That “Isaac Kidd” was a Rear Admiral aboard USS Arizona. He received the Medal of Honor for staying on the bridge and fulfilling his duties, even while under fire. Unfortunately, his medal was awarded posthumously, as around the same time as a bomb hit Arizona’s forward magazine, a different bomb hit the bridge, killing him. He was the first U.S. flag officer to be killed in the Pacific Theatre of the Second World War. All USN ships named Kidd reserve the right to fly a pirate flag, not because they are named after Captain Kidd, but simply as a humorous homage to him.

Wichita is one of my favorites as well. Less tanky than Balti for sure, but as you said more maneuverable. I also prefer the New Orleans shell velocity even tho Balti gets better pen. All of the US heavy cruisers are pretty solid.
@@stefanocrosazzo3262 Wichita is actually more tanky if you consider her smaller citadel, narrower width and just general smaller dimensions. She's just harder to hit overall.
USS Congress may be a paper ship in WOWS, but the name is real. The best known was one of the original 6 Frigates of the US Navy, but 6 US Navy ships have been named USS Congress including the frigate sunk by the Ironclad CSS Virginia in the Battle of Hampton Roads, which led to the first ironclad battle the next day. There is a new one on order, a Constellation-class Frigate (and Constellation is also a name that goes back to the Original 6)
Kidd was named after an Admiral that was killed. They asked his wife if they could paint the pirate Kidd on the smoke stack. She said yes, as the Admiral was a bit of a historian and liked the pirate, and she thought he would have agreed. Only naval ship I think that was allowed to fly the pirate flag during the war. (Others might have but weren't given permission).
Yeah, this ship is really good and not everybody knows it. 2 days ago a had a battle with tier 10, result - near 150k dmg, from which 55k on Stalingrad and that gave me over 3100 xp. That was mind-blowing game
Kinda interesing that the Witchia in wows Legends on console gets 2 heals on top of the hydro and radar. You can 3 heals, hydro and radar with the right perk.

He was a privateer with a letter of marque from England whom he later betrayed. If we, the United States, were to name a ship after a pirate, it would either be Jean Lafayette or John Paul Jones.

why would they name a ship after a murder man the folk heroes of yesteryear is full of people who by today standards would be terrible people what's acceptable back then an now are night and day doesn't make the achievements less notable
This is my very personal opinion but i do not like new art i mean ... this screen that i see in youtube's list of new videos. Older one was more in WOWS climate. but if most like it - ok - whatever ... when who cares what i think.
I was contemplating playing this ship a day ago, but just scrolled past it as lately getting up tier 90% of the time just felt like i wont be doing well.

Tbh Wichita and Balti have exactly the same armour scheme, Balti gets 1k extra hp iirc
I kinda didn't like Pensacola for the slow ass gun turrets. They really negate the ship's ability to be maneuverable while kiting

I absolutely love this ship! She’s not quite as good as the Balti but she’s still a blast to play!
