  • Our third and final morning at Disneyland had a train theme and began with another ride on the Disneyland Railroad. We loved taking advantage of this attraction as transportation to the further lands this trip. It really saved our feet a bit and every ride was fun. We got off at Toontown for a repeat showing of Mickey and Minnie in A Perfect Picnic. After we survived the Runaway Railway, we hopped aboard the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness. Husbandburger's favorite: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We stopped for a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon before our break back at the hotel and happened to catch the Disneyland band for a moment as they headed toward the castle for a performance. Back at the park for the evening we chose not to park hop and headed to Disneyland for an evening full of nostalgic (and nearby) fun; focused on Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street. We started with a flight with Peter Pan, then enjoyed an always reliably delicious Fried Chicken Dinner from Plaza Inn. For dessert we headed to Candy Palace, Candy Kitchen for a Mickey shaped Chocolate Chip cookie (Not shown), and then headed to Jolly Holiday for seasonal offerings: Poison Apple Macaron and 100th anniversary Lemon Tea Cake. We enjoyed our treats near Town Square as we waited for the Wondrous Journey Fireworks to begin. With low crowds after the fireworks, we were able to ride Snow White's Enchanted Wish, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, and Star Tours in the last half hour of the night. We were sad to say goodbye and are looking forward to a return visit soon.

I have some vivid childhood memories of Disneyland and the classic rides. In my mind, I always pictured them aging, getting run down and dingy (like attractions and rides literally everywhere else)... but they are still all sparkly and perfect, which is so cool!
