SELF-OCCIPITAL DECOMPRESSION: FAST RELIEF FOR NECK SUFFERERS - (Discovered by Dr Alan Mandell, DC)

  • Here is an excellent self-decompression technique that I would like to share. We will use simple biomechanics using our hands and extending our head. This will release adhesions/scar tissue and restore mobility in the suboccipital/upper neck region. When mobility is restored proper nerve function will return helping the body repair and heal.
Please share this with your friends and family. Wishing you and your loved ones many Blessings! ❤️😊🙏 Dr M

When you get to the point of extension against your hands/contact, you'll want to apply upward firm pressure in the suboccipital region. Do not continue extending backwards at that point.

motivationaldoc What do you think about the Atlas Orthogonal Technique? I'm going to a chiropractor next week for a consultation and probably treatment with this technique. I have 2 bulging cervical discs, 2 bulging lumbar discs, TMD, and pain in the occipital area with headaches. I've gone to 3 different chiropractors and physical therapists which did not help me. Thank you for your videos. I have been doing all of the exercises you have recommended.

motivationaldoc I just did it thank you! 😘🙏I can’t believe it helped me turn my head and neck from side to side I have been in horrid crying pain for months and can’t lift my head up off my shoulder always to the left side my chiro hurt me accidentally knocked it out of position when he cracked it and my jaw and your technique is how I sleep at night too on my back on the pillows it is cracking now So is that normal? I could not get it to stop cracking when my chiro hurt me I was scared told him he did not mean to hurt me he is a strong man I am tiny with a small neck. My spasm on the trapeze area is so big and hard nothing can soften it I can’t take muscle relaxers I throw up and get dizzy so don’t know if this will ever heal and my daughter tried to massage me once in a while it’s a long tendon or bone on the left side of my neck that has stiffened severe nausea and pain from this Always! I don’t know if itveill ever go away I have disc degeneration too and austeo arthritis in skull but it’s this stiff neck thing that swells up near side of my throat I can’t swallow water or eat without holding my neck skin with my hand back so I can eat without choking but when I let it go it comes right back and rises up on trapeze between the shoulder. I hope I don’t need surgery but I know I can’t live like this forever either. I will keep watching you thank you God Bless you too! Ginger PS. I am sleeping on a leather couch with quilt blankets and pillows I have no bed, this hurts so I go to bed with this and wake up the same way stiff and I’m crying pain. Just thought you might like to know don’t think a bed would heal me and pain also nerve pain travels down under the arm to the elbow hand fingers too I can’t squeeze or open a bottle or hold a spoon in that hand. Guess I am a hopeless case right now. Praying always!🙏

This is unbelievable. I've been suffering with this throbbing pain in the back of my skull for years! I tried the stretch while watching along and didn't even realize it did anything until you mentioned being able to move ones head around much easier afterwards. As soon as I rotated my head I noticed, no strain, pain or weird clicking/popping. It's instantly gratifying, which is really something us pain suffers only dream of.

I had a Cervical fusion of my C4-C7 due to a car accident several years ago, suffered with migrains since I was 14 and they have only gotten worse since my accident. My neck pain at time was unbearable. Tried multiple injections, but that only helped for a short time and was back to square one. One of your videos showed up on my feed last night about how to relieve pressure from your occipitals etc... between that video and this one. I have NO pain whatsoever, have regained full range of motion in my neck all the pressure in the back of my head is gone, and an added bonus.... I can breathe so much easier now. I have been suffering with chronic neck pain/muscle tension for pretty much my whole adult life. I've gone to chiropractors, an acupuncturist, and massage therapists which all seemed to be temporary fixes (although I must admit acupuncture worked the best). I do yoga and stretches, I try to drink enough water to hydrate the muscles, and I use a heating pad daily and ice occasionally. Nothing seems to really relieve the pain. I tried this technique not expecting much and I was shocked to feel instant relief! Thank you so much for this information!

My doctors have treated it with opiates, muscle relaxers, steroid injections directly into my spinal cord, oral steroid, and over 4 months of physical therapy. What relief I got was always very short term. I stumbled on this video on You Tube. The movement this doctor recommends gave me immediate relief in too important ways. 1. Pain relief. 2. Restoration of my range of motion. The relief was immediate, and so far lasting. Amazing. P.S. My two spinal steroid injections cost a total of over $10,000 and gave me relief for only one week each time.

I have been suffering from what seems like a less painful migraine for sometime. One sided headache pain at starting at the lower back of my skull with nausea and pain going down my arm and shoulder blade on one side. I have had moments where my scalp has been sensitive to touch.
I am getting checked out by my Dr. by having MRI and CT Scans he ordered, to make sure everything is okay. However doing this technique did work for me, very nicely. It stopped the creaking and cracking in my neck when I turned my neck and my arm pain stopped. However I did experience rapid heartbeat that took awhile to settle back down.

A big thanks, Dr. Mandell. After my cervical fusion (2017), I was left with only C1 and C7 still functioning. Your technique helped with my discomfort at the base of my skull. I've been to a Neurologist and a Pain Management Specialist, and I even had acupuncture. Your video on the Mastoid massage technique was almost a life-changer. Thanks again.

Hey Doc, i been doing this for over 4-5 years. I discovered this by myself. Yet i would 'decompress it' by pulling. It 'pops' from neck spine and upper thorasic. I do other things for each side of the neck spine. Trust me its the best feeling in the world. I wont show anyone because it's dangerous. Doing these things i discovered is great for me and i feel great. Basically im my own chiro because i dont have one in China. I can show you how i do, but if you would give me credit ;)

Lynne Jackson yes it can be excruciating pain some days right on the top of my head, since I had the injections 8 weeks ago I have been so depressed and I have cried every single day, I feel so miserable, all the docs n nurses want to do is up my medication, it wasn’t doing me any good so I weaned myself off it all and now I just put a hot water bottle on the back of my head and neck and it eases the pain, I will never have those injections again, sorry to hear you suffer with the same I hope you find some relief x

Hi Lynnie, can I ask what your symptoms are and your diagnosis, if you’ve had one, as the past 6 weeks I’ve been getting digging/jabbing pain localised to one area on top of my scalp to the right, and it can start hurting for no reason. When I get the pain, I notice that the area is tender to touch too. I’m not getting pain anywhere else. Dr said it’s nerve pain but doesn’t know why, not really helpful, so I’m stressing every day as to what it is, and that’s not helping. Thanks.

Dr. Alan Mandel, I've just applied your great technique on how to relieve the neck pain, and the reflection is that the mobility of my neck becomes better and nimble, and the sense is loosing up the muscles of the neck to the degree of complete relaxation so that I can turn my head to the left or the right side easily without feeling the tense neck muscles like before. Thanks a lot for your sharing the neck relaxation skill to me! It surprises me and releases my tense neck muscles in spite of not having a neck pain! By the way, I just applied your skill for just two times, each for about 50 seconds.
