omg your profile pic its jhope 💜
Seriously this is his best chopin ever in my pov..
@Blossom데이지 It's good to see my family appreciating art of a different kind. 💜
To be fair, he had the existing world record (and still has it), so there's not much point being mad hahahahaha
@Blossom데이지 probably wr stands for world record
If you’re ever sad remember you live on the same world as YUZURU HANYU
But its sad to accept the truth that we may live in the same world, were still so afar,he's like a star,a sky, a moon, a sun, he's so afar, and im certain that we will never cross in each others life,Nvm,Dont mind me hahaha im just being a drama god

This performance embodies Chopin so virtuously, like he's his living muse in the present day 💙
Nathan's 113.97 compares nothing with this masterpiece. The elegance of Yuzu's Chopin is above all.
i wholeheartedly agree. while nathan may have all of the technical elements, his skating just isn't the same as this. i can't describe it but yuzuru just skates so majestically.
Agree he was over scored his performance was lacking in the emotion and artistic value. It's just technical fancy moves I feel nothing when l watch him.
@@val875 I think there's a HUGE stylistic difference between them. When nathan does quads they LOOK difficult. It's like he's bringing attention to how much strength and power actually goes into those jumps. But because of that he often lacks any sense of fluidity, every time I've seen him perform he just looks so stiff and rigid, it's almost like there's a sense of awkwardness when he's on the ice.
And yuzuru does the exact opposite of that. his performances are pure artistry. He makes the INSANE jumps he's doing look completely effortless. It's literally like he's one with the ice when he's out there, no stiffness or awkwardness at all.
@@alannahood4107 This! That's what I felt. When I was watching Nathan I had this sense of awkwardness and I thought what do I know ?I am no expert. But you put my thoughts into words.Yuzu is graceful. Its like he is gliding on ice.Nathan lacks fluidity.
elegance
Anyone notices at 1:11 just before he started his spin, his toe touches the ice JUST at the moment of that high music note.... if this is not magic I don't know what is....
Timing
Everything about timing, he is like can use the time as what he want. Seriously, not magic
timing is magiccccc
OH yess yesssss!!! So beautiful.. This is like a treasure trove... every time we watch it.. it's like.. there's another gem to be found... wow...
@@Ambyaaarr n its his magic, hanyuesque.
chopin would be proud
Technically Chopin would be mad because they removed a part of the Ballade...
@Yuzuru Hanyu’s Pooh-San EXCUSE ME it's a piece not a song alright thank you bye
Edit:ahh they deleted their comment and now I look stupid jeez
Classic Lover well I mean there’s no other way he can fit a 10 min long piece into a short program. Chopin would definitely be proud
Well he be "Chopin" the onions watching this!
I'll leave
Free fire Heart lol
I know nothing about figure skating, but Hanyu looks like an angel.
I became a fan of Yuzuru after seeing this performance.
Never forget that he skated with a still busted ankle. Yuzuru is the G.O.A.T
Is it?? This time his ankle not yet fully recover??
Exactly ♥️my favourite his SP programme
@@imcskchannel2864
3 months before the olympics , while practicing his jumps in Nov, he injured his right ankle ligament. The injury was so serious as even abt 2 months before olympics, he was still unable to skate due to his ankle pain. He was only able to do imagine traning on land
On Jan, abt 1.5 month before Pyeong Chang olympics, his ankle pain still persist. His resolution was to take pain killers or he wud have to withdraw.
During the competition, he was still taking painkillers.
A historical performance by a True CHAMPION - Yuzuru Hanyu 💪👍
@@ellielee490 ohh yeah i know that, hes such a fighter!👏👏🥇🥇👏👏👏👏
Msy Cyn he is a human as far as I know
2:40 he isn't just performing, he is _seriously_ actually dancing, giving emotion to the piece. It's beautiful.
it's fine , I can’t agree more he shows so much passion in his skating. He is stunning isn’t he
Choreograph
I agree with you, because he was dancing in the right time in the music go high or slow.
But based on the jump his scores is okey but I do hope he break the records again
This is breathtaking
this is what ice skate artistic is... beautyful
The boy is divine.
THIS WAS SUCH A CLEAN SKATE, I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS DIDN'T EARN HIM A WR
Well it was HIS OWN world record at this point.

@@jugemujugemugokonosurikire4735 even so, he should have get this skating a world record too, but the judges denied this olympic record
He didn't get a level 4 critique on his last element, where he was supposed to use a change-foot spin. Otherwise, he probably would have gotten a wr.
@@maximvasilleyvich6060 They still held back in the scoring like they have been doing since years ago. Even without that the other elements should have been rewarded higher.
I don’t know a lot about this sport/art honestly I don’t even know what I’m doing here.. but this was magical I loved it

Да, великий, непревзойденный. Легко, воздушно. Бесстрашный, музыкальный. Смотришь как спектакль. Чудо!
what's more beautiful than chopin's ballade no 1?
chopin's ballade no 1 WITH yuzuru hanyu on ice.
Fantaisie-Impromptu by Chopin :-)
YEEEAAHHH
@@MrRight1000 i would like to see him playing fantaisie impromptu
@@ketokeko I hope that Yuzuru hears and presents us with his interpretation of Impromptu. After all, in the Ballade he didn't just skate Chopin - he WAS Chopin. I believe he owes it to his fans before he retires from professional sport. His role model competed till the age of 32, so can Yuzuru. IMO.
big brain comment
He plants his toepick into the ice to the precise beat of piano notes being played. That quad toe triple toe was... out of this world. To those who witnessed it live... it must have been a miracle.
Anyone watching this programme for first time would not have seen that triple Axel coming. Takes off with pinpoint precision to the music. Welcome to Planet Hanyu indeed... Population: 1. Him.
Lol 😂 your comments remind me how Italian comments ... 👍👍👍 “planet Hanyu population Only him”
hehehehe.. They are the best commentators!!!!!! ehheeheh..
In slow-mo, can see the height!
When i watch other skaters, i almost can guess they want to jump. But with Yuzuru, i often wonder he would jump or just continue move. Sometimes, his 3A looks like a part of his stsq so that i used to think 3A was an easy jump =)))
The 3A was just marvelous. Idk how many times I have been in awe at the fact that his takeoff - air time - landing matched the note PERFECTLY. And it's the quieter part of the music, so the impact is not in your face but when you discover it, the feels just hit like a truck
I can watch him skate forever
THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR THIS IS LITERALLY ART
His score still pissed me off tho. He deserves the new world record with this performance
KiKi Waka yes first and second by him
He missed a level in one spin. That's why this not a WR
I agree with you he's technical score over 63 he should break the record
@@JorgeGarcia-gm6hh oh, really? which moment, please?
Van Santos the last change foot spin (aka the very last spin before the music stopped)
I don't watch skating but he's incredibly talented and mesmerizing. He's not just beautiful and smooth on the ice. He's confident. He looks like he ows the ice. I love watching him.
Guys YUNA KIM has wonderful performances, her best was at 2014 Sochi. Yuzuru has the same choreographer as her.
@@dotscrunch Yuzuru worked with David Wilson (who worked with Yuna Kim) upto Sochi. He changed choreographers later but he still worked on some exhibition programs like Notte Stellata with David. But I agree Yuna Kim is also another amazing skater one shouldn't miss out on.
My favorite program ❤
this has got to be one of the greatest step sequences of all time
I got chills, no pun intended
factually it pretty much is! 8 out of 9 judges gave it perfect GOE (+3, remember the judging system changed)
also check out Mao Asada's step sequences from her Rach II free program in Sochi 2014!
Definitely, this is the greatest short program in fs history
I was just saying to myself as I was re-watching this masterpiece that this step sequence was possibly the best I’ve ever seen.
I have to say everything is perfect. The music, the costume, the audience and of course his mesmerizing and aesthetic performance. The champion!!
Exactly. I felt the same as I was watching - it's a truly Olympic-worthy program in every aspect.
Huh
True...
Millah Milla
Actually I was thinking the same in the beginning but then I realized that the 1st version the program was more ethereal itself... I was not feeling the power of yuzu there for some reason ... second version was just about power ... this last version was a Golden middle and the costume also emphasizes both the ethereal nature of the program and unbelievable strength and confidence of his ... that was kind of my feeling
@Millah Milla
I completely understand what you mean ... probably from my character the power and dominance is very impressive for me combined with delicacy and that's why I love the last version the most but all of us have our preferences ... but now we are nitpicking, anybody in the sport would dream to skate the way he has skated even the worst skate of ballade
How could anyone pull off a perfect program on an injured ankle and under immense pressure? I'm so happy I'm living in Yuzu's era 😍
I heard he was on some strong painkillers
He already healed this time after 4 month recovering. Yes it should be..but who knows he still take his madicine this time..
Thanks and gracias. Oh, plus ありがとうございます。

That's probably the best performance in Skating history to date. Visually, technically, physically, the entire package.
If u haven't already, look at the best of Boitano and Yagudin and Hamilton :P same with Plushenko
@@foxcatherine I've seen all of his skates from romeo & juliet 1.0 (my favorite one) to most recent Rondo, and H&E. All of his programs are insanely incredible, but I think Chopin is a neat bow that sums up all his skills with a classy atmosphere.

Other skater: Skate to music playing in the background
Yuzu: Music plays to his skating
..What?
@@esterleng860
basically i think (cuz there’s a possibility that i’m wrong) that it means that most other skaters just skate and don’t really connect with the music, which makes it feel like it’s just background music rather than a part of the performance. whereas yuzu’s movements really connect with and complement the music instead.
please correct me if i’m wrong. i am in no ways a professional at figure skating or dancing or music or anything like that

Hey
True story
Whoa. I know nothing about figure skating, but even I can tell that this is a gold performance. Everything, from the execution to the artistry… I have no words. As a musician, I understand how difficult it can be to embody a composer sometimes, but he did perfectly, while doing an extremely athletic sport. This is incredible, 1000/10
[Update]

Tatiana Tarasova said that this program "is a program at the end of which you should not get up, but kneel down and thank God that we are lucky to see this" and I couldn't agree more with her, Yuzuru Hanyu certainly is not unbeatable but he is totally insuperable
I always say: you can beat him but you can't surpass him.
When he's *on* he's unbeatable. Or should be. Even with some mistakes a lot of the times that shouldn't equate to no win (comparing to the level of the program and the other skaters).
Especially with the current level of the top men but that's a discourse for another day.

“The greatest short program of all time”
I came for the Chopin, but stayed for the incredible skater.
I remember this day...after two hours of watching the other skaters, the moment he sets out onto the ice, this tension overwhelmed me and it's probably even more apparent and clear for those watching it live. It was a make-it or break-it moment. Will he endure the injury or will it succumb him.
The moment he landed that first quad, tears rolled down my cheeks. The moment that he landed his beautiful triple axel, a voice echoed through the entire rink if not the whole world... that we are seeing a living legend there and then.
It's been months since the Olympics but I just want to say this again... Welcome back, champion
awww... That's so beautifully said...
He's an angel on Ice and off💙😇
This!
I saw the live stream too, it was about 6am by my country's time when he was about to go on the ice, I had been up since 2am and I was so nervous I was hiding behind a pillow, peering out from behind it. And then he started skating and it felt like the whole arena was holding their breath, and how he just nailed element after element, and I just knew that this was something else. You weren't the only one crying at the end, I was this really weird emotional mess who tried to explain to a friend of mine over skype why I was sat crying over figure skating.
I've seen him live actually! I was in Helsinki for the grand prix, and when he came out, it was like it transformed in to a completely different arena. Seeing him skate, you just KNEW you were seeing a legend. Although it's even more intense, I mean, you can hear the screams of the audience in the background from the videos, but it's nothing like hearing it live. I can just imagine how it must have been at the Olympics.
Same 😭❤ I can't believe it has been 1 year since then.

🤗me
He’s retiring from competitive skating, not ice skating altogether
Watched the last Men's GP competitions and found myself coming back here again. The only male skater who never bored me. The only one I could enjoy watching every time. With the competitions slowly turning into jumping competitions and tarnished by over scoring and just crossovers, programs like this cleanses my eyes. There will never be another skater like him. Some skaters may surpass him in terms of quads but nobody will surpass his musicality, interpretation and artistry. He shows what real figure skating is meant to be. The perfect, textbook skater. The Axel Overlord. The Prince on Ice.
Same, the gp series has reminded me how special Yuzuru is. His talent is so relevant and I hope new generations will remember the beauty of it
There needs to be a video of this FS hanging in the Louvre. The last male skater that had this level of charisma and art/athleticism combo was Alexi Yagudin. That's going back a long way.
The beauty of this brings tears to my eyes, I feel so lucky to be alive to do so.
