One of the interesting things about Caddo Lake is that it use to be the second largest port in Texas behind Galveston which is amazing considering how far it is from the coast. They had steamboat travel from New Orleans to Jefferson, Tx in which passengers, livestock and freight were shuttled between the Gulf of Mexico and Northeast Texas.
