Nice video Ben! All my cars have been of a similar age and it's inevitable you get these kind of small issues as you said. Can't wait to see more content with the Z4 Coupe.

Hope you get it back to the condition you want it in. My 130k Z4 ended up being a nightmare, fixed one thing and two more issues happened! When it worked she was a dream though!

Hi Ben.The car sounds great,it's running like a Swiss watch.Squeaky seats are a problem with the Z4.Luckily I'm 6ft 3in and I can ram the seat tight against the back of the of the cabin which stops them annoying me.Thanks for another video m8.

Your PDC beep is probably just a faulty sensor, the symptoms resemble it very much, have it one of my cars as well. I would not worry about the idling too much, my E86 does the same thing on a cold engine and goes away immediately. I think it’s because of the vanos solenoïdes adjusting.

I don't know with BMW but at Volvo's from the same age, with a broken parking sensor it gives exact the same symptons. With a screwdriver you can test the parking sensors by holding the screwdriver against the sensors individually when its beeping inside the car. You should hear some sort of ticking sound from the sensor. If not, that's the one that is broken. Maybe someone can confirm the same for BMW?

Battery reset, Valvetronic reset, steering position reset, AWD transfer case reset, etc all can be done with $100+ devices on eBay, Amazon, BMW parts sellers. Many of them do firmware updates for future BMW cars, too.

The seat squeak is due to not enough grease on the seat hinge. BMW issued a repair notice telling dealers how to fix. I did mine it takes a about 20 mins and you need to take out the seat to sort. Very easy to fix.

Sensors: put car into into reverse with ignition on. Then go behind the car and closely listen to each one. The one that’s not making a clicking noise is the one that needs replacing.

    @rizzrazz Před 3 lety +2

I have a Z3 2.8 and the idle issue is common with 6cyl BMW's of that era, can be various things, all linked to possible vacuum leaks - age and mileage means that a lot of the hoses, pipes, CCV system etc can perish letting in unmetered air and therefore the engine tries to compensate by adjusting the fuel on cold starts to ensure its running correctly. You can check this with an OBD scan for misfire codes, short term fuel trim levels ( as the engine will be attempting to re-balance the air/ fuel mix by adding more fuel) etc. Long and short of it - Air leaks! Change all the hoses that you can see that are perished, starting from the intake boots behind the MAF. A full on smoke test can be done also to see where the culprit is. Hope that helps!

hi sorry for my english but i know very well n52b30 engine as i also have a z4 coupe 3.0si and a roadster 3.0si so am able to give you many infos about these issues as i almost resolved all in my coupe or my roadster
firstly the rough idle can be 3 things
-vanos solenoids ( test to clean them up)
-the little 2 vanos filters ( located under valve cover near water pump so hard to remove ) clean them up too
-valve cover pcv but as you mentioned that previous owner changed valve cover it seems it is not the issue
    - you can also have a broken air intake part located around sound generator (i will send you the part exactly later )
about your oil leak probably the valvetronic gasket , i recommend also to check the sparks plugs if there oil inside it would be probably a bad tightening of torx screws when valve cover has been reinstalled
same issue like you with park sensors in the past but it was not a bad sensor it could be just dust
i also thought i had a bad sensor but when i cleaned them up it worked again
it could also be a little rusty wire or bad connection
i recommend also to change oil filter housing it is a common issue
don’t hesitate to ask me when you have an issues
