  • After a few years of testing multiple models of the Salomon Forces line I have to say these boots and shoes are first class. They have robust construction while maintaining a light weight and comfortable design has proven to a very well rounded shoe ready for many types of adventures.

    This video is hands-down, the most informative Salomon Forces video on the internet. Keep up the good work! Ps, im convinced the XA Forces are the best law enforcement boots on the market.

    I purchased a pair of Quest 4D Forces (non-GTX). Great boots and lasted a couple years of hiking and K9 training in the Northern Nevada BLM. The boots held up quite well for a couple years. In the Winter it gets extremely cold in the high desert and with a good pair of socks you're GTG with these boots. Now I've decided to try the X Ultra 4 Mid GTX boots.

    My wife's favorite shoes to hike with are Solomon. So much so, it's the only shoe we've bought extra pairs of for her before because she'd wear out the tread on them. I never thought about trying them myself. Just been happy wearing Keen for so many years. I'll give them a try with my next purchase. That's absolutely amazing how long those boots last! Thank you!

      I have some keens. Different design philosophy...your keens are really for the trail. Solomons are a bit more versatile.

    Very good presentation and review! Definitely in line with my own experience and Tx for pointing out the difference between the models (have been using the speedcross and xa forces for over 600 km/370 miles) through challenging terrains.

      What about the tread?
      Mine seems to wear quick-ish.

    G’day Rich from Australia!
    I had a pair of speed cross 3’s and the sole wore out quite quickly. You did mention a softer compound sole. I thought it was just me (I’m a big guy) and was wearing them in Dubai where it was sub 50C temps in urban areas.
    Keep up the great work.

    I’ve only been a fan of the Ultra 3’s but they still didn’t last very long. I have a pair of the Ultra 4’s and they started falling apart a few months in right where the fabric was ultrasonic welded to the rubber/hypalon which would cause rocks and dirt to accumulate in the pockets and wear holes in the shoes.

    Excellent content. Thanks.
    Can you speak to the fit?
    Should I size up or are they consistent with other brands?
    Looking at the Speed assault 2 GTX for range days here in SWFL.

      I have many pairs of Salomon’s. For me they fit the exact same as my athletic or sneaker shoe size. Hope that helps.
      Will.

    Which would you use for commercial diving with fins, and walking on the hard a lot?

    Been wearing XA for years, saw the Quest was on sale and bought them, they seem to run smaller than an XA.
    Anyone else experience this? Is it the GTX layer? Or do they actually wear tighter?

    Speedcross are slippery af! Great in the dry and mud. Crap in Target 🎯

    Anyone know the sizing on X Ultra forces? Website is recommending I size down half size.

    • @RonnyStephanus

      On the contrary i size up half size because i tend to hurt my toes on downhill and they perform great. If that doesn't bother you then stick to your true size.

    @Rich Graham - In your opinion, do the Forces line of boots run a bit smaller in the sizing than the regular Salomon boots?
    I'm usually US 10.5 and when I tried on the XA forces mid in 10.5 (UK10), it felt a bit tight. the next size up (UK10.5)was a bit more comfortable, but I was concerned that it was going to pack out and become sloppy.

    • @RichGraham
      @RichGraham  Před 3 měsíci +1

      they seem to run consistent in length, but do fit a bit more narrow. I usually order mine in "wide" if available.

      @johnwalker1848 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, I was the same way. I wear US10.5 and had to go to an US11.

    Will it stop an axe attack to the top of the foot? Asking for a friend 😅

      Haha! We did accidentally test that out, and no the speed cross and assault lines are not axe proof!

    Salomon make great shoes and boots, but man they are ugly as shit.

    Keen's Zionic line blows them out of the water imo. Check-em out.

    • @RichGraham
      @RichGraham  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I did have a pair of Keen's previously. Not sure if it was the Zionic line but it had a higher arch and was uncomfortable for me as I have a very low arch.

    • @jmfm0911
      @jmfm0911 Před 6 měsíci +1

      i could never do the og keens because of the width of them however, the zionic line is different. No doubt solomons are comfortable, they just don't last in my experience.

      Great review. I'm on my 4th pair of Belleville 533st boots. Trying to support American made, but the last 2 pairs have terrible insoles,and the material in the shank tears 6 months in. I'll check Salomon out. Any recommendations for a gym shoe?

      @johnwalker1848 Před 3 měsíci

      Keens Zionic line doesn’t have solid colors for military or Law Enforcement use.
