When I saw this event as a teenager, I saw McNeeley as a clown. Now, I see him as a man. He promoted the fight like crazy, leaned into his role, showed no fear, and gave everyone the spectacle they wanted. He did his job.
McNeely literally rushed Tyson at the bell, trying to overwhelm him and beat him at his own game. When he was knocked down, he got up, did it again.
A bit clownish, maybe, but damn if he didn’t show insane courage and give the crowd a show. Zero hate. Absolute respect for that.
@@TechnoLawyer Doing the same exact thing, over and over, while expecting different results is the definition of insanity
@@TechnoLawyer He was a clown. He was a lie, with a bloated record of literal binmen and firefighters, so his managers could feed him to tyson and cash out.
The tradegey was, he seemed to beleive the lie.
@@dylanburston7453 He couldn’t have. Even Larry Holmes didn’t think he could win when he fought Tyson and did so for the payday - and Larry Holmes on his worst day would have still destroyed McNeely.
McNeely was offered up for the big payday, understood he was there to get clobbered, and decided to make a show out of it. That’s why his corner was so quick to stop it once he started getting hurt for real - I’m sure they knew his plan to rush at the bell and had an agreement to jump in to save him the moment he looked to be getting hurt for real.
And he did make a show out of it. Rushing Mike in his prime was the closest thing to suicide as there was in boxing. And McNeely did it. Twice in a row. I’ll respect his lunatic bravery.
@@TechnoLawyer Doesnt change the fact that mcneely was faker than my abbibas trainers.
What pisses me off the most is that it meant mike was "eligible" for the WBC title shot over lennox lewis.
So you had one man who took 17 rounds and a dodgy stoppage to get rid of ruddock, a 3 year lay off, then beats a nobody.
v
a guy who beat ruddock in 4 minuites, and had just beaten ray mercer and tommy morrison.
So mike got the title shot, then ducked lewis twice by paying 4 mil then vaccating, then lost to evander twice.
its a joke of a fight that should be taken as seriously as a tyson fury promise
McNeely gave a good account of himself , he wasnt scared of Tyson and gave him a fight , which is more than 99% of people could do.
"McNeely gave a good account of himself" Uh, dude, he lasted for just half of the first round.
@@bruceching4078 which is more than 99% of people could do
@@tomash6805 based
@@tomash6805 😀😅😂If lasting for only half of the first round is giving "a good account of himself," then most of Tyson's other opponents gave supremely good accounts of themselves. Standards, dude.
Yeah he really showed Tyson that he could last 89 seconds real well.😳😳😳
McNeely said years later Tyson called him up he had ran into someone that Tyson remembered knew him and asked for his number anyway he said they went out and had a great time and Mike wouldn't let him pay for nothing, it was just out of the blue and he was saying that Mike was really a good guy and they were still friends to this day.
Mike is a good guy, nuff said
Its all business, they fight for money. 💯
Because he got Mike's respect😊
Mike respected fighters who respected him.
Great call.
Dude had balls to step into the ring like that against Tyson
what u talking about the dude is at LEAST 6,5
@@stormrageillidan1039you’ve never boxed otherwise you would know height means nothing !
Bigger balls to his trainer who stopped the fight.
@@init4208today means everything
Damn straight!
ANYONE who is willing to rush tyson in a fight has balls in my book
bro the stare down at the beginning was one of the scariest stare downs in history. Mike looked like he was gonna pick dude up and just swallow him whole right there in the middle of the ring.
Mike was the ultimate Badass.
ultimate braai master😂
Keyword here....was!😊
Never beat a HOF'er in their prime. Only nine title defenses. Retired before age 30....
Beat by Douglas....
Beat TWICE by Holyfield.
Tyson is the most OVERRATED champ of all time.
Baddest man on the planet 😉
@@francus7227yeah your not wrong! He also never avenged a defeat or got up off the canvas to win a fight.
Man the intensity and iron focus in Mikes eyes as they just followed McNeely as he swayed is crazy
Dude really had to write that down on paper lol
Mike could talk the talk and definitely walk the walk !
Love you Iron Mike 👍
I saw him running the run and sitting up the sit ups in this video too. In another video, I saw Mike was also able to drive the drive.
McNeely more than anything else, he was definitely fearless, I'll give him that! 😅
Deep down I think he was scared to death 😂
Mike Tyson the world champion 🏆
you just don't see heavy weight fights like this any more
اتفق معك بكل تأكيد
"Despite admirable bravery, McNeeley's strategy backfired"😂😂
Good people in McNeeleys corner.
What many people don’t know. After his release from prison he struggled with addiction for the rest of his career
Absolutely right there klaus .. it was his drink and drug addictions that caused his decline in the sport more than anything else 🥊
Everybody knows that
@@travzimmerman1340 I didn't
@@travzimmerman1340 i didnt know that, thanks for your comment tho
@@MichaelWhite-cx4ho
Seriously? Pretty common knowledge.
If McNeeley hadn't been so successful as a boxer, he could have been a poet laureate at any prestigious Ivy league school, maybe Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, even the University of Pennsylvania. "...them make soon, because remember what happens when I wrap you in my cocoon." So damn beautiful.
if you dont think so.. you probably have a big dump in your pants. ~mcneely
Shakespeare never wrote anything like that.
😅
I want to be wrapped like this
Funny thing is watching this live how Peter kept dodging Tysons punches. We thought it wasn’t real then Iron Mike starting connecting and nighty night.
Mike didn't knock him out. Did you see the fight?
The fight ended by disqualification when McNeely's corner entered the ring during the fight.
@@travzimmerman1340 i was impress that he was able to dodge so many hits from tyson amd the one that landed in his face, he held up strong.
McNeely should have known he was doomed the second Tyson's eyes followed him as he rocked back and forth.
That huge smile before the fight haha
He smiled all the way to the bank 😁
McNeely at the start of the fight - “LEEROOOYYY JENKINS!”
Boxing history is fantastic, not least including the Mike Tyson era. The McNeely fight, following Tyson's year-long absence from the scene, is memorable indeed, thanks very much for posting...
Tyson is one great boxer
What a great fight ! Just like watching it for the first time again
Tyson was the greatest heavy weight of all time! He's a legend 🙌🏽 🏆
Mike is the people's champ win or lose.
Tyson is the Best EVER.
Mike is the man!!!
He’s still a beast
That’s racist.
i really like your videos keep up the good work :)
During his speech mikes over there like 💪🏾💪🏾👀
Mission accomplished. It's engaging dude
Anyone that got in the ring with iron mike had a whole lot of guts
LOVE love LOVE this!
Definitely Tyson’s toughest look .Abs show it
1985-86 Tyson was the prime, it was over when Cuz died! This is the Gym Tyson, the prime Tyson was doing calisthenics
@@chaseroneeightsevenIt was over when Jim Jacobs died. He was the last person Mike would listen to because he was there from the beginning when Cus raised Mike. He was essentially family.
According to this clip, Mike held a press conference 3 weeks _before_ being released from prison. They're mighty accommodating in Indiana.
just came across your cahnnel & subscribed. love that style
Mike's eyes were tracking his face like Radar tracking an Iron Ball. That kills me every time I watch it.😂
Great video!
Another great and insightful video from one of CZcamss best uploaders for this kind of content.
Thank you The World of Boxing.
Great times of heavyweight boxing!
Peter went all on, raw punching power and guts. It could have gone differently, but Tyson is a different animal. Huge respect for Pete. Strong lad, big heart.
Great rival. A fighter.
Always fun to watch
I never saw Tyson career as it was happening because I lived overseas in Japan but by CZcams I am able to watch how devastating he was!
You probably still know more than 99% of the idiots in the comments.
One of the best to ever do it.
Un bon leçon de Mike Tyson 😊😊😊😊
Somebody give the person who is narrating this fight a raise. I saw this fight at the time this guy was not in Tysons league they meaning Don king did a great promotion job, on this fight.
king is roadkill
The cold look on mikes face when mills lane was giving instructions. Just watching the other guy moving back and forth like he was nothing… chilling
Man I used to watch him fight in the ring when I was a kid and my dad and everyone was glued to the TV 😅😅😂😂
Fantastic!
Handshake before and a hug after. Just because you are fighting doesn't mean you forget class.
Thank you
this fight and McNeele is a prove that we live in the Matrix😅
...the Press Converence and The Way he Acts... looks like out of a Comedy Movie 🤣🤣
Back in 90s professional boxing adapted pre-fight theatrics of American Wrestling
McNeeley definitely fought to win. He didn't come to play for no second
Great video
Nice video
Love it.
the best video 🚀🚀🚀
VERY NICE !!!
McNeely really went in there to get the k.o. He was throwing heat and accepting the punches coming back. Props.
Great technique boxer ever seen iron mike Tyson
Would never see an underdog these days go for it from the off the way McNeeley did. People like Joshua who are heavy favourites don't start this aggressive FFS. Respect to you McNeeley
Greaaaat!
I was a kid when this happened. It was rhe first boxing fight my father was interested in, as we're from, Medford, Massachusetts.
We all knew Peter was gonna fail epically, but we all watched nonetheless
Iron Mike.
It was a amazing fight
what???
No, it wasn't. Mike had a ton of ring rust and couldn't get Peter out of there. Feather fisted McNeely actually tagged Mike clean once.
Horrendously bad fight that ended by DQ.
Best boxer ever lived.
Toller Kämpfer war der Tyson 👍
انه بطلا يستحق كل الحب والاحترام
Believe it or not however Mike Tyson still the strongger n.the Best .thanks❤❤❤
I am huge fan of iron Mike Tyson
We not gonna talk about Donald trump in the crowd near the start of the video😂

He beat Larry Holmes, Leon Spinks and HolyField when he bite his ear of haha
McNeely got hit in the mouth and wasn't smiling long. That punishing uppercut. My God Tyson was quick and strong as an Ox. Rare combo.
I ❤ see Mike go
I'm glad that he saved his life because of the refree stop.
When my uncle first showed me this, in 1999 before I heard his speech I kinda knew he was going lose because his dad lost to Floyd Patterson, then seeing the same trainer in the ring with Mike Tyson and the same fighting style that give me like questions on how is his son going won against a fighting style that he could not win against
King Mike!! Respect!!
McNeely had balls!
Tyson is tight son... Tats it
Peter McNeely sounds a lot like the dude from the PF commercial "I lift things up and put them down" combined with John Belushi.
For any man to run at iron mike like this back in the day deserves everybodys respect, and defo got tysons,he sold that fight to the max, went head to head with the man, yeah got smashed but fair play to him
Mike tyson ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️💟💟💟💟
I always felt bad for McNeeley. Something not right with him. But the guy had all the guts in the world.
Well. couldnt ask for more right

Iron Mike lives forever as the Bklyn champ. I have friends from Bklyn that live in Catskill that hung out in Leads with Iron Mike.
I am studying Mike Tyson way of fighting
Hey you! Yes, you who are reading this. Have a nice day!!)))
That stare
If Tyson would have taken care of himself and trained and lived a life of surrounding himself with people who really cared about him like Cus did, he would have been unstoppable for a long long time. And totally stay away from Don King. When Buster Douglas stopped Tyson, Don King stepped over Tyson to get in Douglas' ear. Losing Cus was the glue that held Tyson together. I think there is only one man in history that could have handled Tyson in the ring when Tyson was in his prime and Cus was still alive. That was Ali in his prime.
Foreman in his prime, too.
Hey Tyson fangirls, enough with the nonsensical excuses. Mike is criminally overrated. He ruled one of the worst eras in HW history, the mid to late 80s. He was taken the distance "in his prime" by Tillis Tucker Smith and Green. He was obliterated at the age of 23 but Douglas. His 2 most noteable wins are against a blown up LHW and Grandpa Holmes. He avoided everyone, outside of Evander, in the 90s and he only took the Holyfield fight after witnessing how bacl Evander looked in the Czyz fight. He paid Lewis $4,000,000 step-aside money and vacated a belt to not fight him. Had Tyson's career started in '90 instead of '95 we wouldnt even be talking about him.
@@travzimmerman1340sorry what do you mean had his career started in 90 instead of 95… I’m guessing you mean 85.
You don’t have to be a boxing expert to notice after he ditched his training team and joined Don king his movement changed.
just before his fight that was his first loss the interviewers were asking him why hasn’t he been training and seen out partying the nights away and very cocky he said I don’t need to train and then he lost his fight.
I know this sounds like an excuse for him but this is facts that even boxing legends have been heard saying that he wasn’t the same.
Yep.. even though he became a legend his potential was seriously wasted. Yet I still find him one of the most exciting to watch.
