    Woody I had the same problem with my weed eater. I switched to Ryobi one. The pro is the heads are disposable and you don't have to hassle with threading those stupid other heads. The con is that they're disposable so probably going to cost more over time, personally for me it's worth the cost. The only potential problem for you would be your large property, because it's battery powered. but if you buy the bigger wattage one it should work, especially if you get an extra battery. sorry for the long comment. love the vids, you're the man keep it up!

    Echo gt 225 has a great head to the weed whipper. I used the same as yours for years until I found that one, would never go back. You just poke a piece of string in, and that's it! It's held in by friction. I pre-cut a few lengths of string and if one ever breaks (rare because it's so thick), I just poke another one through! Soooo much easier!

  • @NickSmith-cd7rs
    @NickSmith-cd7rs Před 8 lety

    Echo has a system where you cut individual lengths of twine, and feed them through a ratchet system when the previous wear out

  • @Fango925
    @Fango925 Před 8 lety

    Woody, don't put the string on connected for both sides. it's easier if you cut two equal length strings and string them through independently. feeds better. downside is that the string, especially when yours almost out, can come flying out. there's also another weed whip head, I can't remember the name of it, but you feed the string through and then turn it to string it. lots of professionals use it

  • @AaronCMorris
    @AaronCMorris Před 8 lety

    Ok. I have a lawn business. First. When measuring you line use your arms length to measure. Pull it out three times your arms length. Then cut that. Then cut that length in half. The middle piece on your head has little holes where you can shove the string into then spool it up, first the top one then the bottom one. Second. Get a bigger test of line. .95 is what I use. It will cut those bigger weeds down faster. Third. Take off the safety guard that is cutting the line. You can get a bigger spread on the line and get better results. I hope this helps.

    Way back when I tested out a 40 V B&D grass trimmer. The trimmer was great. The automatic head was even better. I did not mess with the splines at all. Unfortunately, the battery only operated about 17 minutes on high before being drained. If only they had a gas operated model, I would trade my Stihl model for it. Now I have the 90R Stihl model and a quarter of my time is fussing with the head.

  • @varangian95
    @varangian95 Před 8 lety

    regarding weed whacking - Stihl do steel bladed heads for them. not quite the range of a string head, but it'll cut through thicker undergrowth. Also easier to maintain, just hone the edge now and again.

  • @screaminpotato

  • @Jaime_Rob

    @woodysgamertag Go to homedepot and buy the echo speed-feed head for your trimmer. Stihl is a great trimmer but has a horrible head design, you will like the echo. Its a easy simple design. Some people are saying buy thicker line but thicker line with bog down your trimmer which doesn't give a clean cut, I used the orange line from echo. This is coming from a person who did landscaping work for 2 years.

    • @Jaime_Rob
      @Jaime_Rob Před 8 lety +1

      Also I think your feeding the line in wrong, one should go one way and the other to the other way, I could be wrong tho. I STILL recommend the Echo speed-feed. Lastly make sure you bump the ground with the head to get more line out. I didnt see you doing that based off the video.

    1) if you don't start saying "Para-Pals" I'm going to lose it 2) Craftsman has a great weedeater feeding design where you thread only what you need into the head. When it's worn out, simply thread in 2 more pieces of line. Simple, and dumped easy. So what you're wanting is out there. 3) We need to host a class to teach your fam how to operate zero turn mowers so you won't have so much weed eating to do

    Woody, try the Worx GT. They are battery powered Weed Wackers and they work GREAT. My dad got one about 2-3 years ago and he loves them. The spoil is really easy to change, all you do it put it through this hole and put it on and it does the rest. The weed wacker automatically puts out the required spool and it's not nearly as hard. The weed wacker itself is light is amazing. My dad regrets not getting it early. He loves using it, I have one too and love it so much, it makes the job easier. Just a suggestion you should check out. They are cheap also
