  • 5 tugs worked in the early morning hours to move the Dali from the Francis Scott Key Bridge Site. After losing power the ship crashed into the bridge causing a collapse and the deaths of six workers .

Yes May 20th 2024 yesterday early morning was a very big day and an very long day for Capt Andy and his Crew. And I was truly thinking that they were going wait as long as possible until moving the Dali away. That sunrise was at 6:48am and it was at 6:51am that the Dila started to move. And that single Blowing of the Horn by the Tug saying that it's moving back to Dock.

Andy, this is my first comment as a Sailor, I 'm in the UK and have been watching you almost since you started, so I've been here with in spirit, if not actually there for a long time, as a silent witness. Your live b/casts were a prime reason for me to start watching them, as you have given so much to the world, by showing exactly how much damage had been done, and how things were being done to sort out the clearance programme as it happened. Thank you for all you did during that time, it was the most interesting thing on YT. I was watching from just before first light your time, and stayed until the end with some pauses in the stream, for usual reasons, but I was there to see the first slip LIVE, that was not just a relief for me but Baltimore for the fact they could get their port back. That was when i decided the only way to thank you for all your time and investment, was to join "the navy". I had meant to do so before but like everyone, got distracted many times. So where do we go from here? Any idea where our next trip is going to be? Thanks once again for such an informative voice-over throughout. I had always wondered where you got the name, and finally near to the end you explained where you "came from" that was a fascinating piece of info I'd never heard of so that has gone right into my mental storage box of interesting things to remember. Sorry this comment has gone on so long but I've seen such a lot and learned such a lot too, I can finally thank you. THANK YOU ANDY, sorry perhaps I should have said , thank you Captain. BCNU.m Thanks again from UK.

"...will be MANDITORY to be tugged in and out...." --- Why? Baltimore is not a tough harbor. Good rudder, good headway, mind the channel and the bridge, easy-peasy! Well, compared to many other harbors. Somehow Dali sailed without reliable rudder and/or headway, and lost steering at the wrong moment. (If it had started through the bridge when control was lost, it would have coasted through and drifted out to sea, or had plenty time to call for a tug.)

And just seeing how they have been doing everything in steps. And some of those steps maybe small ones. But they are to take a much bigger Step. And moving the Dali away was one of those big huge Steps. And it's going to take time for all of these Steps to come together to the finish line. And that is the opening of the New Bridge. Andy: I'm no maritime lawyer, but I believe that ONE of the many REASONS the crew stayed aboard to prevent the ship from becoming a derelict, therefore subject to salvage laws. With the crew aboard the ship remained manned and remained property of the owner, preventing salvage laws from taking over. Of course you are right about them staying aboard because they knew the ship better than anyone else. A third reason may have to do with immigration and passport laws, but again, I don't know. Thanks for the videos, all of them ever since the Golden Ray. Have a great vacation at home. Jon

That was some great coverage! We would have not known a 1/4 of what you have provided in info and coverage if it it wasn't for you and your many friends that supported you. Hat's off to all involved! I was with ya the whole way. Look forward to your future streams. Get some well earned comfort time. 🏁

Andy!!!! You do know I was kidding when I suggested, a couple months ago, that you needed to go TO Baltimore to video this for us! Boy, I'm glad you actually went. OK, an award for your coverage of the Golden Ray and I wonder what will happen with your coverage of the Dali. I do know you have been mentioned, a lot, but a couple of other people I follow on CZcams. Well deserved, sir.
It was so cool to watch the ship actually start to move a 6:51 yesterday morning. You were there showing us and I was there watching over breakfast. Well done and thank you!

Looking back at the footage and timestamps on the cameras, looks like movement started at 6:45

I was switching back and forth between your stream and STL. The first motion I noticed was the bow heeling over to port a little just before the ship started moving rearward.

So far as the Baltimore harbour is concerned, a quotation, after a famous battle in North Africa in 1942, "This is not the end, it is not the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps, the end of the beginning.

I was there with you Captain Andy and I could think of anywhere else I would rather have been. It was such a milestone. It felt quite poignant to see the Dali disappear around the corner. The end of one era and the beginning of another. I thought about the workers who sadly lost their lives doing their job.
I'm glad it's out of the way of the clean up effort to get the channel open. Thousands of jobs rely on it.
Enjoy your days at home, you have well and truly earned them. We'll be here waiting for you when you come back. 😊

Hi Minorcan Andy, I really really enjoyed staying up all night watching you show us your version of the event. It was so exhilarating to see it moved, then after you went offline, I checked in on the TV NEWS Of Baltimore, to Finish seeing how the Dali was Being Parked at the Port. The Helicopter hovered over it the whole time. Very Interesting. I will continue to watch On and Off of the Clean Up. But The Dali was always Priority. I've never seen a Cargo Ship Up Close and That Big, But This video Showed it's Big Glory of Size. And You Did it for us. A Big Big Thank you captain. Terry Of Florida.
