I find it weird how Yellowfang in the rising storm cover changes DRASTICALLY in Yellowfang’s secret, guess her secret was that she found hair conditioner
@@nicholdyer570am i the only one who likes the new bluestars propchecy cover 😭 like i hate how she isnt as sleek as shes described and how she lost the blue in bluestar but apart from that i love it
Art style aside, the major thing that makes me upset about the redesigns is that they’ve made the series that much more confusing for the target audience, children. It’s already hard to remember which book is which with all of the generic and kinda similar names, now when they switch out the more iconic and distinct art for very generic, similar covers it makes it that much harder for kids to tell or remember which book is which. No more “my favorite book is the one with the cats crossing the stream” because all the covers for the first 4 arcs are basically the same. You need more obvious identifiers for some kids to know which book is which.
I know! The new prophecy is just giving cats an instagram account. I hate trying to differentiate Sunrise and Sunset, couldn’t they have chosen a more unique name for Sunrise
I hate that they completely changed all the covers right after the original creator of them died. I feel like if you wanted to go on and make new covers since he can’t make them anymore, sure. But I wish they kept the old ones he had made also because the new ones are super ugly and none of them are better then the original imo 💀
Me too tbh. I can respect the newer ones for what they try to do, but the older ones, especially from the prophecy begins are so iconic and the most nostalgic to the fans that it feels kinda like a spit in the face of the artist to IMMEDIATELY replace them. I would've been okay with them replacing them an arc after he had passed on, but yeah..
Same but more on the side of I feel as if it's a little disrespectful to replace them. It just feels like they're like "welp they're dead so we no longer need these" and just throws them into the trash. Wouldn't they want to keep them there for the community to remember such an amazing artist by?
Honestly, his style kind of changed over the years anyways (look at the art of Fireheart & Cloudpaw versus, say, Crowfeather on Twilight); they could have kept the original style of covers just with new art.
To me, the redesigns are great *illustrations* but not *book covers* The old ones are not only iconic, they actually look like book covers. Just realized, the redesigns really don’t have anything to do with the story. They’re just cat headshots
The new team thinks Bluestar is more silvery than blue and I blame the warriors wiki pixel art for this. One line in crookedstar’s promise called her “pale” (because she was in moonlight) and now we’re stuck with a Bluestar who isn’t even very blue because the new team uses the warriors wiki pixel art as reference for some goddamn reason.
Literally her whole thing is she supposed to be blue-- blue fur, blue eyes. What bugs me is that her eyes are GREEN on the cover, which really throws it off.
My biggest problem with the new Super Edition covers is that every one of them has the ears/head and the rest of the face slightly offset from each other, like the ears are slightly turned to the side while the face is dead center looking straight ahead or rotated. If you draw a line from between the ears down to the neck and then another one from between the eyes down to the nose/chin, you can tell how wildly off it is. It's strange because I believe they are digital art and you'd literally just have to rotate the face layers and center them to the direction the head/ears are facing.
The thing that gets to me about the redesigns is how the cats are drawn. It’s like the artist never really drew cats before being handed this job. Sometimes the cats look fine like in the first arc but as the series goes on we get more weird angles, awkward body positions, and horrific compositions (just look at TBC. Those covers are atrocious). Sometimes the cats’ muzzles look squashed, their bodies are stiff, their ears are sometimes angled in weird ways making them look like sticks, and sometimes the fur looks too floaty like it’s not really attached to their bodies. The cats’s eyes are uncanny in most of them. Sometimes the eyes are too far apart and I don’t like how, past the second arc, there are a bunch of covers with cats scowling. It doesn’t look right. Rootspring’s portrait in The Broken Code (I forget which book) is downright hideous. His face is stretched, his eyes are too far apart, he’s scowling in a way that doesn’t feel cat-like, I really hate how garish and dark his blue eyes are… it’s bad. Perhaps the artist isn’t given enough time to make these covers actually look appealing. They’re not a bad artist at all! They just need more time it seems to really iron their compositions and designs out.
The Place Of No Stars cover art looks amazing! I don't see anything overly offensive about TBC other than rootspring looking more scary than I pictured him.
What makes me most angry is what they did to the super edition covers… with the hardcovers, they always had such beautiful art when you pulled off the dust jacket, with the character actually interacting with the environment. Bluestar’s was especially iconic. Now it’s just a bust shot of a cat pasted onto the background.
Honestly? I kinda like the new format of it a lot more, the circle format just doesn’t work with Super Editions, all it’d need was a full-fledged bonus scene for hardcovers.
The person who does the new book covers has other amazing art but for some reason, his art for warriors just doesn’t do it for me. He’s great for other art he does but for Warriors it's… wonky? Lol. And does he give the she-cats eyelashes? I feel like he does that sometimes. It could be the lighting. There isn’t much nature or other colors. It’s often one color for the background and I guess that’s what annoys me. And it’s the way the cats look sometimes, lol. Wayne did a perfect job at showing nature and I love his art for every book because of that. He makes amazing landscapes! The covers in Poland also look amazing, along with the ones in China that are drawn! And the ones in Russia, I absolutely love those ones!
Most Cats do have a little bit of eyelash going on, but yeah no that was inconsistent with this fella. The eyes in general are so much less confidently done than the rest of the cat in the covers, especially at an angle. It's likely that
Nah, his other art's not great, either. He regularly whitewashes characters on other book covers, notably the Unwanteds, in which people literally had to get him to redo one of the covers because the characters were SO pale. Personally not a big fan of his art style overall, but the misrepresentation of characters is what really gets me.
From an artist perspective, I can appreciate the effort of the redesigned covers for going for a different approach and not copying the original covers, especially with the realism, which can be hard to pull off at times. That said, the approach of the redesigns doesn't work very well. Yes, some of the original covers were overcrowded and sometimes messy, but they were distinct enough to where someone can tell which book is which. With the resdeigns not only is it difficult to tell which cat is which at times, some of the colours blend together too well and don't make them distinct from one another. Not to mention, the awkward cat angles are generally unappealing to look at at times. The original covers had a simple style to the cats, as it relied mostly on the colours and composition, each of the original covers seemed to try to allude to what was going to happen in the books without giving away too much. While the redesign focuses too much on detail and making it look complex, which doesn't really work all that well. Sometimes simplicity is the way to go, especially when it comes to warrior cats, you wanna convey as much information as possible, while also keeping the reader guessing one what's going to happen in each book. One of the reasons the original covers stuck out so much is because it had the small focus of one or two characters in the middle that focused on the character in the book, and had something small (most of the time) in the background to convey other things that were to happen within the book. The redesigns didn't do this, relying mostly on the realism more than anything else, which can be detrimental to people wanting to get into the books, most of them don't really stick out, the most notable ones being from the earlier series. I'm not saying that Richardson has to copy McLoughlin's work, but I just don't think his art is the best portrayal of what Warriors is. While some of the redesigned covers do go all out at times (Dark River, Sign of The Moon, The Forgotten Warrior, etc ), most of the time it's not really doing anything special. I will say, Richardson's art gets more expressive (?) as time goes on, he goes away from the close up faces of the cats and gives more variety in terms of what's going on, it's nice to see more, almost, full body shots of the characters instead of just their faces. I especially like the Forgotten Warrior since it's very clever to put Holly Leaves in the foreground and Hollyleaf behind them, alluding to her return. They're nice touches and i do appreciate the effort that goes into the later cover that Richardson does :) I'm not even gonna talk about the super editions, there's just something off about the redesigned covers (THEY MASSACRED MY GIRL YELLOWFANG!!!!) sorry this is so long-
I really like the Last Hope redesign for a different reason: The pose Firestar is in is almost the same as the one he was in as Rusty on the redesigned cover of Into the Wild. Like it's come full circle. Which is very cool imo.
I'm pretty sure a cat can be born with cloudy eyes- it's more to do with /why/ the blindness is occurring.. this would imply either his eyes were infected upon birth, or did not form correctly- which is notable because it means that the brain itself isn't causing the blindness
moonrise's cover was the reason that i started reading these books. it remains my favorite book cover with, probably, a forest divided from dawn of the clans as a second favorite due to similar appear. omen of the stars' resign of night whispers and sign of the moon are two that i think are really stong, just like dark river. while a starless clan has some lack luster covers with three or four characters standing around, it's better than the close ups. i wish that a vision of shadows found a better balance of the headshots and the action shots. one thing that made the original feel more solid was a good balance of headshots and action shots. i actually really like a lot of the broken code's action shots, but the headshot takes up way too much space and is incredibly distacting. if they had removed the headshots and just did more background, then mwah perfect. maybe it's much more preferrable to action scenes as covers, but getting rid of the headshots was a pretty good direction to go.
22:58 I find it slightly comical that the majority of the other cats are heavily lighted and contrasted and saturated to the point of looking like they're on fire or glowing, but firestar who was named after "your pelt looks like a brand of fire in the sunlight" that very same firestar is typically the one with the most tame, shadowy, and slightly underwhelming lighting possible, at least in comparison to the other cover art. don't get me wrong, the technical skills are beyond breathtaking. I just think the direction could've used a bit more time and perhaps for a select few, a touch more passion
I prefer the original covers because they look like they were made with oil paints, and that fits the nature of the books better than the digital art on the new covers. Digital art can look nice if executed well, and the digital covers look nice, but they don't fit the vibe the books give off imo.
I love Eclipse's re-design, the red and orange blending in with sol's colors is just incredible, also i love the ring the sun forms as the moon passes trough it
As soon as the original "A Dangerous Path" cover showed up, I could hear the old intro to the Warriors website/app. It's odd I was annoyed by it as a kid but now I miss it whenever I pop on the website every once and a while.
6:17 i literally live in another state and i still see the midnight book (translated) in every bookstore, market and thrift store, i guess everyone really likes it lol
Honestly it kinda feels like some of thease new ones feel like publishers tampering with The artistic design. Like he showed the first book and the publishers loved it so they wanted to keep the close solos then he finally was able to zoom out. But couldn’t move out from the single cat images. :/
I really think that if the new artist would just zoom out the cats and do like at least 50% landscape for each cover it would be amazing! I love every cover where you can see the nature but the others are just meh. Also I love red for Crookedstar's promise because of red being Mapleshade's color.
the original cover of The Sight is by far the most iconic to me simply because it was the first one i picked up (i was 10 and had no sense of chronology in books). WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY BABY.
11:11 I’ve actually seen copies of the original the sight where all the eyes are amber. In my middle school library they had 2 copies. One with the correct eye colors, and one with all yellow for some reason.
i saw someone swap bluestar and yellowfang’s eyes on the reprinted super edition and it looks more convincing as them.. also, i love eclipse and the reprinted cover. the first warriors book i picked up. however, i think somewhere its said that it’s sol on the cover?? also! i’d love to see you review the foreign covers (polish, russian, and chinese especially) and the avos/tbc covers!!
The Bluestar one is so bad 😫. Shes gray instead of blue, they gave her eyelashes and it looks so weird??, plus she also looks really old?? Like if i was shown that picture of Bluestar i probably would've guessed Mistystar moments before her death lol. 💀
But that’s her actual color. Her color in the books is a pale grey that shines blue in the sunlight. But yeah in that cover she’s way too grey, and she’s fluffy?! I always thought bluestar had short fur.
I don't remember if this was canon or fanon, but I remember Bluestar was supposed to resemble a Russian Blue cat, which has cool-toned grey fur. No cat has naturally blue fur
I adore the original cover of Dawn! Always thought it was clever that the bottom half looks like cats sitting under the stars, but it is only once you look up that you see the sky reflected in the waters of the lake and the unexplored territory beyond. Kinda like a split between night and day - or as if StarClan was traveling ahead of them, happy to find this new place and pausing just a moment for the Clans to come home with them, too.
I love the old art from your guys warrior cats. I’m from Norway and our books has real cat’s on the cover. I find them still pretty stunning, but would love to have art on them.

The art of the new covers would be really good if he used his skills right like honestly I feel like Erin didn’t pay the new artist enough or something because he could’ve done so much more with his skill 😭
The old designs and redesigns also suffer from design inconsistencies. Like bluestar having green eyes on the A Dangerous Path cover redesign. That’s so.. dumb. Or the new bluestar and yellowfang super edition covers, which?? You can easily swap the drawings, change the colors, and you have significantly more correct depictions of both cats. Absolutely nuts. Umm i know there’s ones on the old covers but i don’t know as much about them.
i much prefer the old covers...they were so magical when i was younger, and it felt like a peek into their world. the new ones are just so close up and don't really spark my imagination in the same way. the art for the new ones is pretty nice though.
3:37 I’ve read the book and didn’t realize the cover was a reference, am I missing something? 4:44 might be Willowpelt? She is grey with green eyes and she dies in a dangerous path. I haven’t read the first series in a while so I might be wrong. 24:23 she looks like she’s glowing and I can’t place it but her mouth looks too human 26:00 swap bluestar and yellowfang, change the colors a bit and boom they look much better. I also went to see why my yellowfangs secret cover looked different only to realize I’ve had one with the original cover and didn’t realize it 😅 also anyone else notice that yellowfang looks blue? Just me?
I didn’t become a fan of the warriors series until about between 6 months to a year ago, so I’ve only ever known the new covers and quite like them. The only book I have in the original cover is Yellowfang’s secret and one of the novella books with 3 of them put together because I got them ordered online. I only have up to and including power of three, along with Firestar’s quest, Yellowfang’s secret, and all of the novella books. Personally, I think the redesigns are quite nice, but I also with I was able to get the original designs because they also look nice.
I'd LOVE to see you go over the Polish and Russian art! This was a great video, I love how you give credit to the newer covers when deserved too. I do like some of them but I wish they werent so samey and had a bit more personality to them. The most difference they get is the level of zoom and some of the background elements. Which can work well depending on the book but I feel its overused at this point.
And the super editions! Omg… I really hate how slapped together they look! The cats are just cut out from their full art and are plastered onto a cover with colors that do not match the cat or their lighting. Like Graystripe is strangely blue on his awful cover because in the full art, he is in a dark blue environment. But instead of making the cover art blue, they made it orange and white which clashes heavily with the dramatic blue lighting that’s on him. Leafstar has the same problem! She has an orange highlight around her so why in the world would you make her background a dark blue!? It’s ugly! All of the covers have his problem. The old ones didn’t because the cats themselves didn’t have such harsh colored lighting in their full art backgrounds and the actual covers have colors that match and compliment the cats’ fur color. Bluestar’s cover is silver, Yellowfang’s is orange and teal which matches her orange eyes and the yellow highlight that’s in her fur from the full art. It frustrates me to no end.
Great video, but I’m not sure how you were confused about the two redesign cats for the last two books of the first arc. I’m fairly certain The Dangerous Path is Bluestar and The Darkest Hour is Firestar.

so in the book a dangeros path i think the cat on the cover of the redesign is blue'star and in the darkest hour i think the cat on the redisign is fire'heart/star so yh
I actually like the *art* of the redesigns as standalones.. aside from the eyes. It seems he struggles with cat eyes from the side or in general... but as covers, these don't work
Isn't it Firestar on the remade cover of The Darkest Hour? Still not a huge fan of it though Also I hate that they moved Feathertail from Moonrise's cover to Starlight. Why would they do that?? She DIES in Moonrise
I actually don't like the into the wild redesign. They could have tried way harder. Maybe rusty walking into the woods? Or I don't know it's just unsatisfying to me. I don't really like any of the first arc redesigns except for rising storm though not saying that one couldn't have been better. I have a problem with the old midnight. One of the only old covers I don't like. And the reasons are the cat on the cover and the background. Who is the cat? Why isn't there really any background? It's just ehhh. I don't like any of the 2nd arc redesigns. Besides dawn. Leafpool I think is one the starlight cover. Never noticed the badger. I love the new dark river. Old long shadows is horrible. They are walking in green. Sol is supposed to be on the new eclipse. I know shocking. It's supposed to be him. I love all the new dawn of the clans covers. They are just so pretty. Not saying the old ones are bad. I like most but love the first battle. Redesigns for all the super editions makes me want to smack my head off a wall. Crookedstar and tallstar ones are fine though. Redesigned brambs is crispy firestar. And firestar is spicy bramble man.
Not a bad idea. I may think on it. I typically buy em directly from Harper Colins to support Warriors & Harper Colins. I respect Harper Colins treatment of the series/there values. Also to show em that people still like hardback/classic covers. Typically costs... Idk off top of my head $6-15 depending on the book. But if i buy like $50+ i get like $5-10 off. As well shipping is less than amazon. They only do 1 thing i don't like. They don't tell you what in stock or not till u literaly ask someone, but there reply times are on point. Same with refunds. I respect them.@@theblueblazing
After watching the video, I think I've realized why I had a somewhat positive opinion of the new covers for a long time. Arc 3&4 were my favorite for a long time, and several of the original covers really weren't great, while several of the new covers are some of the best ever done by the artist.
Content of the video aside, I feel like a video like this- where the vast majority of it is just you giving your opinions on different pieces, would be greatly helped with a script of some sort. I feel like a lot of your thoughts and feelings weren't explained very well or touched upon with much depth, and there was a lot of mumbling and stuttering throughout. Things that I think could be easily fixed with a written script, even a simple one. Just something to consider, I still enjoyed it!
It’s so funny as a kid midnight was the first book I read of the series and my mom did in fact nab it from a second hand book store It’s not my favorite cover art but it’s special to me visually because of being my first book and I’ll be sad if I never see a print of that cover again
2 last things. 1) New omen of stars actually looked great! Old DOTC... Eeehhhh... Had a couple great 1s. 2) xwx the underside of (some) super editions are like the holy grail of warriors art! The front covers were just... Basic.
25:04 calling this dark burgundy color magenta...i know what you are lmao Also to the people saying jayf wasnt born blind, i have no idea where this sentiment comes from but in Leafpool's Wish he is directly shown to have been born blind.
I think out of all the cover design bluestars prophecy was probably the worst of all of them but yellow fang’s secret was a close second to worst but tallstar did look weird

I always felt a bit off about the redesigns. Partially because I grew up with the originals and the reason for the redesigns felt almost disrespectful to me, but also I feel the redesigns lose all the charm. I remember always trying to imagine which cat was which and what scene was being displayed on the cover of the originals and it's much harder to do that with the redesigns. They aren't that fun to be honest, not super colorful and I find the harsh lighting unpleasant to look at. IDK, I just have a huge preference to the OGs and I hope they're not forgotten by younger readers
12:16 bombastic side eye also most of the super editions redesigns suck. like i love og yellowfangs secret and skyclans destiny, they did those 2 DIRTYY
The Moonrise cover is what got me into Warriors. I remember I was in 5th or 6th grade and I saw it on the shelf at the school bookfair and it was so pretty it caught my eye and I ended up buying the first 3 books of the new prophecy and I was hooked.
We had different covers in my country, so I only stumbled upon the original ones later. I personally never liked the format. To me it always looked like the smaller picture in the middle was out of place and crashing with the rest of the cover. An awkward add on. (Note that in the covers here in Finland the upper half of the covers was always a face of a cat, and it sorta merged with a different picture at the bottom.) Though some of the new ones are weirdly cropped/unclear, I like how they’re more uniform and the colors pop out more. Probably going to catch the eye better online and in bookstores. They look almost like movie posters. Imo many of the older ones just had too much going on.
I feel like I’m the only person who actually really likes the redesigns lmaooo I mean some of them I agree are just not good or the original was better, but I actually like the “uncanny close ups” in the new prophecy they’re insanely pretty and lovely to look at- He suffers a bit with same face syndrome but tbh I’m simple af and just love how beautiful they look, I like the harsh lighting, it invokes so much-
I've been absent in the WCUE fandom for a bit and this is how I found out about the redesigns 😭 maybe I'm dramatic but wow im heartbroken.. absolutely does look like someone struggling to find a good camera angle of cats, simultaneously I find the inconsistency of random amazing art so confusing? I wonder who approved of them, it's just a bit bizarre to me.
Actually , in my country , Jay Feather is called Oeil de Geai , so Jay Eye ... It's make FireStar bad ... HE DON'T WANT TO EAR ABOUT THE FACT HE IS BLIND FIRE STAR !!!!! For the cat on the redesign of A dangerous path , i searched for hours to found who is it and ... 1. It's can be Fire Star in a lot of shadow . 2. Same for Cloud Tail but why ? That make no sense . 3. Maybe the same thing of shadow with Sand Storm ... But there's no cat described has gray with green eyes ...
In The Darkest Hour redisign I've never realised it was the water on the cover until I saw this video (I had the book with the original design). The water is so dark I though it was like smth black that's around Firestar and represents smth dark like the dark prophecy 😭
the cat in the dangerous path's redesign is meant to be bluestar. when I first saw it i thought it was whitestorm because there is not a hint of blue on her fur or in her eyes

I don't see anything overly offensive about TBC other than rootspring looking more scary than I pictured him.
these redesigns for the super edition look REALLY uncanny, i cant tell why though
it's the realistic cats paired with a minimal abstract background imo, it makes it look cheap
Mascara Bluestar 💀💀
@@geet9830i agree, and i think it also has something to do with the proportions of their faces
@@quicksilveryt4000 sephora bluestar girlboss slay
yassified yellowfang REALLY gets to me
What makes me most angry is what they did to the super edition covers… with the hardcovers, they always had such beautiful art when you pulled off the dust jacket, with the character actually interacting with the environment.
The eyelashes thing was very apparent to me in leafstar...like the more I looked at her the more I kept seeing a human woman
he gives the she-cats weird pseduo-eyeliner and it's weird, bluestar looks like she has fake eyelashes in her super edition (23:19)
@@heyitsdusk Oh damn, I haven’t seen the cover art for those books- I’ve only seen a few others lol.
They're nice touches and i do appreciate the effort that goes into the later cover that Richardson does :)
I'm not even gonna talk about the super editions, there's just something off about the redesigned covers (THEY MASSACRED MY GIRL YELLOWFANG!!!!)
sorry this is so long-
I really like the Last Hope redesign for a different reason: The pose Firestar is in is almost the same as the one he was in as Rusty on the redesigned cover of Into the Wild. Like it's come full circle. Which is very cool imo.
Leafstar is supposed to be a brown tabby with cream, not ginger
I think it’s not supposed to be leafstar it might be sharpclaw?
@@izzycrislip7433sharpclaw is a dark ginger cat
I'm pretty sure a cat can be born with cloudy eyes- it's more to do with /why/ the blindness is occurring.. this would imply either his eyes were infected upon birth, or did not form correctly- which is notable because it means that the brain itself isn't causing the blindness
I'd like to point out though; his old design didn't have this, so I wonder which is true?
Nevertheless that cover is one of (if not) my favorite redesigns for the series
Dangerous path's cat is Bluestar, Darkest Hour's cat is Firestar.
oh i thought the darkest hour redesign was sandstorm 😭
Nah the real crime here is putting JAYFEATHER on a book called THE SIGHT💀💀💀

i pointed that out in a video lol

Stop giving the female characters mascara for the super editions

moonrise's cover was the reason that i started reading these books. it remains my favorite book cover with, probably, a forest divided from dawn of the clans as a second favorite due to similar appear. omen of the stars' resign of night whispers and sign of the moon are two that i think are really stong, just like dark river. while a starless clan has some lack luster covers with three or four characters standing around, it's better than the close ups. i wish that a vision of shadows found a better balance of the headshots and the action shots. one thing that made the original feel more solid was a good balance of headshots and action shots. i actually really like a lot of the broken code's action shots, but the headshot takes up way too much space and is incredibly distacting. if they had removed the headshots and just did more background, then mwah perfect. maybe it's much more preferrable to action scenes as covers, but getting rid of the headshots was a pretty good direction to go.
22:58
I find it slightly comical that the majority of the other cats are heavily lighted and contrasted and saturated to the point of looking like they're on fire or glowing, but firestar who was named after "your pelt looks like a brand of fire in the sunlight" that very same firestar is typically the one with the most tame, shadowy, and slightly underwhelming lighting possible, at least in comparison to the other cover art.
don't get me wrong, the technical skills are beyond breathtaking. I just think the direction could've used a bit more time and perhaps for a select few, a touch more passion
Bro the Polish versions of the book covers are fucking fire. Look them up if you haven’t already
the rising storm with cloudpaw is my favorite cover
it's so cute
@@minaso1000 she is said to have “thick fur” aka longhaired in book one. She’s always been fluffy.
Bluestar was never blue. She’s a warm gray that can looks blue in some lights. I personally hate literally blue Bluestar. It’s too goofy
@@Moony1568 oh I see
I don't remember if this was canon or fanon, but I remember Bluestar was supposed to resemble a Russian Blue cat, which has cool-toned grey fur.
Graystripe and the piss river
fading echoes i kinda like!! it shows that field that ivypool meets hawk in! i think it's really clever

24:23 she looks like she’s glowing and I can’t place it but her mouth looks too human
26:00 swap bluestar and yellowfang, change the colors a bit and boom they look much better. I also went to see why my yellowfangs secret cover looked different only to realize I’ve had one with the original cover and didn’t realize it 😅 also anyone else notice that yellowfang looks blue? Just me?
At the redesign of darkest hour that is Firestar 😊
The redesign art overs would’ve been better if they didn’t make the cat so up close
One thing, the cat on the cover of The Darkest Hour is actually Firestar.
AHH YOUR CAT IS SO FLUFFYYY

I'd LOVE to see you go over the Polish and Russian art! This was a great video, I love how you give credit to the newer covers when deserved too. I do like some of them but I wish they werent so samey and had a bit more personality to them. The most difference they get is the level of zoom and some of the background elements. Which can work well depending on the book but I feel its overused at this point.
Same
That bluestar one is a crime against warriors
Firestar is darkest hour, and bluestar is a dangerous path

I actually like the *art* of the redesigns as standalones.. aside from the eyes. It seems he struggles with cat eyes from the side or in general... but as covers, these don't work
13:33 Sol is actually the cat on the reprinted cover of eclipse. No I couldn’t tell either I only knew because someone else told me.
Isn't it Firestar on the remade cover of The Darkest Hour? Still not a huge fan of it though
Also I hate that they moved Feathertail from Moonrise's cover to Starlight. Why would they do that?? She DIES in Moonrise

Ebay is a good way to get them for reasonable prices
Not a bad idea. I may think on it.
I typically buy em directly from Harper Colins to support Warriors & Harper Colins. I respect Harper Colins treatment of the series/there values. Also to show em that people still like hardback/classic covers.
Typically costs... Idk off top of my head $6-15 depending on the book. But if i buy like $50+ i get like $5-10 off. As well shipping is less than amazon.

That's fair
Sol is on the Eclipse redesign cover, though?
I'm pretty sure, anyways.
Yeah probably....
It’s so funny as a kid midnight was the first book I read of the series and my mom did in fact nab it from a second hand book store
It’s not my favorite cover art but it’s special to me visually because of being my first book and I’ll be sad if I never see a print of that cover again
I’m glad that someone shares my opinion for the old twilight cover, it’s overstimulating AF
2 last things.
1) New omen of stars actually looked great! Old DOTC... Eeehhhh... Had a couple great 1s.
2) xwx the underside of (some) super editions are like the holy grail of warriors art! The front covers were just... Basic.

Also to the people saying jayf wasnt born blind, i have no idea where this sentiment comes from but in Leafpool's Wish he is directly shown to have been born blind.

IDK, I just have a huge preference to the OGs and I hope they're not forgotten by younger readers

also most of the super editions redesigns suck.
like i love og yellowfangs secret and skyclans destiny, they did those 2 DIRTYY
The Moonrise cover is what got me into Warriors. I remember I was in 5th or 6th grade and I saw it on the shelf at the school bookfair and it was so pretty it caught my eye and I ended up buying the first 3 books of the new prophecy and I was hooked.
I prefer the new covers art style better but I agree that I am sick of close up headshot cat covers.
I have the exact opposite opinions
I’m a much newer fan of warrior cats but I really like all the new redesigns
Nah bruv your underated as hell
I feel like I’m the only person who actually really likes the redesigns lmaooo
I mean some of them I agree are just not good or the original was better, but I actually like the “uncanny close ups” in the new prophecy they’re insanely pretty and lovely to look at-
He suffers a bit with same face syndrome but tbh I’m simple af and just love how beautiful they look, I like the harsh lighting, it invokes so much-
I've been absent in the WCUE fandom for a bit and this is how I found out about the redesigns 😭 maybe I'm dramatic but wow im heartbroken.. absolutely does look like someone struggling to find a good camera angle of cats, simultaneously I find the inconsistency of random amazing art so confusing? I wonder who approved of them, it's just a bit bizarre to me.
The first warriors book I read was Bluestars Prophecy and I have a deep affinity for the original cover. The new one doesnt feel like Bluestar to me.

A dangerous path is Bluestar I think (the redeighn)
