It always makes me happy to see these videos because I grew up in the 90s and my neighbors brother literally gave us all of these cards for free. It’s cool to think I casually have these old cards just chilling at home and in my decks 😸

Can't help but think the gloves are probably causing more damage through fumbling 😂
they don't. the cards can take a bit of fumbling, what will kill them are the oils on your fingers. the oils will interact with the ink on the card.
even high value cards are usually send in a soft sleeve within two pieces of cardboard because it retains its flexibility
Cards can bend, they can't snap or take oily substances.
Opens 1 million worth of alpha starters, doesn't spring for gloves that fit. Love the video anyway Dan. Really fun to watch.

It looks like It's a little bit damaged on the upper right corner. 46:45 - 46:48. Maybe from the knife, while trying to remove plastic.

The fact he pulle dit form a pack is also a miracle because there was a way to move the rare int he pack up and see its color and casting cost, so its assumed in most alpha, beta, and unlimited (other sets and sets after did not have this issue) that all the loose packs have already been checked for a power card and was left unopen because it was not good, if you were careful you could not even tell the rare was checked.
You know someone is hard core when they are opening alpha boosters on a video with a fire detector chirping in the background cause they didn't have enough money left to get it a new battery lol

even today i get nostalgic watching this video and the card pulls as I was playing with them all during the 90s and cringe when i think about how i shuffled them now and of course their value not only to me personally but to the whole community for they got me through some tough times during my school years and made me some new friends.

i remember watching a lot of these when u uploaded them the first time, alpha openings are always hyper rare and HYPE. keep on keeping on man.
so basically out of 8 starters he got 1 lotus, 1 mox sapphire, 1 mox jet ( the most valuable moxen as far as I know), 1 tundra, 1 taiga, 1 tropical island, 1 mana vault and 1 cyclopean tomb. 3 p9 and 5 good cards out of 16 rares total. pretty good

Good stuff - however, a bit frustrating to watch in the beginning. The staple in the booklet insert is a great point to use to guide your first incision...
with the product hitting the 30 year mark, i recomend jigglng the boxes every now and then because if not, the ink will eventually get sticky and make the cards into a solid block of cardboard. some japanese nintendo playing cards have suffered this.

All of those commons in the first pack have misprinted backs (way off center) with normal fronts. Worth a ton of money to us misprint collectors.

Aaaah those are my MTG cards i remembered back in 1993-1994.
Until today I can still tell most of those cards title and its effects by only looking at their art : from Lightning Bolt, Unholy Strength, Llanowar Elves, Serra Angel, Disenchant, Circle of Protection (COP), Dark Ritual, Raise Dead, Giant Spider, Shatter, Stone Rain, Cockatrice, etc.... and that annoying Benalish Hero!

The loose fitted gloves and fire detector audio in the first 40 seconds of the video really immerse the audience in the plight of spending so much money on card board while spending so little on anything else.
