They must measure the foot to the bottom of the thick lines. From 0-6" I think it skips the 1" mark due to the thick line. 6-12" has the correct amount of lines.
You can see looking at it that 0-6" looks smaller than 6-12" due to how they marked with the thick foot lines.

As a former long jumper they stake the shortest mark of your longest jump as your score so I think that is what that is based on for the high jump. The difference being when you long jump you could fall forward in high jump you cant just continue to go higher.

Somebody may have already mentioned this, but Mike O'Malley has a small roll in The Good Place where he plays the lone quasi-customs officer between the afterlife realm and the real-life earth realm. Ted Danson's character gives him 🐸 frog 🐸 knick-knacks to distract him from his inter-realm shenanigans.
I thought that was pretty fitting for our man O'Malley.
When they were drying off and changing after the pool event Purple and Red found O'Malley's stash in the locker room. Red didn't know what planet he was on during the wall slap and Purple was super paranoid during the crag 😂

LOTHT is rigged and not much fun to watch. A lot of people have nostalgia for the game but as adults there's just too much obviously wrong about it.

23:20 You guys talked through them saying measuring the lowest point of the highest prints. Thinking it through, it’s the only part of the spot that you confirm they had a good hand print. It also ignores hand size and finger length so it’s a little more fair to players with smaller hands who are, probably, shorter, too.

The measurement on the high jump "Make Your Mark" event has two rules: the mark must be made with two hands, and you measure from the lowest point of the two hands on your best jump. This measurement convention is similar to that of the long jump in track and field, where you measure to the shortest point of impact in the sand (not the longest point).

On the aerial jump. Theres 10 marks between each number. So its 15.. 4 marks, a longer mark, and then 5 marjs and then 16. So its not tenths, and its not inches. Each mark is 1/11th of a foot....

Season 2 episode 20. My brother, sister in law and I have been watching these in order doing the same draft format for about a year. Just discovered this channel but I promise if you haven’t watched it yet, you won’t be disappointed. Best contestant ever.

Tbf in long jump, you measure the closest point which your body made contact so usually the heel but if you fall backwards it'll be the shortest distance from the start to your body

The high jump measuring must surely be based on the long jump event in track and field where they measure based on the shortest distance the jumpers body landed.

The thing with the high jump hands ... the only thing I can think of. They want to eliminate the fact some of the kids might have bigger hands? So their fingertips will reach up higher
I remember watching this when I was a kid and thinking it was way too hard because they had to go back-and-forth to get the actuators
If the Guts producers had a budget of more than $7.49 per episode, this could have been the greatest show ever. Instead, they can only afford 11 inches per foot and can't let the kid dip his hands more than once in the green paint they obviously stole from a day care just down the street. No way they can heat that pool water. I feel like this was filmed in the back of a YMCA and those creepy guys aren't actually paid helpers, they are residents of the Y.

Dan not only kept looking back but he also just kinda stopped at the final climb. Just stopped didn’t just go. No urgency. I think if he realizes he had to move quicker at the end he probably wins

They measure Make Your Mark basically the same way long jumping is measured, by the shortest distance of your best jump. It's legit.
O'Malley repeatedly saying they measure the lowest point of the highest jump is probably because they just finished shooting the previous episode and everyone was confused as hell as to how they came up with the winner. Producer is in his ear like, "say the thing about it being the lowest part, SAY IT!"

You need to be very hesitant picking red because they almost never win the Aggro Crag. After watching all the episodes it seems like red has the hardest path, purple has the easiest, and blue is neutral. You need to REALLY like a red player to pick them. On the flipside of that, you need to like a blue player a lot to pick them over purple because purple has the advantage on the Aggro Crag.
Highest point of the lower hand would make the most sense.
