  • Here's how the Samsung Upgrade Program works in the UK, and what kind of an experience you can expect - and how you might be able to prevent issues in the first place. I used the Upgrade Program to purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 3 when it was announced in 2021, and later in 2022 to upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Here's how it went...

    I planned to use the Samsung Flex for a new fold 5 to switch from Apple. Would you recommend spending a bit extra for the Samsung care packages for 2-year cover? Would getting that help with this issue when returning the device, do you think, or is this a separate issue?

    • @Techusiast
      @Techusiast  Před 9 měsíci

      Awesome! I think Samsung Care is worth it, especially if you want to hold on to it for longer. Repairs, among other things are much cheaper with it, and it's similar to Apple Care. It's up to you to decide whether you want to spend extra, so perhaps weigh the pros and cons and decide whether it's worth it for you.
      My particular issue was slightly different, but buying through Flex should give you some protection. That said, I'd strongly recommend you take photo and video evidence before returning/upgrading just to play it safe.

    hi, do you know how much they charge if the screen is cracked, but still working?

    • @Techusiast

      Not sure. It depends whether you're under warranty and whether you have Samsung Care+

    I have a fold 4 with a 36 month contract, do i have to pay of the phone completely to upgrade to the fold 5 using the program? What happens to my current balance if i upgrade after 12 months ? Does it get added with my new contract?

    • @Techusiast
      @Techusiast  Před rokem +1

      I'm not sure if there are any changes with the 36-month contract, but with the 24, I can upgrade next month to the Fold 5. I'd have to return the Fold 4 in good condition (minor scratches are okay, but no dents or any big damage), and then Samsung would settle the remaining credit, and sign me up for a new one loan

    Is this Samsung flex

    • @Techusiast
      @Techusiast  Před rokem

      It's similar, but not the same. The difference is that Flex lets you select the upfront payment amount and the length of the loan duration.

      @@Techusiast ah so would you say it’s still worth going for flex for the s23 even if it’s got its issues

    • @Techusiast
      @Techusiast  Před rokem

      The only thing I can say is that it’s worth considering, but I can’t say whether I can recommend it. Sadly, my experience wasn’t good, but there’s a chance you might not have any issues. There’s a risk, and it depends on whether you’re willing to take it and deal with it.

      @Techusiast their just absolutely fucking useless, half the people I spoke to at customer services didn't even know what the hell the upgrade program was. I'm due to upgrade now to fold 5 but duno if I can't be bothered with all the hassle. Might just stick this out another 12 months then hand it back. Unless they come up with a decent deal on the 5. Last year I got so many freebies, discounts, vouchers with my 4 it was hard to say no.

      Just to update, u couldn't resist upgrading to a fold 5 from my fold 4 via upgrade programme. This time, absolutely perfect, new phone came, day after return pack came, day after I sent it back, 2 days after that the old agreement was terminated. Samsung have redeemed themselves this year! I waited it out until a decent fold 5 deal came up, ended up with a free watch 6 and 10% discount

      @@MrHipwell1989 Awesome, glad to hear that! It sounds like you found a really good deal! I decided to skip this year in hopes of getting even bigger updates next year. I'll probably make an update if/when I decide to upgrade. Enjoy your Watch 6 and the Fold 5! :)

    Samsung has the worst customer support I've ever come across, at first it shocked me a company such as Samsung didn't give a monkeys once you'd bought their product, and then over the years when I've had to contract them I've just got used to it. We really were moving to a samsung household, fridge, tv, freezer, washing machine, phones, but after their shocking customer service responses cannot wait to replace all my samsung white goods. Have just upgraded my washing machine and steered well away from Samsung (loved the product, faults not so much and their warranty programme didn't come up to par) freezer is leaking despite the 10 year warranty I'm not even bothering to go down that route as I know they won't honour it and I cannot waste my time or energy chasing them up -I know they give off rubbish customer service to get people to this position so will never purchase white goods from them again. BUT I just can't move away from their phones, was considering the flex contract but with my experiences and your video not sure this options is for me. thanks for your honest review.

      Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! I'm sorry things didn't go well for you, but I hope you can sort it out soon. Unfortunately I can't say anything about their household products as I haven't used them before.
      Despite the negative experience so far, I think it's worth chasing it down. One day, you might be lucky and get someone who could help you. Otherwise, you might have a leg to stand on and go down a legal route, which as far as I am aware, is possible in the UK. Unsure about other countries.
      It looks like Samsung Flex might be the new "Upgrade Program", and they're offering it for all the new Galaxy devices, which is very similar to the previous one. I think it's worth considering, especially as it could protect you for everything outside of warranty - though the two years of standard warranty (here in the UK) will protect you from all manufacturer faults.
