It is soooooo bizarre to me that the night before the shooting the parents of the shooter locked him out of the house because he was hallucinating......then took him to school in the morning....!?!? WTH!?!?
Well, abuse is inherently illogical.
They didn't want to deal with him all day, so they left it up to the school.
I’ve been following this case loosely but missed that detail.
Where was this said?
They made it worse, they rejected him totally .. but to buy him the gun 😮 no excuses, they set up for failure 😢
With these two as parents Ethan didn’t stand a chance.
He begged for help 😔
aww....got an excuse for this demon.
@@yogabee2222
Yes & No. If he really wanted help, he would have made that clear when his parents were summoned to his school regarding his alarming graffiti on his math paper. Instead, he explained it away by claiming that he was merely designing a video game. By that time, he was hell-bent on destruction.
The foolish adults bought his b.s. enough to let him return to class without even checking his bag & locker. 20 years ago, that might not have been as glaring an error. Nowadays, however, we have an epidemic of mass shootings in USA -- many of which take place at schools. So tragic & infuriating. 💔

The wording of her lawyer's question and her answer sounded so awful though; it did her more damage than good.
In my opinion, Jen & James should regret letting Ethan have a gun and failing to secure it properly. Jen & James (and the school staff) should regret not searching Ethan's bag & locker. @@sighfly2928
I agree. Sadly.
I haven’t listened to a lot of the testimony and would have to match testimony to jury instructions before knowing how I’d vote if I were on the jury. With that said it seems that her level of receiving signals about her son’s mental seems high enough that at the very least, if she was determined that her son needed a gun to use at the shooting range, his access should be strictly restricted to using at the range. A typical parent would probably be more worried about self harm than a school shooting, but that’s more than reason enough to keep the gun away from the volatile teenager.
Yes. I was a helicopter mom. I cleaned my son's room 2x a week. I looked for drugs, alcohol and weapons. I searched his book bag on a regular basis. And my ex-husband kept his gun in the gun safe. My son was not allowed to have any weapons. His highschool had a zero-tolerance policy. If they caught a student with a gun or knife they were expelled.
She was the exact opposite of a helicopter mom, yeah. Her son was showing clear signs of being disturbed and she blew that off, let him keep his firearm.

If I thought my child was a danger to themselves, I wouldn’t leave their side. If I thought they were a danger to others, I also wouldn’t leave their side. They’d be in a hospital before they ruined their life, or worse, destroyed the lives of others. She is a failure. As a mom, as a human, and as a person with a moral compass. She knew her son was so mentally unwell, yet bought him a gun. She was so dismissive and downright evil about it. I don’t think she’d have cared much if Ethan took his own life. I cannot ans will not condone what Ethan did but I do have some sympathy for him, as hard as it is. Imagine growing up with parents who genuinely don’t care. Like zero care in their hearts for their son. It’s wild. He must’ve felt like such an outsider and so alone in his own home.
This is not about YOU
I believe in our 2nd Amendment rights. I also believe in being responsible for our rights, as do all of the gun owners I know! This Mother went to the school, saw the picture her son had drawn, knew he had access to a gun and never told the school OR took her son home to get the help he was literally said he needed in the picture! This isn't about owning a gun, this isn't about her lifestyle choices, this is about having pertinent information and ignoring it which resulted in the loss of life! If I was on the jury, I would have reached the same conclusion.
They bought him guns, kept their guns and ammunition unsecured. Instead of getting him mental health they took him shooting and joked about shootings with him. This is about CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT gun owners.
She was too busy that afternoon and had to get back to work. Incredible.
Which is why you and every other responsible gun owner in the United States should be on the streets calling for tighter gun control.
Which is why every parent should be on the streets fighting for birth control for people who shouldn’t be parents.
This disturbed teenager could have built an explosive device or lit the school on fire or anything else … and if his parents knew and did nothing, it’s still bad parenting. If kid blew up the school, and they gave him the materials and knew he was mentally struggling, then they shoulder some blame.
But this is about owning a gun... Look I am a 2nd Amendment rights advocate too, many of my friends and family have small armories, but this kid and his parents shouldn't have been able to "own" a gun. The fact that it was so easy for them to put a deadly weapon in a depressed, mentally disturbed, teenager's hands IS the problem. I believe "Well regulated" is in the 2nd Amendment as well. This all feels like complete chaos to me. Common sense gun control is not "taking our guns away" unless you are afraid that you are one of those people that shouldn't own a gun.

Many people miss the point here. It's not about holding the parents responsible for their child's mistake. Individuals ultimately make their own choices. It's about directly providing the means for the crime as being partially responsible for the deaths. They bought a minor firearms. They allowed a minor unrestricted access to firearms. THAT is what it's about. Don't get confused.
I think the same goes for the parents of any. Not in this case but in cases such as columbine which was directly connected to bullying. This is a case where the shooter was probably schizophrenic and his parents responded by buying him a gun.

Yes, because she had multiple affairs and they are trying to play that down. She had more interest in the men and the horses than her own child.
🙄
Seems like it, she's been in jail and gained a lot of weight so it's not like she'd be wearing clothes from her own wardrobe
Common strategy employed by defense teams
That's probably why half the comments are people simping for her.
When it comes to jury's, It's always a crapshoot. Hopefully they make the right decision and put this woman in prison.
She’s so detached, watch her eyes, something wrong with this woman. So focused on herself, blaming her husband and son.
Where was the father?
Watching her bang multiple firemen at the same time.
His trial is next.
it is best not to have kids at all. if they had no kid they would not be in this situation and lives would not have been lost and they would just be getting on with one's life. being chidfree by choice is the best life.
There should be a test before becoming a parent.
Agreed
She’s very unlikeable, she probably was not a good mother, she was selfish and was having an affair, etc. I’m afraid that good parents will now be charged for things, even if they don’t provide their child with a weapon-because they can say, “you were not a good enough parent, so we are charging you, all Just for fun.” This is what is so concerning. This is definitely a messed up and toxic family, but I can see this happening to any family with a child who has mental issues. They were not good parents, no child should have access to a gun like this, especially if they have mental health issues.
I don’t think this means that good parents will be charged for things because of this. Most good parents aren’t giving their mentally ill child a gun, they’re not ignoring concerns raised by school officials, they’re not locking their child out of the house at night and then taking him to school after knowing he had a mental episode and was thinking of killing people at school. Those aren’t the actions of a good parent
They supplied a gun. That's the difference between this case and most other cases of f'ed up kids.
@@10054760To be fair to Jennifer, she was awfully busy getting down with firefighter hunks to tend to her duties as a mom.
No...this is not a slippery slope. The facts of severe negligence in this case is what separates bad parent from good parent.
Context would be nice
Fortunately, you have access to the entire trial right here on YT! Go get your context.
Absolutely despicable parents.
GUILTY
Schuldig
Shes aged
Perhaps this verdict will be the start of bringing some accountability to future parents, enablers, and otherwise irresponsible gun owners where their gun is used in a gun crime, or even an “accident” that involves their gun. A huge part of the gun crimes and accidents in America can be traced back to an irresponsible gun owner.
She was too busy, putting out a fireman fire
...playing with his hose 🙄
This is the proof anyone can have a child but not everybody knows to raise one.
Someone in the comments below asked for any trials against a parent. We didn't have them in the past 'cause we didn't have this shit happening.
It’s always the ego 😢😢😢
This woman is proud of her MAGA values. Her MAGA master won't allow her to feel remorse
😂😂 really? MAGA???
@@negativdrama She worships her MAGA master. Jesus Trump Elvis Christ said "GUNS GUNS GUNS!!!" and Mrs. Crumbly Dumbly Doo Doo said "Yes my MAGA Master, I will give one to my MAGA child as well!"
@@negativdramaYes its really true. She wrote an open letter to the former president praising him for his standing with gun advocates. Here’s a few excerpts from her letter…..
“As a female and a Realtor, thank you for allowing my right to bear arms.”
“Mr. Trump, this is why I voted for you. I see the change that we so desperately need. I see jobs coming back, people having to work for their handouts, money going to who really deserve it,” she added. “If this blog even makes it to your eyes … thank you. From the bottom of my heart.”
Ohhh… you might want to think twice about keeping score on that assessment.
@@minnesotajack1Good call. I'll go ahead and think twice about that......ummm...yup! She's a MAGA Maniac! Thanks for your suggestion!
How does this woman have a husband, an affair, 6k in cash and i can't get a text back ?
Mom
She was not coached to show emotion. Jury probably hated her.
She’s the reason there should be a obligatory parenting course when getting prego
Something that bothers me is the fact that they feel the need to hide the g-n in various different places around the house rather than lock it and keep it in a singularly place. You have a 15 year-old who would know better than to take or search for it. But if you have to keep moving it, you clearly didn’t trust your son. There was some unconscious concern there.
