This video helped me IN SO MANY WAYS I’ve never pulled a engine yet I’m only 18 I got a 05 coupe motor took a 💩 but this series is the best “how to” series I’ve ever watched Thankyou for the series much appreciation for you my man 💪
Thanks for watching and thanks for the awesome feedback, good luck with your project
Did you do it yet?
Dude I'm 19 in the same exact process
Awesome guys you can do it
Soon as my motor comes I will be tackling this task as well.. I'm alittle older though... does anyone have ideas if don't have cherry picker?
Within the first 10 minutes when my man said get the masking tape & label the connectors. I KNEW this was gonna be a VERY HELPFUL video. Excellent Instructor 💯!! My friend thank you for this video!
Great video. You explain things well and make it look easy and gives me hope that I could change the motor in my own car because of this video.
Thx 🙏🏻
even though I dont need this, i appreciate it immensely man. Thanks for working your butt off you deserve high praise and the sub
"Rock on brother" its guys like, YOU that helps out guys that needs assurence on what their doin and that its done rite 😊🎉
Thx
I was able to take mine out thank you so much for this video !!!
Started watching the channel for the vet, because I have one. Now I’m watching removing a civic engine because it’s just awesome stuff!
That’s awesome, I appreciate your comment and you watching my videos. Here’s a link to my favourite video that I’ve ever made should check it out once you’re done watching Civic videos 👉czcams.com/video/r6u5ZJ-oyrU/video.html ✅
Great video, I've been stumped on a couple parts (A/C trick & harness going into timing cover), you really cleared that up for me, along with dropping the engine down to pull underneath. Great stuff man, keep it up!
Thx
What a guy, thanks a lot dude, this is an amazing channel!!
Thx
Great video .
New sub.
This is exactly the video I needed.
Awesome thanks for subscribe
thanks for hte vid. i didnt pull my trans, just the engine but im reinstalling this week after i rebuilt it. so using this as a reference. i broke that cam sensor and cracked the transmission bell housing when i removed it. so much dirt i could not see bolts and wiring in the caked mud/muck so i missed some stuff. luckily the cam sensor is cheap and i just welded the bolt ear back onto the trans case.
fun times
Appreciate your instruction
Awesome thank you so much
God bless u, couldnt find a video with the full process
Nice
Ty so much my civic freaking died because of the time chain that broke and destroyed everything from the motor
Gotta swap it for another
Awesome video! Didn’t realize Canada had an Acura version🙂 the booty on it looks similar to an 02 accord. Going to be ordering a d17a for my civic soon
I just ordered mine last night. How long does it take?
Where did you order from?
Doing this on my 05 civic sedan 5spd as soon as it’s warm out. Would’ve loved to get the acura for the interior and the body style. I’m thinking of putting a k20 in instead of a d17 since you don’t get VTEC with d17. THE MOST reliable engine I’ve ever owned by far as long as you put oil in it. I have a 9th Gen si coupe and I already built the block just waiting on the turbo kit 💪🏼
Don’t pull the engine from underneath the car this dude makes it so much harder then it needs to be
Muchas gracias amigo me sirvio muchísimo
No problema
Great video , and a big help ! Also you look like Oliver trees dad
Thanks and thanks
This is great
Some shit I would do
Whatever works to get the job done
Good vid tho keep doing them🤘🤘
Nobody’s into My Honda Civic videos really but thanks for watching and I try to show everything, I’m glad it’s helping at least a few people out
Interesting to just drop engine with trans, curious approximately how high it needs to go up to bring it under?
Hello, I follow your video to install a used motor on my son's civic. I was wondering if you can help me with any advice. Do I need to recode the ecu? It won't start
You should not have to, It should just work
Nice video. I have an 2005 honda civic and my mechanic said their's engine oil mixing with the coolant and therefore needs a new engine. is this true? he opened the coolent cap and showed me the coolent bubbling.
You either need a new engine or a new head gasket, unless somethings cracked somewhere, the machine shop will test the head when you get it re-machine before installing the new head gasket.
What size is your impact
I have a 05 el. The d17 is toast. I wanna get k24 in there, would it be smarter to get it done professionally or can it be done at home over a longer period?
If you want it to be reliable and you wanna drive just put the same engine in, once you start upgrading things and changing things you won’t have a reliable car anymore
@@ProblemSolverGarage very logical thanks
Hey man! Great video watched it
Couple times and about to do mine this weekend. I was told the pan swap doesn’t matter ? Thoughts opinions ? And wouldn’t it be easier to pull from
Top. Looks like a straight shot up? Thank you! Great great video
Not Enough room to go up
Almost looked like straight shot
Up. Doing it this weekend
@@jacobchurchill8163 just pulled mine out the top, with engine/trans connected and all the accessories on like A/c compressor, alternator, and starter all stayed on. Took me 45 to pull
I bought a 02 honda civic ex sedan, and when i bought it on google said it came with v-tec? but the valve cover didn't say v-tec at all
check for the vtec solenoid on the back of the valve cover. Even if you get one with a vote but you care doesn't have you. leave it alone or just replace it with a metal back plate
Great video-great work- the only thing I didnt like was all the way you have the car supported /it is unsafe.
Should have used safety jacks to begin with -rather then mentioning them in video.
On a automatic can u take the engine out all in one piece like the engine and transmission would still be bolted together
Yes
That’s the only way, same processes as in this video
Yes or you could just pull engine from the top separate from the transmission only on a/t from what I've seen.
Will this method be the same for a 1991 lx civic 4th gen ?
Probably not, you will need to buy the book or watch a good video on your generation
@@ProblemSolverGarage which book you talking about the manual?
Will a vtech engine work on a non vtech ECU and harness and don't plug in VTech
There is some stuff for you to change you have to do some research
@@ProblemSolverGaragewhat about a non vtec on a vtec harness
Would the bumper of this car fit my Honda Civic ex 2003
You would need the bumper the hood and both fenders and the lights.
Would be a super cool mod for the state, since they don't exist there
Currently 14 got my first car today i hope this works
That’s great, just be careful remember “if a car falls on you you are dead”
How do I disconnect engine from transmission, do I need to replace the clutch wheel?
Here’s a link to episode two 👉czcams.com/video/Dv4NYwSz8kU/video.html ✅
@@ProblemSolverGarage it’s hard for someone who’s doing it for the first time 💔😞
Take your time, good luck
So for the starter what do I do I’m swapping a automatic transmission engine into a Manuel transmission engine bay what do I do about the starter
I don’t understand the question but that’s exactly what I’m doing in these three videos just follow the videos, I believe the starters are the same from what I remember
@@ProblemSolverGarage yeah I watched till the end you did the exact same swap I did the only reason the starter is in a different place is because of the different flywheel assembly and the starter attaches on the transmission I was wondering if you couldn’t swap the motor form a auto to a Manuel because of the different starter location but you just half to put the clutch and everything on the new motor
Correct
@@ProblemSolverGarage idk if you would know but am i able to boost the enigne with the stock d17 intake manifold
Sorry not too sure
Anyway you can lift from top?
Manual transmission yes, automatic transmission n, but it’s easier to go from underneath
What's the name of the thing that you're were using for lowering the engine? Where can I rent it?
You mean the engine hoist?
@@ProblemSolverGarage that's the name, there's not place to rent it, right? Gotta buy one
Is it possible rip out the transmission and engine together and put a new one in together as a single unit? Or do you need to take them out and put it in individually?
You can do it together
If both engines are manual , there is no need to remove the starter?
The new engine came out of an automatic
My mechanic found an engine with 104 thousand miles on it for almost 600 dollars .. or so and he's putting it in my 2001 honda civic.. the old engine had 180 thousand miles on it... the engine is coming on Monday or Tuesday this coming week! I'll have my car back next week!
Is this a Automatic or Standard my bro?
is this a manual or automatic?
Manual
How long did it take you to take the engine out in reality?
2 days
2 half days you could do it in one day
“You should be wearing gloves” 🤣
Hard to wear gloves when you’re recording
@@ProblemSolverGarage I should take that advice. I only wear gloves sometimes.
You could of just tooken the motor mounts off and lift the engine out instead of taking it out with the subframe doing all that work to take it out underneath
Honestly, I've done it both ways and going out the bottom is quicker. Either way, you'll get the same result, a working car.
@1:22 what is that relay?
Fuel pump relay, prevents The fuel pump in the gas tank from pumping fuel if you pull it out
Remove with out using a hoist. Proceeds to show us the hoist he is gonna use 😆 🤣 😂 I'm freaking crying.
A hoist to lift the car, not a cherry picker to raise the engine.
Your not dirty cut
Does no one realize that this isnt even a honda civic
It’s Acura el , Canadian version of the Honda Civic, Honda engine Honda transmission.
It is the exact same thing in every way except for the front and rear bumper.
I did explain that in the video
