2000HP @ 75 PSI Of Boost | The Worlds Fastest Street Legal R32 GT-R [TECH TOUR]

  • With over 2000 HP at 75 PSI the Maatouks Racing King32 GTR has run a 7.00 @ 199 MPH making it the quickest and fastest street legal GT-R on the planet running radial tyres. At this year's World Time Attack Challenge we had the chance to take a look.
    Head tuner Mitch runs HPAs Andre through quite a comprehensive list of topics in this interview which include the somewhat surprising fact that the car runs a cast iron RB30* block alongside it’s Nitto 3.2L stroker kit, Maatouks cylinder head package, Hypertune manifold, Haltech Elite 2500 ECU and Precision Pro Mod 91mm turbocharger. The car puts power to the ground a Turbo 400 3 speed trans via 4wd setup that is also controlled by the Haltech ECU instead of the factory electronics.
    Among the topics are C02 boost control, shimless cylinder head conversions, torque split as the car barrels down the strip, 2 step trans brake, nitrous and the dry sump setup which sees the main tank up the front of the car due to weight balance not being much of a concern for the application. When and why the team will switch to a billet block is also touched on along with data logging and how it’s used to help dial in the car to go faster and faster.
    NOTE: Although an RB30 block and E85 fuel are stated to be used, we believe it is actually an RD28 block and running methanol. Disappointing to not be given the correct information here, however, we believe Mitch had also been told otherwise rather than trying to be misleading. Something like this won't happen again.

      LISTEN TO ME PLEASE. your interviews are great, no the best tech interviews on YT right now. But you guys desperately need to splice in more b-roll. Please, watching 2 guys talk about a car that is literally right behind them to show off is frustrating and the #1 reason i don't watch you more. i think others would agree.
      Please: same interview, 95% b roll of car footage of racing or looking at the build | 5% footage of the interview. Please, save yourselves.

      @@TheKnightOperator Hi Knight, Jono the video guy here. Thanks for commenting. I completely agree with you. More B-roll would be great. In a perfect world I would have an hour after every interview to go over the car in detail and show every bit talked about, and have endless amounts of track footage. However, when we are at a track event - like WTAC, we have limited time and so do the teams. They are often prepping the car to go out for the next session, and I have 5 minutes at best with the car. The other factor in this, is that instead of getting 20 pieces of content from an event, we would get 5. We’ve opted for more content on a wider range of cars and for us - it’s working. Our target audience (people who are going to buy training courses and learn a new skill) have patiences, are happy to consume technical content without 10 shots of a FPR. 🙂 Thanks for your feedback. - Jono

    • @TheKnightOperator
      @TheKnightOperator Před 5 lety

      @@hpa101Jono - FPR? wat is? okay, but you guys splice in like a 2 sec shot of the motor and a 5 sec startup. You could just loop the 5 min of footage you do have more. if were being honest here there's less than 5 min of footage of the build in this segment. maybe 20-30 sec, if i'm being generous. Just loop what you have or hold a still of the engine, cockpit, rear/trunk with a mini PiP of the interview in the corner. something. i mean this is really dry stuff with no visual aid. just make pod casts then, whats the point of filming? and i know other times, you do have plenty of time for footage and there's still nothing. buying courses is great in all, but you can also make serious money off a CZcams channel, i would try not to be so obtuse in your methodology. I think this is abit of a weak excuse, plenty of other channels make due with their limited time. i mean look at sema, they have crowds to attend to and plenty of people got the shots with limited windows of time and interview, 1320 video is a prime example of just what you are talking (racing, prep, limited window) about and there's plenty of b-roll. I mean your standing in front of the car for a 20 min for a video interview, seems like there's plenty of time to shoot. you could shoot while doing the interview, and bring the camera back to the interview periodically, do some splicing and make it seem like there's 2 cameras. Do you, but i think you're holding your content back. GL

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  Před 5 lety

      @@TheKnightOperator thanks for the feedback! We do what we can with b-roll but the focus is and always will be the knowledge within the interview. We're always going to focus on the knowledge, and if that doesn't have you excited like it does many others it might just not be your cup of tea which is OK.
      At the end of the day we make these to share the knowledge, and so long as that box is ticked everything else we do to try and make things better is just icing on the cake =)
      Thanks again! - Taz.

      TAI 392 it would not make it. Going through five diffs in one event? That car would be a nightmare to drag week. It was just never intended for that kind of purpose. Stock cast iron block and I imagine fairly horrible street manners, you couldn’t pay Anthony enough to run that car in that event. It was meant to be just a couple of hot laps at the strip with a team of engineers and mechanics. With only the driver and a copilot allowed to work on the car at drag week with a small trailer of spares, Doubtful. But I feel where you’re coming from. Several things. I have nitrous on my Focus ST not so much to spool up the GTX3071 but to make more power when the turbo starts to run out of steam. Instead of pushing the turbo to the moon, leave some headroom and blast it with nitrous instead. My question has to deal with the nitrous system on this car. Is the nitrous flowing while on the 2 step or the nitrous hits right out of the hole? I would think it's hit as soon as the throttle goes over 90%, that is how I have my system. Another so of related question is OE vs Syvecs. One thing I don't like about the factory PCM is that below 6,000 rpm there is only a ignition cut available. That means that if I try to launch the car below 6K it will fall flat on its face and then goes. Obviously this makes the short times suffer, added insult to injury is that launching it at 6k bring too much wheel spin. But the suspension is still 100% stock so I know that's where I need to focus (no pun) next. Anyway is there an advantage to the rolling anti-lag and other features in the Syvecs to justify the investment? It's PnP for the Mk3 Focus ST and RS and works with the OE CAN BUS, so everything works just engine controls are given over to the Syvecs.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  Před 5 lety +2

      The nitrous is used just to get the turbo spinning. This type of system is talked about in a little more detail in the Viper interview from Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack from memory, I'll find you a link ;) - Taz.

      IMHO weight reduction is a bit lazy. If it's a streetcar it should be as comfortable as it was the day it rolled off the showroom floor. Now the only fly in that is to generate the power to overcome the extra weight might be beyond the capabilities of the stock 2JZ block. 1000-1500 hp seems to be fine on the stock block but to reach 2000 hp, likely need to go billet.

    I’m not a safety junkie but are the roll cage rules pretty relaxed in Australia? Running a 7.00 in USA requires a pretty serious cage. Last I saw it looked like it have a cage that would be legal to 8.50’s here. Awesome car, liked the questions.

      Thanks for your reply. I was referencing the cage design though. In America that cage would be capable of going 8.50 or slower in the quarter. To go the times and speed they are going requires way more bars. Basically a funny car cage around the drivers head along with many other bars.

      @@859romulus22 cage laws vary from state to state. Many states don't allow 6-point cages because they interfere with airbag deployment, obscure vision, and can cause head injury because you aren't wearing a helmet when driving on the street, unlike on the strip.
