing Hawk was going to use to manipulate him right where he wanted him and then the worst thing that could have happened happened.
I still can't watch that episode as a result.
This doesn't change the fact that the moment Hawk's breathing is audible, it's our cue that shit is about to get down and for a brief moment I can put my hate on hold and give into the pleasure. If for no other reason that I know exactly how Tim is feeling.

@@aparupasinha4151 it's difficult to put into words actually because the impact, I think, came from the way the story was told. Right from the very start, we knew Tim was very angry at Hawk and we could easily guess withing the 1st episode for what reason but when we find out how and when he betrayed him, it just hit different .
I'm still so mad, lol. Just remembering it makes me feel like Anger in Inside Out 😅. Probably, mostly just projecting but I was just starting to see the humanity in Hawk but to me it felt like there was nothing he could do to make up for it. Tim had 30 years to get over it so I guess maybe with time I'll be able to focus on how he tried to fix things later.
After watching the first episode, I knew I couldn't do all eight. I just didn't want to spend "50 years" watching Hawk break Tim's heart.

Hawk had to live in a difficult time and age. I don't think it's possible they would have managed to keep all this a secret for too long. Tim was so much consumed by the love he was feeling that he couldn't see straight. But they shared these wonderful moments...@@i.t.t.

Having been with the same man for 24 years this is about as accurate a depiction of gay love and maybe actually any love that exists. They obviously are so in love and yet they are filthy and lusty like they just met at a bar. "Romantic" films of all orientations always seem to skip that part. When the milk spills all over Tim's chin, Hawk practically passes out from desire. This is groundbreaking stuff.

Are you just trolling or do you really mean that. I'm fine with the straights watching this series. It was not made for their gaze (thank goodness) but it makes it all the more important that they can watch it and appreciate without all the sanitising that's been happening recently (and drives me WILD). At the end of the day, this exposure is what's going to help us get the freedom and equal rights we've been struggling so we can live in a world where we can exist without fear and actually blossom. There's no way out of it. They're the majority. Their voices and votes matter.
If nothing else, this was a good story and it's really odd to gatekeep. Have you seen the press tour and all the publicity for the series? I'd have been curious too and then sucked in once I decided to give it a go. Let people obsess over the things they are suddenly interested. It's ok. They'll jump on to something else soon enough but by then the normalisation will have been complete. We all win.
