Soak liver In a little milk before cooking it takes away that really strong flavour
What strong flavor?!? Liver has it’s own taste, that’s it, I only know this trick for Rabbit meat tbh
Liver is one of my all-time favourites. When I was living on a budget in bedsit-land, I'd often make a delicious liver casserole, served with cauliflower and mashed potato. Nutritious, filling and very tasty, it was a much cheaper alternative to beef, pork or chicken.... and didn't take anywhere near as long to cook! What's not to love? :)
Ooooooh I love liver and I should eat more as I have low haemoglobin levels. Always afraid I will mess it up during cooking so this has been very encouraging and helpful, thank you Sharon. (Liver, mash, savoy cabbage and onion gravy, heaven).

@@butlersempire Liver is an acquired taste, its only cheap because not many people eat it, but you can bet as soon as people start to buy it and sales increase, it will shoot up in price, like most other things have. I cant eat it, makes me wrench, texture and smell.

I love lambs liver & chicken livers but I've never had pigs or cows liver. I need to get some & try it.....at least I can say whether I like it or not then because at least I'll have had it. I never understand people that say they don't like something, but they've never even tried it😂😂

@@Angel-002 yes sage and onion bread stuffing, brown the liver first, put some stuffing on top and wrap it in smoked streaky bacon. Pour some stock over it in a casserole dish, Some of the bread stuffing will come out and thicken the stock.
@@smiley9872 Mmmmn sounds delish. I make my own stuffing anyway so I can adjust it as I"m not having carbs & have gluten free bread. It"LL be the first time making it with that so 🤞 I'll eat it anyway 😂😂 Gosh I wish I didn't love food😂😂 It's so hard when you're cutting stuff out to help with ailments & pain but once in a blue moon is ok 5 then I'll be good again 😈 Thanks for replying

I always soaked my liver in milk for a while before cooking. It takes off any bitterness, then I floured, seasoned and fried. I also like ox liver. Had larger slices. Might be too strong for some people. Your burgers looked really tasty. Yum.
I absolutely love liver but it's got to be ox liver from my local butcher, delish fried in butter 😋😋
There used to be a TV doctor quite few years ago Rob Buckman had a blood condition and part of his treatment was to eat raw liver
Just a thought you might want to try sometime. Ox heart. Clean it, cut out anything you cannot eat (tubes etc) Stuff it, your choice and cook like beef. It is reall lean and like beef. Goes a long, long way to. Yummy (old school)

@@butlersempire I had a rotty & a mastiff and used to buy ox heart for them to eat also I'd cut in halves or quarters and freeze and they would have a piece each like ice lollies on hot summer days out in the yard and not be able to just bolt it down :D

Hi Sharon and Martin, love love love your channel, and I’m sorry you’ve had to put up with some criticism and nasty negativity later, we’ll let me tell you take no bloody notice, your a fabulous couple i never comment but when I seen how distress you were getting it truly saddens me, you Sharon are a great proper home made cook and have some really good tips, keep doing what your doing and keep rolling your eyes at Martin it makes me laugh. I love liver and onions think liver makes the best gravy,and I’m going to be trying the pork burgers. Also love it when you go to your daughters in Lossiemouth, me and my husband have been there and it’s stunning some gorgeous places around but it’s a long way up there. So please keep doing what your doing don’t let the buggers get you down your doing a great job x

Love beef or calves liver and onions. I use ketchup not gravy on mine. Goes great with a baked potato. I don't cook it at home because no one else likes the smell and finding it when out is not easy. But when. It's on a menu I always order it. Yummy.

My mum was often frying up liver when I came home from school in the 80's - I can still smell it now. 🤣. Couldn't stand it but it kept us fed when times were hard. 👍
Liver is delicious…I cook mine in the slow cooker..I seal off the liver in a frying pan..then transfer to slow cooker with onions mushrooms and peas and use a BBQ cook in sauce it’s Devine…try it you’ll love it! Serve with mash YUMMY 😊

Calves liver is my favourite, delicious fried in butter, its not as strong as pigs liver. Will have a go at making the pork burgers they looked really tasty
We tried mixing beef and pork mince so it wasn't so dry, we added an egg, salt, pepper, thyme, oregano and grated cheese and baked them in the oven. Very nice.

If the liver is a bit strong then soak it overnight in milk in the fridge
My old mum used to make me liver and bacon, with mash and gravy, then my X mother in law made it for me back in the 90s , but since then I haven’t found another who can actually cook it so it edible

I cut liver in to thin strips and then air dry it in my Ninja at 60 for a few hours. Perfect as a homemade dog treat.

Liver and Kidney are both something I don't mind the taste of, the texture however is another thing all together. Think some of it at least is we used to have school dinners. Ours weren't cooked on site so any time we had liver it wasn't very nice.

Burgers looked good, but aside from agreeing that pork needs a helping hand with seasoning, burgers generally don’t need anything, and only need to be lightly pressed together for a softer texture. A good mince will still hold together. Still, one of those boys inside a muffin with egg and cheese, yes please!

I’ve tried all liver and I got some beef liver and it was soft and I can tell you it was my favourite by far . I was really surprised! Wish I lived near you , I’d got to the ragged apron 😊 just for one of those eggs ❤
I have made the burgers and put a spoonful of mayonnaise init and it lighten the burgers up I have tried it with meatballs as well makes them lighter they look nice enjoy 🐝🥺🐝

Kidney makes good gravy too😋 A friend of mine said they hated liver & would never eat again. I asked when they'd last had it & they said 40 odd years ago when they were a kid & it was disgusting. The next I saw them I cooked some liver & asked them to just try a little bit. They tried a very small piece & said that's not liver! They hated to admit that they liked it & now have it every 2-3 weeks. I think it depends on how it's cooked & our mothers used to cook it & cook it some more & then add a bit extra time on to make sure it was cooked😂😂 Our tastebuds change over the years too & things we didn't like years ago we can like again. I found that out with so many things over the years.....liver being one of them for me too.
Blame schools - they even made nice food taste horrible because they cooked it wrong - choosing healthiness over tastiness! I’m also not a fan of liver - never used to be keen on parsnips, until I tried them roasted - my eldest sister was the same - now, we have them for every Sunday lunch when I am there! Everything was boiled - even the meat - nobody had ever heard of roasting anything other than potatoes!
I am convinced more people would like liver if it wasn’t overcooked,it gets a grainy texture when it’s cooked too much,and becomes stronger in taste.In the US it’s hard to find any liver other than beef,or chicken.i have never seen lambs,I can buy pork,but only in the Chinese supermarket,and goat liver is available in the Indian market.Chopped chicken livers are good ground up with an hard boiled egg or two,and some fried onions,and enough mayonnaise to pull it together.😊
I love lambs liver and homemade burgers, I use half beef and half pork mince for the burgers with salt/pepper and an oxo cube crumbled in with homemade burger buns (John Kirkwood recipe) and your version of McDonalds ranch dressing 😋😋😋 x
My mum used to Cooke ox liver in onions and tinned tomatoes slowly in the oven, we loved it but now for some reason I can't eat it I can't take the smell.😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love liver and onions along with mushrooms I prefer beef liver as it's called in Ireland UK called it ox liver it's a sweeter tasting liver.

liver can be bitter, if you soak it in milk it takes away the bitterness
