I guess you had to mention bill Cosby drama and no one else's
Wish Y2K did happen and I never rewind a tape to return to the store will never forget about dail up internet
How about a list of the worst series finales. Because, Who's the Boss and Night Court belong on that one.
My 8th grade math class had a test the day after the MASH finale, and we convinced the teacher to put it off by one day because nobody would be studying that night, we'd all be watching MASH.
Those times will never happen again as long as I could see, what a blessing and a great memory to have.
@@ScoobyandShaggy5554 Eh, not country wide, but I could absolutely see a similar situation when a local sport team is in the championship.
@@jonmendelson1104 maybe the world cup final
You must be extra old mash was forever ago
@@ratedrva757 Not that old. I'm guessing around 52 since the finale was in 1983 and 8th grade is around 13 years old.
I'm surprised that "Boy Meets World" didn't get an honorable mention. The series finale, titled "Brave New World" was an iconic episode that drew in a crowd of 17.1 million. One of the greatest moments was at the end when Cory, Shawn, Topanga, and Eric say their final goodbyes to Mr. Feeny, and even though he refuses to tell them he loves them while they're present, after they leave Mr. Feeny looks around the empty classroom and says the final line of the series: "I love you all. Class dismissed."
Lowkey made me so sad
It was iconic, it felt forced fed
That was great end for that show so was wonder years to
That scene gets me every time
These are most watched. Boy Meets World was never that popular
Raymond’s ending was so simple, and that’s what made it memorable.
The simple endings are usually the best ones! Just make it all about the characters and why we loved watching them, nothing else!
‘Let me tell you something, I ain’t nothing without you……Archie to Edith(All in the Family) so poignant, perfect and sweet.
The Cheers finale was perfection.
*Sorry, we're closed.*
It perfectly ruined how I thought and wanted the show to end
It was 1993, and originally the man knocking on the door of it being closed was going to be Bill Clinton.
@@VicGeorge2K6 what ?
It felt good timing
@Jed Flanders that's a actual series finale
I still think the ending to Newhart is the best series finale I have seen. It was just pure genius and hilarious. TBH that whole show was great but it was especially great after Larry Darryl and Darryl, Stephanie and Michael came into it.
I agree. It was BRILLIANT!
Sam straightening the photo for Coach, and MASH's lady and the "chicken" are tv legends. I count myself among the millions who tuned into most of the final episodes on this countdown, which were in the days before being able to record or stream. Thanks for this fine trip down Memory Lane.
She got off the plane!😭💕15:17 still gives me goosebumps.
My fave was Cheers! "Sorry, we're closed." How fitting an ending!!
Good writing
@@lexkanyima2195 Do you remember (or were you around) for the news stories surrounding Cheers' finale?
@@gregoryannicchiarico3570 i remember
@@gregoryannicchiarico3570 what were they ?
@@ericcanadiangoldboygray4111 It was just the news covering the finale. People were gathered at the Bull and Finch Pub in Boston (the bar that served as the cover shots for Cheers) to celebrate.
It’s rare for a beloved series to get a great finale (my opinion) and MASH did. Newhart’s was absolutely brilliant though and my mother couldn’t stop talking about it. GoT is my all time favorite show and I was ………. there aren’t words. Like I said, not all beloved shows get a great finale.
The years of great cliffhangers and final shows are a thing of the past. They just don’t make them Anymore ! They think. Rebooting is the way to go. But it’s the writers , producers, cast etc that make award winning. Mash and others were. One of the kind ! We all were invested in it We loved it. Whole family could
I just recently watched the mash finale after almost 40 years since it was on. I mean I knew it was just one of the greatest ever, but damn, that one is still so epic as of today
When it came to the finale of "Newhart", Bob Newhart actually had a fake script written up for the final scene in order to throw off the tabloids, so they wouldn't leak out the real ending before it even aired.
But the curtain call was happening
The Newhart finale was the most brilliant one ever!
With a good curtain call
I can’t believe The Office US finale wasn’t on this. We got to see Michael as a dad, Angela and Dwight getting married, Jim and Pam deciding to leave the company and Creed finally getting arrested
That simply means that less people saw it than those on this list, not that it wasn't good enough.
According to the first result on Google, "only" 5.69 million people watched The Office US finale. It had fallen off significantly in the last few years. For much of its run it averaged around 9 million viewers.
The Office didn't have high viewing figures. It became hugely popular after it ended.
A lot of people jumped ship from the office after Michael left. So it's not surprising that they didn't have the numbers
If you noticed, a bulk of the top 20 list are finales before 2000. When there were generally fewer programming options. And only two HBO series were in this video.
Big Bang Theory is one of my favourite endings, if not the favourite ending. So much tears, so much character development during the years. Sheldons speech *chefs kiss*
I remember the final MASH episode. I was a kid, but cried because I had watched it for so long.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show is my favorite tv finale. It was and still is one of the best finales.
My all-time favorite TV theme song🎵 ❤ 👍

Friends really did a good job wrapping up everyone's storyline.
Also can you do top 29 shows that defined the 90s
You should another one of these lists but for animated TV show finales
MASH and Newhart
Wow the Sopranos And ER didn't crack the top 10??. Crazy
The Fugitive.
Edith Bunkers death will always be the saddest moment in tv history. MASH’s ending was truly a masterpiece.
AMEN.
Going to America episode from Season finale of Father Ted was so emotional and the very last appearance of the late great Irish actor Dermot Morgan who played Father Ted Crilly.
MASH will never be passed, because it was a great show. And at the time there were only 3 networks. Not much else people had to watch.. but it was GREAT!!!!
It was too emotional to watch
Frankly I'm sick and tired of that old "only three channels" excuse. Yeah, there were only three major broadcast networks at that time but there were also cable channels, HBO Etc. It wasn't the stone age. People did have options. People CHOSE to tune into the MASH finale because it was THAT big of an event.
The one downside to the MASH finale is that it set the bar too high. Now when a show, especially a long runner, ends fans expect it to be an epic that changes the landscape of television. Even if the episode is perfectly competent and concludes the story, viewers revolt.
MASH is number one for a reason. It will never be topped
Cheers came close
Omg the clip of all in the family had me tearing up lol
I remember when Susanne Pleshett appeared on the final episode of Newhart...it was rather special to me because I was such a fan of the Bob Newhart show.
" Okay, that settles it. No more Japanese food before bed."
MASH will NEVER be numerically surpassed. Since it’s strictly about numbers, HM GOT’s at 19 million was quite impressive for a paid premium cable service. Some of these truly surprised me
Cheers came close
THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME VIDEO! 👋👋👋😀😀👍👍👍
The ending of Friends was the end of a better time
Good timing to end the show
Breaking bad had one of the best tv finals ever
Indeed
No argument there
I was expecting it to be up there, and when I didn't see it as the list got shorter and the honorable mentions was over, I was disappointed it was not even mentioned.
@@halfkimchi45 It only had around 10.3 million viewers, so despite being a great episode it doesn't fit this list. ER had 16.2 million and it was the honorable mention with the fewest viewers.
Breaking Bad was an epic finale. Wrapped everything up nicely.
All my friends would come over every week to watch every new episode , it was so basdass to watch it new , only show I ever followed live
@@JSalonsky oh see for me the Mandalorion was the first show I started watching from the beginning and have followed in real time. Well technically I got into it right before the s1 finale dropped.
I agree! I was surprised that there was no honorable mention.
Yah me too.
The best series ever! From the beginning till the end is perfection and don't underestimate "Better Call Saul". Vince Gilligan is genius.
M*A*S*H is #1! Was there ever any doubt?
I was actually surprised. It happened so long ago I thought it must have been toppled by now, but I knew it had to be on the list. One number after another went by and we still had not been back to the 4077.
The Sopranos is one I’ve never sat through, but I know the finale due to my mother cursing out the TV when the final scene happens 🤣
The ending to Mando Season 2 is just beautiful
It wasn’t the show’s finale though. There’s another season which you are probably aware is coming out.
I cried my eyes out during the MASH series finale. There was no way I was going to miss it. Otherwise, most of these shows I hardly watched at all. I may have caught an episode or two, but I never bothered to keep up with the characters or what they were doing. So I would see an episode and wonder, "Who's that?" or "Why's she doing that?" It was too hard to watch most programs regularly. The exceptions are, of course, MASH, plus All In The Family, Happy Days, and Star Trek: The Next Generation (which I loved but always thought was a dumb name). I didn't watch Seinfeld, but there was so much hype regarding the series finale I did actually see that. It reminded me of why I didn't watch the show. I hated the characters,
Awesome loving this video already
I have always thought the final episode of The Sopranos was the greatest finale ever. The build up of the tension, the ring of the bell as the door opens then nothing. Just imagining the stunned look on the faces of all the vewers, pure magic!!!!!!!
St. Elsewhere had one of the best and most creative twist endings ever
Thank you for bringing back the memories!
The finale of Six Feet Under was legend.....
"You can't take a picture of this...it's already gone..."
I was just about to give that show an honorable mention. Showing how all the main characters ended up dying was brilliant!
I watched The Golden Girls daily, surprised it was not more than 27 million
Felina: One of the few finales that not only stuck the landing, but also exceeded that.
A perfect finale to a phenomenal show.
I'm just curious how well BCS does
Well you only have 48 hours to wait
Hopes up for Better Call Saul
@@harrycallan5082 they will nail it.
Not sure they qualify, but either Johnny Carson or Dave Letterman's final show I'm sure had a lot of viewers.
It's not a show
The US Population in 1983 was 230,389,964. Do the math and it is an estimated 45.6% of the nation was watching the M.A.S.H. Finale live.
All of these shows are so nostalgia
106 million would've had to have been at least 1/3 of the population at the time maybe more. Crazy to think about
Are u a child? 106 million is most definitely not 1/3 of the population.
@@Empire_11 the population of the US back then.
@@Empire_11was obviously talking about the US population Justin. Untie your panties
@AnEagleInYourMind wow ! That's insane
I miss watching Full House on Nick at Nite! R.I.P. Bob Saget!😭❤️📺🎶👍🏻
It’s on HBO Max or Sunday afternoons on MeTV (free antenna, cable,Frndly or Philo)
I'm not surprised that most of these are old bc back then catching the episode was a MUST or you never saw it!!
Maybe after work you can watch shows you like
You don't see these numbers anymore. Between DVR recordings and streaming services it is impossible for a TV program to reach these types of milestones.
For 12 years it deminished TV
A British soap opera called Brookside was set in a residential cul-de-sac called Brookside Close. It ended with all the houses due to be knocked down and someone painting a D on the street sign to read Brookside CloseD. I never really watched the show but quite liked that ending.
Awesome! I'm very excited to see The Original Fugitive TV Series Take The Number #3 Spot And The Finale Episodes "The Judgment" Are The Best Final To End The Classic Series.
It was the number one rated finale until MASH's finale so that's most impressive. I was relieved that at least one show of that era got a resolution. I always hated shows that would set up a quest or a continuing storyline to solve only to end without ever having closure to it!! At least Richard Kimble had his happy ending, which was much deserved!

The "Fugitive" finale was truly a cliffhanger! I could not tell how it was going to end nearly until the last scene.
I really liked the Fresh Prince finalie . It was a tear jerker . R.I..P, Uncle Phill
I grew up watching M*A*S*H and I truly enjoyed the last episode/movie. Great cast and a great Show for sure.
Best “WATCHMOJO” thing I’ve seen.
I remember begging my parents to let me stay up late to watch the MASH finale. Think I was in 5th grade back then and a school night. Glad I was able to watch it.
The Family Ties finale still makes me tear up especially the curtain call!
I object to the somewhat sneering tone of the discussion on The Fugitive’s finale - especially the comment that “there were many fewer viewing options back then.” The Fugitive finale pioneered wrapping up a series with a concluding episode (most series in those days just went off the air with no special conclusion) and every other finale on this list owes it a debt of gratitude. Viewing options or not, this episode held the record for a series television audience until the Who Shot JR episode of Dallas. Plus, it’s a great and satisfying finale. Give it the respect it deserves!
I absolutely loved Full House growing and watched TGIF every single Friday night.
But the ending was maybe confused
There was a prison skit of Jerry and George in jail as a parody of the HBO series OZ.🤣🤣🤣🤣
When MASh went off air I was in my 3rd year of college. I grew up watching this show and I saw the rocks spell out “GOODBYE “ for the 1st time ever I broke out crying like lost my best friend 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Me too. But at the same time it was a catharsis after the chicken.
Frank Burns would have been proud! After all those years of being told he couldn't paint rocks white because they would be seen by enemy planes someone finally went ahead and did it!
That list will probably never change, with hundreds of channels, no show could ever garner that many eyeballs at one time!
iCarly’s finale beat the Office’s finale in views. Let that sink in.

I remember Seinfeld’s finale vividly, even though I was in my early teens. I was young, but I was obsessed with the show and still love it to death to this day. And yeah, the finale kinda sucked. It was not about how we “became” aware how “bad” the four are, but it was just such an incredibly boring episode. I haven’t rewatched the finale to this day, even though I’ve owned the series on VHS, DVD and on Blu-Ray. Now with streaming too, I rewatch my favorite episodes occasionally, but I just cannot bring myself to watch the finale.
This clip show before it stunk too. But I didn't mind the finale, I mean it's hard to come up with a good ending for a show about nothing.
I enjoy it, but it's a show about nothing it didn't live up to expectations.
It was just another episode of Seinfeld. Perfect conclusion.
Home improvement made it into the top 10 yay!!!
I’m a huge “Seinfeld” fan and yet don’t care at all for its finale. I think it was a mistake going the flashback route.
Im younger and grew up watching it because of my brother it grew on me overtime initially I thought the premise was stupid but It was kinda cool that they flipped the genuine perception of the audience even at their worst we all kinda tried to relate and understand why certain actions were taken in Seinfeld besides a selected few extreme scenarios but the finale made everyone like reflect like wow its been hilarious because they're awful people 🤣
@@XxPOISINxX it was too cliché
@Jed Flanders I mean they as a group though it was appropriate to drug a woman to literally play with her toys lol I wouldn't say they are great people their sir
Not sure what the numbers for Modern Family was, but that ending was so emotional and wrapped things up lovely a great ending for a great show.
Maybe 13 million viewers
Divisive take but I loved the series finale of Lost. I wasn't confused, they weren't "dead all along", and I felt it answered most of its questions.
I liked the Finale from Lost too besides his flaws!!A great Show.
GOT...the time 19.3 million people collectively went "What the fuck?" THAT record will never be topped.
Coming from the U.K. Scotland to be precise I knew Mash was going to be no1. Fair play epic ending for an epic show. In saying that I did love me some ER 😊
My 2 favorite finales.
1. Scrubs. ( not including the spinoff). I cried really hard
2. 8 simple rules. It absolutely broke me.
8 Simple Rules Final Episode was just like a normal Episode... You're thinking the start of Season 2 when Paul (John Ritter died)
Game of Thrones could have made the list if the entire final season wasnt botched and absolute trash. The hype was SO high for it too
Super popular!
Most of these are not surprising. Honestly shock Supranoes isn't on the list. That was a huge end everyone talked about.
I wonder if Kelsey Grammer watches Rick and Morty since his daughter is the voice of summer ? Lol
I am 40yrs old and I just finished watching Seinfeld last night.
Reminder that the Better Call Saul finale airs in two days.

That's not actually an opinion it's just a statement. In my opinion, people barely remember that show let alone cared when it ended. But, we all have our things.
@@popculturewatch8689 that show was a way to cope over the loss of Married With Children and wasn't all that bad, but unfortunately that's why it got knocked off was because it wasn't Married With Children.

Honorable Mention: *LOST* 🤔🤷♂️
SMALLVILLE ran for 10 Season's and had a spectacular two part finale when Clark Kent finally becomes Superman, and saves the Planet. Starred Tom Welling, and Erica Durance, among others.
I live in Los Angeles but I was such a LOST groupie I went to Oahu for the finale. During my time on the island I had the honor of running into Terry O’Quinn in a cafe on the North Shore. I knew I’d never have the opportunity again so I went over to talk to him. He was most gracious and thought it was great I’d flown there for the finale. He said he wanted to be working again. That happened. I miss LOST.

I was gonna say ALF, but the series finale wasn't suppose to be the finale, it was a cliffhanger season finale. The writers wrote it as such so the network would pick up the show for another season. But it had the feeling of a finale.
Minor correction: Happy Days "unaired" episodes did not debut in syndication but on ABC, the first run network for Happy Days. The reason they din not air at their originally schedule time was that during the final season of Happy Days (1984), ABC held the rights to the 1984 Olympics and preempted a couple of first run episodes Happy Days for the Olympics. Then during the Spring they decided to debut a mid-season replacement called A.K.A. Pablo (staring comedian Paul Rodriguez) that only ran for six episodes before being canceled. These two events meant that ABC was unable to air 5 episodes of the final season of Happy Days at their regular time slot. so they instead choose to show the season finale at the regular time and date but show the unaired episodes during the summer/fall of 1984. These never debuted in syndicated as you stated but because of the unusual practice of airing preempted first run episodes during the season finally ended debuting after the series finally. I'm guessing they felt it was more important to show the series finally during it's normally expected time slot & date rather then delay it to summer when fewer people typically watch TV. Diehard Happy Days fans probably either watch the unaired episodes during the summer at the time of airing or they set their VCR's to record the episodes if they weren't home then.
I saw several of these but the only one I remember seeing with my parents was NEWHART. Thing was, they hadn't been fans of the 1970s BOB NEWHART SHOW...but I had been...so they totally didn't get the twist and couldn't understand why I was absolutely screaming with laughter!
