Now I haven’t watched Cheers since the 90’s, but I seem to remember there was an episode where everyone’s skin was melting off like it was made of wax because of something to do with Woody’s blood oath to Oa’tchu, the Unholy Devourer. Was that the same one?

This video encapsulates the experience of becoming an alcoholic, and I will explain why: At first everything seems pleasant and cheerful (haha). Drinking starts out as a relatively fun and innocuous pastime, like this video. Then something goes wrong. You throw up for the first time. You also start craving a drink at times when other people are not drinking. Things get a little weird, but it's still like you remember it, but there is a sinister undertone. People say things like, "Haha! You sure are drinking, missy!" Or you fall down in a public place while drunk. Or you curse at your parents and tell your father to eat shit. Gradually you start to realize you're all alone and your entire existence revolves around getting drunk. Nothing makes sense anymore and everything is frightening, and the fear makes you want a drink. You need a drink. The thought of facing the horror of daily life terrifies you beyond belief. The world becomes a surrealistic nightmare. People make it worse by asking you if you're okay. How did all these bottles and cans get here? You can't be sure. What happened last night? Why can't you remember? What's going on? You can't see any way out. Hell is real and you are in it. How did you get in? You can't say for sure. You always feel like vomiting. You can vomit on command. Think about the worst case of heartburn or nausea you've had. Now imagine that all the time, and drinking makes it worse, but you need to drink to keep the monsters away. You are constantly tasting vomit and acid at the back of your throat. Your stomach hurts all the time and your abdomen hurts when you touch it. *Cheers.*
