    Hi Oleg ! I hope you are well and keep skating.
    Thanks to your videos, I’ve always been more advanced in footwork than in jumps and pirouettes.
    Although I lost my jumps during the March 2020-September 2021 rink closure and still can’t do any proper pirouette, I managed my first series of inside rockers today.
    You are so gifted for teaching ! Thank you :)

    This is great thank you! My coach had me try these the other day and this video really explains them clearly.

    Your tutorials are great. Thank you for taking the time to do this. This is one move that I just can't seem to get, but I will keep watching and practicing.

    Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. I hope it helps me to do better rocker on my Snow Whites, this turn on inline skates needs more precision and I already hit the ground 2 or 3 times:)

      +Marta Pietkiewicz Yep! Let us know how it goes!

    • @martapietkiewicz6612
      @martapietkiewicz6612 Před 8 lety

      It goes much better after watching your tutorial! My move is already fluid, I still loose a little balance on the exit edge (I guess my exit edge is to deep) but I'm working on that:)

  • @edmundgeswein
    @edmundgeswein Před 8 lety +2

    One of the things that makes rockers so difficult is that it's the hardest turn to maintain speed and when speed is abruptly lost the exit edge ends up weak.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 8 lety +1

      Yeah, part of the problem may be the knee and ankle action, you gotta time it right to maintain that feeling of riding the top of a wave.

    Thank you so much for your tutorials! Can you do one on two-foot turns? I don't know how I'm supposed to use my hip. My blade gets stuck and I end up doing a spin instead.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 8 lety

      Hi Thesu, sure! We will add it to the list. The key is to press into your ankles before the turn, then rise onto the ball of the foot to turn, then press back to the heel. You can try it on the boards first to get it.

    The correct pattern showed a nice circular lobe both in and out, but I was wondering what a good cusp size would be. I used to roller skate and rockers on roller skates are done with a half skate length. Is a half skate length the correct cusp size for rockers on ice?

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 8 lety

      Hi Edmund, half of a blade length will be a good size for a cusp. A cusp larger than half a blade length would likely be the result of an inappropriate edge change or wobble. We don't have regulations specific to cusp size, it's more a matter of if the tech panel will see a clean turn.

      +Marta Pietkiewicz Hi Marta, yep, we're gonna make a detailed powerpull video soon.

  • @edmundgeswein
    @edmundgeswein Před 8 lety +1

    I tried it again entering the turn not actually trying to do a cusp but just holding an inside edge and letting the turn happen. A small cusp automatically formed from the process of turning and I came out with a better exit edge.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 8 lety

      Very good! Yeah, don't "try" to make the turn happen as it will become a forced turn. Instead, press into the turn, then rise to turn, and press again after the turn. More on this in "Episode 61. Turns: Backward Inside Rocker"

  • @kyosunlee
    @kyosunlee Před 7 lety

    Patterns descrbed in above vedio clip seems wrong. They look counter turn pattern at the spot of the turn but it should be 3-turn one according to the motion of the lady in the clip.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 7 lety +1

      It depends on how you are reading the pattern. Here the pattern intended to be read left to right, for a forward inside Rocker. If you read it right to left, it would be a forward inside counter. That's a good point I will make the skating direction clear for the future videos.

    • @kyosunlee
      @kyosunlee Před 7 lety

      +Kseniya and Oleg Official Channel Ah sorry didnt know I took the direction different from what you intended.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  Před 7 lety

      No worries! I'll make a directional arrow for future patterns ,as these patterns can be misread unless direction is specified.
