  • How To Hit MASSIVE Topspin on your Forehand (Tennis Forehand Technique)
    To generate massive topspin on your tennis forehand, it's important to use the following:
    The ideal grip
    A low to high swing during contact
    Closing the strings prior to and after contact
    Using your legs to drive up and into the shot
    Brushing the back of the ball at contact
    Using the open and semi-open stances
    Focusing on the end result, where does the ball fly after the bounce?
    In this forehand lesson, Coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will break down all of the above and more to give you a complete guide to hitting massive topspin on your forehand.

      @@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I just won my 4th singles title yesterday! 2.5 hours and I was down 4 set points in the first set. I won 7-6, 6-3. Feeling good! Tomorrow starts an ITF Masters tournament (same one I won last year). Missing seeing you around Nana! Hopefully soon again!

    0:01 just curious.. does your actually knuckle sit on bevel 3 (Eastern)? This kind of looks more like bevel 4 / semi western to me? Or maybe it sits on the edge hard to tell from video.

    Hey Simon, are there players today who play more flat than spin ,because my playing style and forehand are more focused on attacking and being aggressive from behind the baseline.

      Just my opinion,for recreational players below 5.0,going after heavy topspin doesn’t matter that much.
      Because players at that level can hardly produce a pro-level of spin,not to say Rafa-like topspin.
      To clarify,I’m not saying we shouldn’t add topspin to our game,it helps with consistency and control for sure,
      but we shouldn’t be obsessed with hitting every shot with immense spin like the pros.
      Take me for instance,I used to play against a guy who hit topspin loop shot all the time,when we were about 3.5~4.0.
      He spin more than other players I’ve play with at similar level,however it never had the same effect he’s looking for.
      I could still crush the ball with flatter,more aggressive ground strokes ,also the reason why I could beat him 8~9 out of 10
      even when we’re at a similar level.

      @fox - it doesn’t matter what your main game style is, it’s good to be able to hit aggressive topspin for various reasons. That doesn’t you have to make it your usual game, it just means you’re adding another dimension for when you need it. If your game style is an aggressive baseliner who hits flat, keep doing that but work on adding an extra layer to become a more complete player

      @leo - it sounds like that player was hitting sort of guided topspin shots but not really accelerating properly or producing a penetrating shot as I describe in this lesson at the end

      So with the windshield wiper it’s the forearm initiating the swing and not the wrist????

    I’ve been hitting high balls long. Driving me crazy.
    Should I hit flat at the apex or top spin? Which way do you follow through?

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  Před 2 dny +2

      You can hit flatter but hit down on the ball slightly, or brush over the top edge of the ball using a lower finish

    0:01 does your knuckle sit on bevel 3? It looks more like it sits on the edge of 3 and 4 ie weak semi western not eastern?

    So the windshield wiper motion is initiated by the forearm and not the wrist???

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  Před 9 dny +2

      The forearm pronates whilst the wrists goes from a laid back position into a neutral position. If you purposefully keep your wrist cocked back after contact, expect an injury.

    Hey it looks like you’re moving your wrist when you hit, I thought you weren’t supposed to do that
