That’s because in certain background harmonies, I’m singing the Dies Irae, or "Day of Wrath" in Latin. In film scores, the Dies Irae is frequently used to underscore moments of tension, suspense, or impending danger. Basically, whenever you hear those 4 intense notes, it's like a musical cue for something big is about to happen. I was figuring out what to sing for background vocals and the idea popped into my head. It was too perfect to pass up! (Love ya, hozier)

Theory: Camille's mom is the one talking at the start, telling her to run and never look back as she's being hunted down by a vampire. That same vampire, after killing her mom, isn't done, and still goes after Camille herself. I dunno if they were just innocent people or if vampire hunting was a family business and THAT'S why they were targeted, but, y'know. Either way very interesting

Intresting, this makes WAYYY more sense than what I thought and is actually super cool, especially as the queen herself confirmed it. My interpretation was that Camille had some sort of curse where she has a darker side that wants her to fulfill her destiny to kill the vampire she refuses to kill, as she like them. And that this song is her fighting with her inner demons (litterally) to stop herself from killing the person she loves, and it's in a time where she still hasn't admitted to herself she loves Victoria yet. Thoughts?

Really appreciate the Camille lore. I have a tabletop character, Cyra, set in a universe where vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures (and naturally, humans that hunt them) exist.
My character is a werewolf with a traumatic backstory of getting thrown into a prison run by hunters, where she met the only hunter that's ever been kind to her. They're dating now, and we're currently in an arc where he's been imprisoned and is getting questioned about his connection with her because other hunters are sus of him.
This song is definitely gonna be used as creative inspiration for helping me figure out where I want their story to go next 💜

I’m waiting for more songs and lore to drop but I’m slowly piecing stuff together from what we have:
So far it’s Camille is a divine vampire hunter whose set out to take down a powerful vampire and in the process meets Victoria and the two start their antagonistic relationship before it evolves into love, however Victoria’s sire the powerful vampire is also aware of their relationship and is set on Victoria destroying cam but vic won’t do it so the site goes and kills Camille (left behind)

OOOOOO L O R E =w= Also, this song could very much fit one of my characters in a story I'm currently writing. Their name is Adeen and they are the MC's LI, who is Ellina. Unbeknownst to her, they're filled with a fathomless rage at the Court Magician of their kingdom for separating them and Ellina when they were both young. They thought that they would never see her again, until they met again one day as adults out of the blue.
But that rage has only sharpened into deep, deep suspicion. Because they can tell that whenever the Court Mage looks at her it's not with kindness or compassion. It almost looks like they're wickedly pleased about something...
So yeah, they're extremely protective 😅

I think is one of the more insane songs you had for the ViCam series. The tension and the uncertainty is absolutely amazing!
In DnD my oc is Soleil an Aasimar Half Elf who ended up being shipped to a whole different country by force. She manages to escape with the help of her mentor Valtor and was raised in a dessert tribe years later. Flash forward to present day she meets this group who might help her get home and ends up literally hating this one member who is a Teifling that ran away from nobility. (Which makes her frustrated because now if the party is found with her, they would be charge with kidnapping. Also Soleil hates nobles because one helped her kidnappers ship her to this country.) This campaign is slow cause I’m a DM but also a Player so it’s pretty much a mess but it does make it more fun to figure out how to do this friend/enemy to lovers thing while not having a party kill each other.

I have a vampire OC that struggled her whole life because she was never able to drink human blood (turns out she’s half human, but that’s a story for another time) and she ends up accidentally slaughtering the vampire king (who is also her FATHER) while in the process of trying to tell him about her dilemma. Then she has to flee and ends up meeting her future human witch girlfriend 😉😉 Sapphic stories for days 💜💜

So, I'm guessing that the spoken parts are Camille's parent telling her to run and then confronting the vampire that inspired Camille to later hunt them, 🤔 but I feel like that's too easy an interpretation to come to. I really like the idea of the sung parts being from Camille's perspective, though! 😃 As a vampire hunter, it would be super interesting if she were the first to compare herself to them, thus robbing the vampires of the opportunity to make a "we're not so different" speech. 😈

I thought the orange text was Camille and the white text was some other vampire hunter.
From the lyrics, it sounds like people Camille knew sold her out and told other vampire hunters about Victoria. Both Camille and Victoria were being hunted by vampire hunters after news of their forbidden love came to light. In the first spoken lines, Camille is telling Victoria to run after they found themselves in a situation they couldn't escape from together. Camille stays behind to delay the vampire hunters as much as possible, but she is beaten. They beat Camille until she is unable to lift a finger but she wouldn't give up information about Victoria, so they leave her on the cusp of death.
Victoria ends up coming back later to find Camille on the floor near death. And that leads us to the song "Left Behind", where they share a final moment before Camille is gone and Victoria is left alone in the world again.

From the description, I gathered that the spoken parts were Camille's backstory (lore) explaining how she became edgy, as opposed to an end suiting for an edgy character. From May I Have This Dance, Vices and Virtues, and How Lovely, I got the sense that current Camille is the first reincarnation to take up vampire hunting. I had assumed Left Behind was more lore from before Victoria met Camille, though there isn't any way for us to know the chronological order of songs.
But I feel like too many songs have gotten us invested in Camille, to the point where I can't even name her previous lives (assuming they have different names). If this song brings us to Camille's death, does she get brought back to life (maybe turned into a vampire)? Does the story end? Do we meet her next reincarnation after a timeskip? Backstory is one thing, but if Reinaeiry were to kill off Camille in the present timeline, I personally would expect an original song.

okay theory but it’s probably wrong: so at the beginning camille is talking to a younger sibling/other family member and telling them to run to get away from yk the mf tryna kill them (victoria) and like later in the song its victoria asking where the family member went and camille is just like “you aint gon get herrrr” and then like yk vicam ensues
This reminds me so much of the story of one of my characters Arsaya and her love interest Wynyra.
Context first; Arsaya and Wynyra are a pair of lesbians who used to be adventurers and on their last adventure before retirement they rescued a child imbued with holy magic that was going to be sacrificed to a cult, named Flora. They adopted her but in doing so they upset a demon.
Eventually 2 years later the demon slowly took control of Wynyra's body looking to find Flora and take revenge on the pair of them. Arsaya eventually escaped with Flora but in doing so the house that they built burned down with Wynyra still inside.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS THAT I CANT PROCESS THEM ALL! most of all, i am just EXTREMELY excited for more Vicam lore!! (i LOVE how all of their songs tie together in some way!)
we haven’t had many releases from Camille’s p.o.v. so far, so this is a very, very lovely surprise!! love how camille seems to be the one protecting victoria, despite camille being human and mortal. it shows the depth of her love so clearly.
i don’t know much about their relationship, but i still adore it. and here’s how i think it all goes down (but take this lightly, because i’m probably wrong).
It’s obviously enemies-to-lovers, which is the best, but the trope is made even MORE conflicting because this is a love between a VAMPIRE and a VAMPIRE HUNTER. (which is interesting because they can BOTH be hunter and prey in this relationship.) AND it also has the added drama of an immortal falling for a mortal, possibly a reincarnation (oh, how lovely). They both think they’re playing the other by using their lust to lure them into a trap; yet, they end up falling in love instead, not meaning to and without even realizing it. Of course, they go through the natural stages of denial, pining, awkward crushing, and so forth. And then, as it does in all great romances, tragedy strikes. Camille is killed. Victoria is left behind, again.
This song gives some light to this actually-Someone wants to kill Victoria, and Camille tries to protect her by stopping them, or at least slowing them down. Who is the person that wants to kill Victoria, and why?
Personally, I love all the wonderful depth these songs give to their relationship. It goes from flirty and dangerous, like playing a deadly chess game, to utterly devoted and even more heartbreaking because of it. You can see how Victoria was just using her flirty player act as front, and somehow, Camille breaks down her walls and makes her more soft, more vulnerable. Then Camille is taken away.

The dialogue to the song actually really reminds me of my DnD character. So my character is a sorcerer called Cassandra who has seer powers. She's one of the fewest seers in the lands, so therefore very sought out by villains who want her powers. She also has parents who are warriors of the town, who have kept her sheltered her whole life. So the dialogue in between the song really felt like Cassandra's mum telling her to run, and then a villain on the hunt for her.

In the middle however, it shows as though she belonged to the woman who killed her mother as if through a deal or something.
