I may not be interested in these cars. But I enjoy seeing these 2 human beings reviewing it together.
If safety is your paramount priority, cx8 is the clear winner. The side curtain airbags extend to third raw in cx8 providing extra safety to third raw passengers which is not available in Santa fe.

Great and informative review, but I was expecting a a quarter mile drag race between the 2 of them.
Santa Fe is a lovely SUV.. But to bad most Malaysian got infection by others saying that Toyota/Honda were better.. sigh.. btw, rindu lah sama these two handsome guys reviewing together.

For the 3rd row seating, CX8 is better as the 3rd row dome/boot light lit on for better visibility when the car door opens.
For cargo versatility, Santa Fe is better. Not to forget to include the storage below the floor, & how easy it is to keep the cargo blind.
great video. Love it! Btw, how's the fc on both cars in real world driving? I saw the Mazda returning a 8.8km/l on the dashboard computer which is seriously bad for a diesel vehicle, or was it after a 'hard' drive?
The both of you review very well and I enjoy your reviews. However, just a note that Hyundai replaced this model within a year with a totally new model. The new. Santa Fe has a much more quieter engine and looks upmarket to Justify it’s upwards 200K price. Being a Santa Fe owner for the last 7 years, I wouldn’t upgrade to this model but would consider the latest model not yet in Malaysia.
If hyundai malaysia bring the newer facelift 2022 and with full ADAS other Suv 7 seater will lose and fail to fight with it.
You can adjust the delay and distance for the walk away lock.

In other markets Santa Fe has had a major facelift.
It would be perfect if they put Tiguan Allspace 2.0 for comparison since the price is quite similar and also a 7 seater SUV. Anyway, looks like Santa Fe for me over CX-8. If i’m not mistaken the diesel version only comes with 6 seater instead of 7 which is a letdown for me.

one feature i discovered about the CX8 is that, if you have another Mazda key inside the CX8, it will actually chime at you to let you know
Another one is that: even if the i-stop is active, you can actually stop without having engine close if you hold the brakes lightly/pre-halfway

Yes! It is quiet hard to adapt this style from Kia and Hyundai...
Its interesting to see these two SUVs side by side, because I was comparing them 2 years ago before settling with CX8. My main reason were:
1) ADAS
2) Free service for 5 years/100,000 km
If only Santa Fe came with ADAS, I would go for it rather than CX8.

For mazda strictly B7 only
The cars cost a lot due to hefty taxes. Plus both are not 7 seaters. Only hyundai is 7 sester.

New CX 8 2022
Once you drive the Santa Fe you won’t even care to hop into the CX-8. 10hp more and better NVH on the Santa Fe is just more car-like. Heck, even DM generation has better NVH and that’s why there are still many running around.

You are just days away from the cx8 facelift chiefs, Im sure you knew about this, why do this review at this time ? You guys are reviewing a 4 year old car for the cx8. Would have been better to wait a month longer to get the facelift reviewed instead.
What region is this? I’m from USA. And our Hyundai Santa Fe’s have so much more equipment. From full digital driver display to Highway Driving Assist. Ventilated front seats. Heated steering wheel. Leather door panels. Microfiber Headliners. 50cm rim tire size options. And a major thing. We have a Plug-In Hybrid Version… I’m confused why manufacturers do this..
This is Malaysian Country that's why some manufactured Cars always Downgrade the specs for Attarct and be competitive To fight other competitor.
C n D segment car less dominated here, mostly B n A segment, sound abit weird but most B segment owner here have 2-6 car , C n D segment owner have 1-2 only
One thing I don't like the CX8 would be the car looks weirdly long tall and narrow. Unlike the CX9 it is more well proportioned
Cx-8 is s lot cheaper. If the awd comes eith a 7 seater, not much difference from cx-9.
@@syedputra5955 personally I find the seat kinda weird with the huge arm rest in the middle for the top diesel spec. It could have been so much better if customers are allowed to choose the middle row

Of course there is, the new 2022 model top line Calligraphy variant, that sports a full Panorama Glass Roof and a full suite of safety features that's makes the Mazda pale in comparison. This video was supposedly uploaded 6 months ago, so Malaysia cannot in all seriousness profess that the Santa Fe in this video is a 2022 model, when in fact it's a 2019/20 model...

Its very obvious that you guys only present the car how its want to be presented. Look at the design of Santa Fe, there is a hazardous design on the rear signal light position. Try to tailgate or simulate a traffic jam (bumper to bumper distance in a SUV or MPV) which is a common scenario in Malaysia. Can you even tell if this version of Santa Fe want to go straight or turn? Over designed over useability/practicality!
Santa fe is a much better car. Much much more solid and premium. CX8 looks dull

One thing is impressive about the CX8 is that:
you can have Nappa Leather, 360 cam, heads-up display, very good safety tech stuff without having to spend RM400K
*not only that, boot space with 3rd row-one seat down, and its already spacious for cargo
Santa Fe use Nappa since 2010 . CMr model
CX8 does not look timeless... it looks like old CX5.... the front grille is obviously recycled... major turn off
Cx8 is another bland, boring and mediocre-looking mazda..it looks just the same as its other siblings i.e. cx3, cx5, cx30 etc etc..no surprise features at all..mazda is playing safe too much..
