    Great review.
    I have had the old old ultra mid GTX for about 7 years and have loved them for shorter treks, park walks and even worn them for work. They are truly on their last legs now, so I had to find a new pair to replace them. I tried a pair of Merrel mid GTX boots which were fine in the shop but out in the real world they were virtually unwearable - poor support & brutally hard soles with hardly any cushioning. Anyhow, caved in and went for a pair of the quest 4 GTX and WOW 👌, they are so comfortable - like your favourite old slippers 😀 😄. Excellent support for your ankle, really good cushioned sole with plenty of stability, flex and fantastic grip. The only problem I have had is my feet get red hot 🥵 so I have been wearing summer weight / trail running socks. I can highly recommend them!

    I do irrigation and sprinkler work and also want a mid shoe for hiking in wet conditions that are in a wide. I normally take a 11.5 and maybe a 12 depending on the boot and shoe.

To bad if you just trip on a lace when going out if the tent in the middle of the night and snap, boot is broken. Salomon refunded me, but I'll never buy another boot with plastic lace holders. Too bad they didn't replace it for the new version. Is there any of those plastic lace holders on the X-ultra?

      @@rmkvisions I think they did good changing a bit from the 3's. I've put prolly 12 hours on them so far and haven't found a issue. Im not using them for backpacking, mostly as a daily summer shoe right now. I am interested in the mid gtx version though now

      @@rmkvisions I’m a little confused. So for long distances you suggest the ultra, but what about multi day backpacking? Would you still suggest the ultra or the quest?

    • @rmkvisions
      @rmkvisions  Před 3 lety

      To be honest it's whatever you prefer. I have used trail running shoes on multi day backpacking before in summer. If you like that added stability and ankle support I would suggest the Quest. It is still a light boot for how much support you are getting. I think the Ultra is a great in-between/ do it all boot

      @@rmkvisions it’s such a hard decision. I have tiny ankles so the ankle support would be great, but I took my Merril’s out for my first one nighter backpacking trip 4 miles up a mountain and back down and my feet were really sore and am thinking of upgrading to a better boot for a multi day Yellowstone backpacking trip this summer and I definitely plan on going on a lot more trips in the future. They both offer great features

      If you think you need the extra support I would definitely go with the quest. It is an amazing boot and still very lightweight. You also get that added stability of the 4D chassis which in all honesty is very nice. It's not like it's a bulky boot by any means and definitely more of a traditional backpacking style boot!

    sorry but this is NOT a review - its just a look at - which i can do in every fuckin store alone ..... a review would be how they perform - like waterproof, stability on the foot, grip, comfort to wear and such ......no front but you know what i mean .....

      I never once In this video said it was a review and that is why in the title it does not say review. This was purely a first look when the boots were released just like the title says. Thanks though ya goofer

    Para mi
    Son las peores botas k he comprado
    Super incomodas
    Y la vdd los materiales de pesima calidad el 1er dia de uso se me abrieron un poco
    Por esto puedo decir que es un producto carisimon para lo k realmente puedes aprovechar o disfrutar
    No me cree

    ce nouveau système de laçage est nul il ne sert pas du tout le milieu du pied et en raquettes a neige il fait mal au dessus du pied, je préfère celui des Salomon Quest 4d 3 GTX

    How are both boots in warm weather, early season hunting 70 degree weather ish?

    • @rmkvisions
      @rmkvisions  Před 3 lety

      For a fully waterproof boot, they both work extremely well in warmer conditions. I pair mine with a good merino wool sock for summer hiking and never have any problems! - Trevor
