What will it take for us to be better human beings to one another?! - Hudba
I'm almost 80 year-old and and a Sam Cooke fan since I was a teen. This is one of his best creations. This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Thank you for this selection and your thoughtful words. I lone your analysis.
Man I’m 16 I discovered Sam Cooke when I was 13 id kill to of been able to see Sam Cooke live I wish you good health sir
50 years old. This song always brings tears.
42 here, and I was raised on Sam Cooke.
I don't see how anyone doesn't love him
I'm about 10 years behind you and like you, it makes my eyes sweat every time I hear it.
And the sad part is that after all these years, we're still not there yet...
I was a kid when I heard this for the first time. I didn't understand why this song had my parents tearing up. My father was born during the Jim Crow era in Mississippi, in 1944. My mother (born and raised in Ohio) would visit her side of the family in Louisiana in the 1950s often. They both saw and dealt with....a lot.
They're both gone now and I'm a 41-year-old woman having to explain this to my children when they see me tear up listening to this.
This cycle desperately needs to end.
Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" is spine chilling and spot on hopeful commentary!
It's so good to see another generation fall in love with Sam Cooke. He was a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's first class of inductees -- founding fathers of R&R. Sam was in good company, along with Elvis, Little Richard, James Brown, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmie Rogers, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, and Buddy Holly.
He sings those first words and I get goosebumps and tear up at the same time, every time.
Sam Cooke was Muhammad Ali's favorite singer. Sam wrote "A Change Is Gonna Come" in response to hearing Bob Dylan's "Blowing In The Wind", and he said I could write one of these.
So highly underrated isn’t he? If I mention him to an older person, most of them have at least heard of him, but as far as everyone else goes, they just have no idea. They’ve probably heard him a million times in the movies and just don’t know. A lot of people have the fear of missing out, I have a genuine fear that so many people are gonna miss out on great songs like this strictly because they don’t wanna give it a chance. Everyone knows everything these days...
@@jarrettfinney4882 Agreed. I think you should also check out "Little Willie John". He was the R&B star just before Sam Cook (wich strangely he has a very very similer sounding voice, only just a bit of a higher range). He was huge by the late 50s but very few have heard of him today. You should check out his song "My Love Is", at czcams.com/video/H0aEDC5XLBE/video.html
He also did Fever, I'm Shakin, All Around The World and his version of Flamingo takes the absolute cake. I just love the area were R&B turned into Soul music. A forgotten generation I think.
@@louisgreen3915 hell yeah, I definitely will. I know I’ve heard his name before. I may have even heard him and just don’t know it. I’ll definitely go check him out tho. Thank you for the suggestion!
@@jarrettfinney4882 sam cooke was huge in the 60s..I mean huge. Some don't know him because they weren't raised in the south. Sam cooke had 50 top 80 hits in his career one number 1 a couple number 2s at one point had 5 songs in the top 100. and was the second best seller on rca Records behind elvis. It's this generation that don't like to dive into past history for whatever reason but Sam was the 2nd biggest artist not even Willie John outsold Sam cooke. He just died long ago. But he has own street in Chicago called Sam cooke way. Hollywood walk of fame start. Recently he was portrayed in one night in miami.. he has 2 songs in the hall of fame I can keep going lol trust me he was huge in the 60s. It's the way he died that hurt his career that's why they killed him the way they did..that plus Allen Klein shady business tactics nobody is able to sample his music etc. That hurt his career
@@jarrettfinney4882 A lot of people have never heard of Lady Day or Robert Johnson either. Now that is sad.
This song is so simple but the words stir something deep inside you.
I’ve heard this song so many times, and I’m a 28 year old white dude, I’m certainly not coming from the same place he was coming from, but at this point in my life, it hits perfect. It perfectly expresses how I feel inside, so desperate for a change, trying to hold on just a little bit longer for something good that’s hopefully right around the corner. It’s just amazing how a song written about a totally different situation, from a completely different person, was not only created for that....it was also created for me, and dozens of other people in different situations. Somehow one song connected all of us. To me songs like this just keep affirming to me that some things are just 10000% meant to be. This song was meant to be written and meant to be recorded exactly how it was, by Sam Cooke specifically, and it was meant to be there for us when we needed it. In the past couple of years, I’ve struggled with my belief in what’s beyond all of this, and lately, more and more songs come around that I’ve probably heard endless times, and they hit me in such a way that I think “there’s no possible way everything is just random and meaningless.” There just can’t be. Everything is far too perfect. Music does that for me. If there were no music, I’m confident I couldn’t live in this world. It may be all I’ll ever have, but it may be all I’ll ever need.
That's real. This shows that hate is taught. It obviously wasn't taught In your home and thats wonderful. Sam cooke will always be the greatest singer ever. Handsome brother that was way ahead of his time, he also was the first black artist to own his own label. Check out "nearer to thee" that's another song that shows how talented he was.
God bless you
I love me some Sam Cooke. I remember these songs mainly because my older cousins would listen to his music. I was born in the 60's in Texas. I know what racism is about. I have seen it and I have lived it. This is not going to be a popular statement. But it was a lot worse then than it is now. There are good and bad people in every race. There are good and bad police. We have made progress every decade, every year. I remember the conflicts of the 60's and the early 70's. We have started up again and race relations have gotten worse since President Obama came into office. I remember back in school when a Black female friend of mine came to school dressed in KKK outfit and she had no problems. It was for Halloween she rocked it. No one cared. If I remember correctly she won the contest that year for best costume. I remember also being accused when I was like 4 of stealing a shirt by a white woman. You move on and past those things. Those are ignorant people. I don't hate them, but I don't like them either. I don't have time to hate those people. I have no time for them. People talk about slavery in this country. There was slavery for about 80 years. 80 years too long, but still the first man to own a slave was a black man. He owned both white and black slaves and he went to court to get it approved. Before that there were indentured servants. That means they could buy their way out of servitude. When Washington and Jefferson died they freed their slaves. Adams never had any and fought to free them under the Constitution. We had many abolitionist that want to get rid of slavery before the Civil War. The Irish were treated so bad in America that they died by the thousands every year. Not every slaves had a death rate as high as the Irish. There are a lot of thing that aren't talked about in our history that should be, but it wasn't as one sided as a lot of people make it out to be. If were as bad as they make it out to be there would be no people of color in Congress. I also believe that music it a powerful medium. I believe it can bring us together again.
😇😇😇
You are right, this isn't all there is. There is an eternal life after all if this. And, you get there through the discovery and love of Jesus Christ. He loves you, and he loves good music
Heck. He is the whole reason, music like this was created. May peace be the journey for you, and may you find that peace, through the love of his words. Prayer is the true conduit to a relationship with God. I hope all is well. Love thy neighbor, help a stranger Pray for your enemy, and "Change gon' come".
Good for you brother to have this understanding at 28, your parents raised you well
Love this haunting and heartfelt song by Mr. Cooke. He died so young and had so much promise. Thanks for sharing.
My Dad was a huge Sam Cooke fan and I grew up hearing this amazing singer.
This song never fails to make me cry.
This song... ahhh this song! And this voice... just makes you want to sit back and listen over and over again. So powerful
Happiness increases when shared, sadness and grief decrease when shared. 😊
I love your comments at the end of the song. So deep. So beautiful. So true. You have an incredibly special and precious soul ❤
Let's just thank God that we are giving people like this to talk to us through music
there are "musicians" who only see money and that's their way, only entertainment. But the right musicians combine earning money and their poluarity also to reveal grievances in our society Sam Cook was one of them. I thank them, even if you can see that a lot of bad things don't change for the better.@Rogue. From your reaction I notice that the subject of what Cooke sings about touches you emotionally, nice to see and sad to see that it has not been resolved to this day.
Sam Cooke to me had the best voice , he could get just close to a rasp and then be smooth as butter in an instant. Unique. Love his music. EDIT. Stop watching the news. The news wont let us unite. In fact it wants us apart, far far apart.
I've stopped watching the news for quite some time. Still it creeps in through social media. Hard to escape 😣
Exactly right. Without media andits negative propaganda, people would get on so much better.
Those images are the reminder we all need that change has been happening steadily. It just takes decades to change an entire society.
I’m a 30yr old white man from Alabama and Sam Cooke and Otis Redding were my favorite musicians. I remember being in 2nd grade listening to Otis Reddings greatest hits and asking my mother why he hasn’t made anything after his greatest hits album and she told me about his life and death. Needless to say I bawled my eyes out. It’s 2022 and I still listen to Sam Otis and the temptations at least twice a week
Just magic. Another of my favourite songs getting the genuine reaction it deserves... Thanks ❤️👏
A beautiful voice and a beautiful song from someone who clearly had a difficult life. There are so many singers with tragic lives and early deaths who have left behind there music to be appreciated for ever. What a wonderful legacy and comfort it must be for their families. One of the most recent in the UK has to be that of Amy Winehouse, a smoky, soulful voice cut way to short but what songs she left us, well worth a listen !
Words cant express how grateful i am that this is the era of music i grew up with. its never been better and i cannot be convinced otherwise
There was no one like Sam. The soul in his voice is just so it…. He just had it.
I love ya girl. I can see how much soul you have
A very powerful song, sung by one of the greatest voices of all time - the one and only Mr. Sam Cooke.
Sam Cooke was a big favorite of mine as a teenager. He still is. I was 16 when was killed. I never stopped listening to his music. This song always makes me so emotional. It is sad but so full of hope. Still it has been a long time coming.
Love the song but it's still a long time coming and I'm afraid not much has changed over the years
You are a beautiful soul and I see beautiful souls everywhere! Your quiet calm reaches through all the noise, so keep on loving and sharing your wonderful gift with all those who appreciate your humanity..and know that it does make a difference and that your voice is being heard all around the world..right down to the two little islands called New Zealand, at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean..much love and many thanks to you xx stay hopeful xx
Kia kaha neighbour. Totally echo you from the "big island"
They should play this at all protests, it would be calming but also reflective.
Know what I mean.
All the best.
Cheers.
I'm a 75 yr old and his concert was my first big concert. I was a super white, blonde, blue eyed teenager from the south and myself and my friend were the only caucasians there. I got his autograph after the show. James Brown was my next big show. I love all genres and have seen Pavarotti, rockers, blues, jazz, country, blue grass, show tunes, gospel and whatever I left out. Grateful I got to see it live.
I still get goosebumps every time I hear this wonderful song
I am a rocker 62 years old. Gotta say this song is one of my all time favs and so is Sam Cooke. What an amazing talent he was.
Yes Sister I'm an Australian Aboriginal and I'm right there with you. I've got to say I'm 72 and I've been very lucky while a lot of my people, not so lucky. At the same time it didn't matter to me what your background was, if you needed help I would not hesitate to help because to me we are all the same. And that attitude got me into a lot of trouble with my own people. Anyway take care Sis. And I really wish things where different and there are people from all walks of life that are really good people.
I LOVE this song. And absolutely no one does it better than Sam Cooke.
His voice is like water. Thank you for your existence, my friend.
Sam was the man and wrote this song because he felt it was needed.
Thank you young lady. For those of us born in the early 60's and earlier, this song is SO powerful. Memories of all kinds....thanks again ❤
Sam Cooke was murdered in 1964. He wrote and sang this great song. He’s the original soul singer. Out of the slavery great pain and suffering came this song Came this way of singing He was a great artist and leader. Fighting for change. There has not nor will there ever be another. Thank you for sharing this with young black people. They need to know their history So much has been lost stolen and forgotten
I LOVE watching a new generation discovering the music of my youth...this is the true Legacy of my generation!
Sam Cooke at his best .what a shame we never learn.we are all brothers black white brown yellow etc. Let's get with the program people and come together.73 year old lived through do much this song exemplifies my 73 years and that's sad 😢
I have love his music for years. I am in my 70's now and to loose him so early in his life was so sad. Miss all that he could have done with his time.
He was the Son of a Minister who had a Storefront Church in Chicago, Ill, and he started out in a Gospel Group called The Soul Stirrers, then he went Secular. He was also the King of Romance back in the day with "You Send Me". He was a major influence on Smokey Robinson whose song "Bring On Home To Me" would later inspire "You've Really Got A Hold On Me". This was featured in Malcolm X, and in The UK A Soap Actress named Shona McGarty did her version and bought the House down. She plays Whitney Dean on Eastenders. His Songs have been featured in Movies like Animal House, and Breathless. Sadly enough he was assassinated by a Lady who thought he was a prowler. One of his other songs "Shake" was later covered by his Buddy Otis Redding and now his Catalogue is owned by The Late Michael Jackson.
Greatest song of all time by the greatest singer of all time. The last picture they showed on the video--earth as seen from the moon--was a shot that could not have been taken while he was still alive. That's how old this is.
What an incredible voice, so many covers of this song and this is still the best version and likely will stay that way👌🏼👌🏼
Great reaction from a beautiful sista. I love the pictures with this video. Crazy how our black struggle in America is shared around the world. This song by itself makes the late great Sam Cooke immortal
I felt those emotional vibes coming from you Ms RogueRxyce influenced by this Sam Cooke Classic musical Black-Ni-Fi-Cent Black-Ster-Piece! I too felt that immense pain, despair & PURE HOPE in his vocals coupled with his smoothly-translated & gruff lyrical interpretations ! I Luvvv this song and is on my permanent "personal playlists" - along with this REACTION vid of yours! Thank you so much for this excellent presentation....THANK YOU!!!!
So today, I've seen several of your videoes and I can't enough! I truly appreciate your raw emotions on display and it's so appreciated because most of us only see and hear the cold news delivered in an unempathetic manner versus the raw, and cold, truth of today. You make it better, so thank you for your awesome channel!!!
one of my favorites, great song, great message. this will be one of mine at my funeral.. for i too was born in dire straits, and amd still standing.. sad, he die too soon.. .. its about life, sad times and the hope of overcomng the trouble times. relevant back then, and still today... thanks my beauty for posting. love you..
I am pleasantly amazed by how accurately you analyzed the emotional reactions that I sensed from hearing this classic timely ballad for the civil rights era. Very moving piece. Thank you Ms Rogue.
Im 58 now an this guys voice still gives me goosebumps an makes me cry..I miss my parents an this was our music growing up..rip Sam ur still awesome.xxxxx
One of the greatest, if not greatest singers ever. You Send Me is my favorite song from Mr. Cooke. Sam would be shocked that in only 40 years we'd have a black president. It's a shame he didn't live to see it.
Beautiful and heartbreaking, and it IS tr5agic that this song is still needed - all these years later. Thank you, Sam Cooke -- as talented a vocalist (not to mention a great songwriter and producer) as America has ever produced.
Have loved Sam Cooke for decades, his voice is one of a kind & his message still tells us to do something positive, show empathy, stop bullying, don’t see colour see people & stop creating racist environments, spread goodwill everyday. I was 14 when my favorite singer Sam Cooke was murdered & down south nothing was done to bring any kind of justice for Sam. This was his last song & final message to the world he left us with hope & people have to do better Now Wake Up 😢💜☮️ sending love from Canada 🇨🇦
I'm 68 and I can recall this song from my teens....seen it all change...with still more to go!!🙏
Hello Royce,
The illegitimate daughter of Sam Cooke lives in my hometown of Syracuse NY. She some 10 years ago became executor of her Father Sam’s estate. She told me this 3 years ago or so. She said that her father held her at birth and then left her and her mother.
❤🙏
Well just thought you might appreciate this trivia about this singer that many probably didn’t know!!❤

Amazing how lyrics of a song can hit you so hard inside, Sam Cooke had such an amazing soulful voice and this song is so hard hitting and beautiful at the same time, i also loved many other of this great performers songs including 'Chain Gang' amazing music of yesteryear which will live on forever he was a legend and so beautiful how this song touched you RogueRxyce (love)
I'm a 50 year old yt dude. Who can listen to this and not be moved to tears? Been listening to Mr. Cooke most of my life.
Old geezer here... You know I love you mija... Many of us are waiting for the change and together we will achieve our equality... I Love You, don't cry... You make me cry ...
The reality is we are still waiting for change but its up to us to make the changes in whatever aspects of our lives powerful song by Sam Cooke and still relevant today.
One of favorite favorite songs , makes me cry 😢 his voice is unique
The late Great Sam Cooke, 'The Man Who Invented Soul'
That first high note just grabs you..then doesn’t let go….ever!
42 years old here. Just discovered Sam Cooke a few years ago. Soooo good
When music like this hits the heart you know it's a super quality tune thank you Mr Sam Cooke for your remarkable talent
I am 75 and his concert was the 1st bigtime event I attended. I was blonde, blue eyed and very white. My friend and I were the only whites in the crowd. I got his autograph. I've always loved music from all genres.
Always have been a Sam Cooke fan. Always will. Where did the 60s and 70's music go? I sure miss it.
I've been listening to this song since it's original release. It still gives me shivers. Mr Cooke was on of the most prolific singer song writers in music, he paved the way for musicians and music. when "THEY"said the meek shall inherit the earth. It was ment to be literal..
The version " CHANGE IS GONNA COME" OTIS REDDING ; OTIS BLUE ALBUM.
equally as fantastic, maybe more powerful with the heart wrenching soul of Otis voice.
To put Sam's song into perspective to day , you should do a reaction to.
I CAN'T BREATHE ; H.E.R.
One of the most powerful songs written today.
Powerful lyrics may be an under estimate.
This is one of my favorites. Great reaction. He has so much emotion and yes so sad this its still so relevant.
I hope my Lord le me live long enough to really see the change , I know I have.
Sam, a great R&B powerful singer back in the day, the soul poured out of him. So many hit songs and so sad a talent like Sam was killed at age 33 "1964".. World is a sadder place when artists like this are taken before their time. !
I loved Sam Cooke. We had a black radio station in Pittsburgh, so got to listen to alot of blues and Sam was one of the best.
I'm a child of the 60's, when we hoped things were going to change, we fought for things to change, and some things did... now it looks like something is trying hard to push it backwards... I can only hope people figure out, what's goin on, before it's too late.
Im 30 years old as of this year, i’ve been hearing this since a child. This shit still makes me cry! 😩❤️
They want us divided but we are all one. This song is a reminder that we all need each other to overcome the bad things that a small number of people in power want.
I’ve been a Sam Cooke fan since I worked in a neighborhood grocery store. All they played was the golden oldies like this!
The amazing Sam Cooke. One of the greatest voices of all time. One of the nicest & and classiest men ever.
Love your insight and compassion, young lady. We CAN do better! Really nice reaction to this Sam Cooke classic.
All we can do is when people like this pass away is look to the sky and thank God for giving us such talent and such joy and such memories
Some artists force you to listen with your soul. Beautiful reaction to this classic.
Though I was extremely young when cousin Sam was taken. I fall apart even while texting about Sam. I thank God for the love from David, LC, and Agnes.. Sam was a beautiful talent and a wonderful soul. I enjoyed singing lead and even traveling with Sam's old Gospel Group the Soul Stirrers..I had so much more I desired to share but I get emotionally distraught even while texting about Sam Cooke. May God continually hold and Love ❤️ you.. Is my prayer.. Thank You so much my Gorgeous Sister. And you're Loved also......
Larry Hilton Cooke 😊
Such a great song writer, with such a beautiful voice. He died way too young. I was laid up in bed during the entire summer of '62, when I was six years old. I had nothing to do but listen to the radio, because I had patches over both eyes. Sam Cooke was such a big part of getting me through thiis, and music has been such a big part of my life ever since.
What a fine voice and powerful song! The change must come within each of our hearts, intentionally, every day. I love what you are doing and the passion with which you do it, Rogue Rxyce!
Maybe if you have an IQ below 80.
Oh Sam Cooke, his voice is so straight to to your soul
The change will not be handed to us. The change will happen once we start to look out for one another. When we stop listening to the few that desperately want us to hate one another. When we are together, we are the unstoppable force for change.
Change will never come if we fear change. Change helps us grow and advance. Those who block change; governments, the church, bigots, racial purity, those are the actors who block society and prevent change, growth and progress.
Another Great Anthem. Peace & Love is all we want, all of us. The Change starts with us.
This song and we are the world are two songs that literally bring me to tears 😢thank you for this powerful reaction Sista
One of my favorite deep felt reaction I've seen in my lifetime been a fan of this channel for a year now many props to U!! Let me add FREEDOM for HAPPINESS has NO COLOR NOR RACE or RELIGION as we all have the same within we call a HEART where TRUE LOVE don't discriminate true words from a new friend for all ALBERTO from MEXICO! PS--- SAM COOKE a true artist that breaks boundaries with the spirit of his voice R.I.P.
We talked about Sam Cooke in my school before when I was little me not knowing he is from Mississippi the same state and city that I'm from I always find his Songs very wholesome and soulful.
This is one of the best and important songs ever made. I will always love Sam Cooke.
I think you are spot on, never give up hope and never give in!
Wonderful song and I loved your reaction. Thank you.
I was born in 82, brought up in a very comfortable Britain.
But when I saw Dr Martin Luther kings capital hill speech as a grown adult.
Phenomenal.
Excellent Naration by Rogue Rxyce. This shows she has a kind heart and a beautiful spirit.
I don’t no therapy, I just listen to the music of Sam Cooke. His music soothes my soul.
Watching and listening to your honest, emotional reaction to this iconic song and one of the great artists is very moving.
Righteous!!! Much love.
What beautiful images, how much heart, how much delicacy, how much beauty and sensitivity in 6 minutes, accompanied by the voice of sam cooke and the images of so much injustice (I mean you)...... (I hope you do not realize that I love and I've only known her for a month, and she's already trapped me)..... nice reaction..... (I like everything about her, I hope she's a robot, because there can't be anything so beautiful inside and out than her, but she doesn't find out, lest he get angry)...... yes yes nice video....... (I will hide so that he does not discover me, which I love)...... very good reaction thank you...... (well I would send him a very very big kiss like his heart, but I have to hide).... Eres maravillosa ......(since he doesn't understand Spanish, he won't find out)
Creo que he quedado bien, por lo menos he sido sincero
I will keep this video forever, thank you, Rougue? that is your name? (esto lo digo para que crea que soy agradable o no)
It's still relevant, and even more so now! I love my neighbour (from across the pond), community builds peace, and love. Stay strong, brothers, sisters, and all in between....we will get through this.
Ray Charles and Willie Nelson Seven Spanish Amgels. Beautiful song and one of my all time favorites.
Sam Cook was a messenger and as a Latino , I support my brothers. Never stop fighting .
This song makes me cry as well.
