+sniperlif3 what's up with these prices everyone is throwing around? I think people are looking at alpha prices, not beta. If you look at just about any website, you could purchase that whole deck for about $3500 in NM/M condition. The highest pricing I saw was at $4000, the average was $3300. That's retail price so the value of the cards to a seller is probably $2500, maybe a few hundred more because of condition. Still amazing to pull that kind of luck, I would have been going crazy.
John Tombstone The beta prices for those last rares came up to 3624$ average for non new mint condition cards. Add in the other cards in the pack, averaging somewhere around 10-15 a card for commons (low ball) would bring that total to at least 4074$. I don't want to do the math for exact average prices, this is a ballpark of common prices in beta as well as the average prices for rares.
Remember, these are higher than average quality cards, which boosts the price much higher than average. That is why I said 6000+
+sniperlif3 Again, where in the world are you getting these prices? I looked up 15 of his commons/uncommons and 11 sold for $.99, one sold for $1.50 and three for $2.50. So that's $20 retail for 12 cards, not the lowball of $20 per card you're talking about. Half of his rares were selling at $30 or $40, so I don't know how you're thinking commons and uncommons would average $10 to $20 on the low end, that's nuts. Again, everything I just said is retail price. And for commons or uncommons you'd be lucky to get 50% of retail, so he would probably get $6-$7 for those 12 cards I picked. And $3600 for the rares is high end of retail. That's not what the seller gets for them. The front of his stack isn't adding more than $100 to his pocket, not the $1500 that got picked out of the sky. And he's not getting retail for the back end either. $6000 is still double or very close to double what they're actually worth to him, even if he gets them all graded.
Nice to see that there's documentation. I've been assured by several experts that God Decks were an "urban legend," and Beta decks with 15 rares never actually existed. That was rather startling news to me, as the majority of Beta decks we got at our store in Buffalo were, in fact, god decks, and I personally handled and opened many of them.

The fact that the uncommons were all rares isn't even the most amazing part of this video. The most amazing is part is how you got through it all without cursing in amazement, crapping your pants, or both. :D

In revised they had starters with no basics and dual lands in their place. I opened one at a sealed event at the WotC HQ way back in the day. Had to get a judge to view it because it was nuts.

I was just a wee lad when these cards were standard and new, but seeing these videos I can just feel the vibes of your childhood and I love it! I was watching a few first edition Pokemon pack openings and It took me back man. Those cards are not worth NEARLY as much as these, but oh the memories.
I have no idea about MTG and no clue on what is what or even how to play the game, but I watch all these videos and just find it so fascinating!!

I don't even play Magic, but watching this guy get so excited is refreshing. Happiness is contagious, even if its over the internet.
The rumor I heard was that the sorter at Cartamundi had a malfunction and there were whole Alpha starters that were just Rares. If someone found one of these starters the whole box would be the same way. The story also mentioned that later Alpha starters had Beta rares instead of Alphas because of this.

So, those duals raked in a couple grand on their own, and then on top of that you have a Lord of Atlantis at about $200 and a Mana Vault at about $450, and then all the other rares bounce between $20 and $50 apiece.

When MTG first came out, a friend bought a single Beta starter, and it was a god pack. The only cards I specifically remember were Force of Nature and Mox Pearl.
Tons of rares , and two dual lands. Damn , Also the train starts to derail at around 9:57. Best pull was Tim the sorcerer lol

it's always nice to pull 15 rares out of a starter, and 2 duals is nice (mana vault too), but that could have went a LOT better. 15 rares with no power? gotta sting a bit.
unfortunately I was only witness to it, but in 1994 I saw a guy crack a box of revised with 1 common, 1 uncommon, and THIRTEEN RARES in each pack. dude had so many duals it was unreal. I was in this little store and a box was being packed out to a few of us that was producing 2 rares per pack, and the shop owner had another box from the same case on the shelf so someone bought it whole and sat down to crack it. everyone left speechless and jealous that day.

It is amazing that cards I used to open by the case are now opened wearing gloves and an exacto knife. The dual lands, hydra, mine, and maybe the hordes would have been the only cards I would have been excited about back then, and now I see they are worth like $4-6k. Unreal! Congrats on that!

Greetings from two years in the future! I learned something a while back that a lot of people don't realize, so I try to share whenever possible. It's "jipped" should be spelled "gypped", because it's a derogatory comment about "Gypsies" (more appropriately known as Roma). They are often saddled with the negative stereotype of being swindlers. So be aware in the future that that term is actually an ethnic insult :)
when you're doing this many cards, more than a single pack I mean, you should set aside the good ones as you go so we can be reminded of the greatness

MTG Mitch Because this was an unexpected thing that happened, and openboosters clearly enjoys savoring the act of opening packs. When he realized the second part of the starter was all rares, he wanted to see if he could predict which card would come next based on what the print sheet looked like.
He had to do all of this in one continuous shot, because otherwise people would say his videos are fake or he planted valuable cards in the packs.

I realize this but what value does predicting have? I would have rather just seen them all revealed and go from there. Even if he did accurately predict, it would take all anticipation away IMO. keep doing you though man, just giving a viewer perspective.

are you looking at the beta prices? The scrubland was just buylisting (which nobody in their right mind would buylist these cards) at 900$ at the beginning of December (it did drop to 475$ Dec 17th for whatever reason) and the badlands was in the same ballpark so the numbers you have posted (at least on the 2 cards is way off) I'll have to look at the other ones though. I know this video was made a little while ago so maybe you were stating prices from when they were opened idk

When you know the composition of decks you can do that. If "x" is supposed to be where "y" is, it's safe to assume "x" will be constant.

Really depends on which "most". 4 of them are worth thousands together, the other 40+ are worth about $1000 total, altogether. Also, keep in mind that these are Beta, so if you have reprints from Unlimited or later, they will be worth much less. On the other hand, if you have Alpha printings they could be worth much more.
