Messi for me is definitely the goat. He is the most complete player in the history of football - he is the best dribbler, he can assist, he's a genius playmaker and of course he can score goals (in fact he has one of the highest goal to game rations across all competitions). But it's not just that, the way he plays football, the way he dribbles and nutmegs players and the way he never dives is absolutely beautiful to watch. It just comes so natural to him. Ronaldo is also a phenomenal player, but he's trained and worked super hard to be so good and it shows. Apart from being primarily a goal scorer, his football doesn't look nearly as effortless or easy as Messi makes it look when he plays which is what places him above Ronaldo in the goat conversation. Perhaps someone at some time within our lifetimes can match Ronaldo's skill or goal scoring stats, but no one I think can ever play football like Leo does.

Here's what sets Messi apart from the rest of the pack. The ultimate goal while playing football in a competitive match is to be able to be able beat the opposition players, score goals and/or set up your teammates to score goals for your team. And when it comes down to these fundamentals Messi is second to none. Messi doesn't do too many flashy tricks and flicks. He doesn't do any show-boatinng. He is just focused on beating whoever is in front on him and he does this tremendously well. His ability to run with the ball at his feet, the close control, the ability to predict the movements of the players in front of him is just otherwordly. If you see him run with tbe ball you'll notice how close the ball is always to his feet. It's just incredible. Then if you look at his ability to score goals theb of course he is one of best finishers of all time. For a man his stature, 5'6, to be able to score goals like he does is just unheard of. Yes, he is very much left-footed and doesn't have the height to be able to score myriad of headed goals but that didn't stop him from scoring 91 goals in a calendar year- the most in the history of football. He works with what he has and he works wonders with it. Lastly, his ability to thread passes and pick out his teammates from impossible angles or incredibly tight spaces is the stuff of dreams. If you love the sports then you have to be in awe of his playmaking ability every bit as much as his goal-scoring ability. Not only is he himself an astounding footballed, but he only makes the players around him better too. I'm sure some people will point out Zlatan or Thierry Henry and say they weren't as good playing with Messi but that's probably because Zlatan isn't exactly tiki-taka footballer and he didn't quite adapt to Barcelona's style in my opinion. And Henry was clearly past his best. And also everything that works on paper doesn't always work in the field, otherwise Galacticos would have won every trophies out there. Anyways, I am digressing here. Messi's number of assists and key passes over the years is proof of his ability. And his numbers regardless of the drama of Barcelona FC on and off the off the field speaks to his consistency. And this brings me to my final point, which is his consistency year in year out. A lot of other players are great and have had spells of great runs at the top of the game, but to have done this for as long as Messi has done is truly remarkable. And over time he has changed and adapted his game and switched to more of a playmaker role as he lost pace with age while still posting some mind-boggling numbers of goals per season is just phenomenal. To sum up, it just a joy to watch him play and I don't think I like and enjoy watching him play more than anyone else in the world. This is what makes him the greatest of all time.
    G.O.A.T.

It's REALLY hard to decide what's the best part of his game. Cuz statistically, he's the best goal scorer and playmaker. His vision, IQ, everything is seriously on another level. People say some stars in any sport are a different class. But what messi does is unmatched. No one in the history of football provides what he does on a nightly basis consistently for this long.

  • @nephinabrotzky451
    @nephinabrotzky451 Před 3 lety +23

I am relatively new to being introduced to Messi as well. I cannot really claim to be a football fan, but I am definitely a Messi fan! I would say that his ball control is his greatest skill. He can place it or keep it where he wants. He can run full speed and keep it at his feet or pass it and put it right at a team-mates feet. He can change direction like no one else but keep the ball. He can out accelerate or decelerate faster than anyone and still keep the ball. His shots are not always right on, but his accuracy is far better than most. His lack of height gives him a low center of gravity and stability and gives him more power in his legs for acceleration. He is not the fastest runner on the pitch, but he is the quickest! He can accelerate to his full speed more quickly than his opponents, which means that he gets to the ball first. When his opponent catches up to him, he changes direction and speeds away while his opponent has to go through the acceleration process all over again.

Ronaldinho is my faviourite player, the flair, the skill and high speed dribbling making it look so easy. But Messi is the GOAT. Messi may lack that flair that Ronaldinho has, but he takes dribbling, passing, finishing, positioning, all to an alien level that no one's able to get to. Consistently dribbling through defenders, world class defenders. Passing comparable to any Maestro. The most complete player in the final 2 thirds of the pitch.
And the awesome thing is that Messi got some good time to learn from Ronaldinho. The similar deception is there, showing the defender you're going one way but that quick shift to go the other. Messi just does amazing with his short, but many, touches on the ball in close quarters. Pace may not be as of Ronaldo, but that acceleration and quick explosion to his relative top speed catches most off guard. Goat for sure.
Best part of his game is how he uses his dribbling, passing and movement to attack the defensive line. Great at opening space, and too good at using the players around him as decoys, and points of reference all around the pitch. I can go on

Messi’s best qualities, control, dribbling, ice-cold mental fortitude when in front of goal (many strikers crumble by goalie&defender pressure on one-on-one situations). However, what separates him from others is that at his prime, he aways had 2 or 3 or more personal defenders. As in players who’s only job was designed to follow and annoy messi at all times. This is due to the fact that when messi had the ball, he had the ability to break through defences better than any other player and create chances on his own. Also he was all about business; he didnt need to show boat or do fancy tricks, he just received the ball at any part of the field and turn it into a scoring opportunity

You know when you watch a game on TV and becuase you've got bird's view and you can see the entire field, all the players, and actually run the best scenario on your head, well, It seams as if he's got that bird's view, and in fact he takes even better decisions, than the ones you comment on your head while watching the game.

Messi is the best dribbler of all time, best passer of all time, best goalscorer of all time and arguably freekick taker of all time. I don't think any athlete in the history of sports can say they are the very best at virtually every aspect of the game not even jordan. So it's hard to say what his best attribute is but his dribbling is something that well definitely never see again

  • @amacuro

Even relative to his size, Messi's feet touch the ground far more often than other players. It allows him to do things no other player can. He is the greatest there ever has been in front of Diego Maradona. His name is pronounced Lee-on-el rather than Lio-nel btw.
Football is the number one sport in so many countries across the globe. In many countries it is a passion that surpasses anything in the west and raises people out of poverty. The elite players are the very best of the best from this passion across the world. Messi is a step above all of them. He does things that anybody watching who played a lot of football cannot understand how he did it. When elite world footballers take a break, they watch Messi. The greatest sports person to ever exist.

He is the best ball controller, best dribbler, best passer, best playmaker, best free kick taker , abest assist provider and best scorer! Besides , the way he plays football, can not be understood unless you watch him play few days. He is just unreal. He became GOAT when he was only 25 yrs old! Last 10 yrs free show man! It still continues! He got low centre of gravity and strong legs that make him unstoppable . Watch him as many time as possible because one day everything comes to end!

    Greatest Playmaking of all time
*Because He is the greatest dribbler of all time He pulls defenders to him, because otherwise He might have a clear Shot(His solo Goals). This gives His teammates space on the wings
*Then He has the greatest Vision: He knows where to Pass the Balls
*He is Not the greatest passer, but one of the greatest
