I think doing this would go to show Nintendo that even after everything they’ve made, some classic godamn Mario bros is still all some people need to enjoy themselves. Maybe we’ll get maker 3 with actual 3D levels, or even wonder mechanics!
In my head, a hard Mario level looks like something you'd see in a Kaizo rom hack: shell jumps, precision platforming, that kind of thing. But these truly look like the hardest, evilest Mario levels ever created. Kudos to the team for clearing some of these.

It's maybe a little silly that it is all about playing a video game, but I think it's cool to see people from all over come together to complete a project. Certainly gets my Christmas spirit going.

I know the last handful of levels will be some supreme bullshit like 500 second level where a hidden block on a rail drops down from the ceiling with a key in it at a random time and I’m kinda excited to see everyone band together to search the hell out of these levels

The first video from Riley actually got me pretty interested in this goal. So much so that I joined the discord, pulled out my original disc of SMM1, and gave it a shot. I only ended up first-clearing 5 levels, but I’m happy with that. I really hope we’ll get to see every level cleared

Braiden was aware that the ability to upload would shut down before he managed to complete it, so he had copied the level over to an alt with a dev exit placed in order to upload it before new submissions ceased. However the level code was never publicized before his clear, outside of a rare appearance in 100 Mario Challenge Super Expert by stray players. Once he managed to complete the publish test, he released the level code. By the way, if you were thinking that the dev exit would still be there, he had removed it entirely after publishing it, as saving changes to an already published level will update the published level. (This is no longer true after uploads ceased, where saved changes in maker mode no longer affect published levels.)
I want to thank DGR Dave for spreading the knowledge of the uncleared levels for this game, I love his content and now I'm trying to complete these levels, they're really hard though haha.
This is an amazing project! It also means my levels will finally be played lmao (some of my levels were never cleared, and if they were, they were cleared by me on an alt account. The good ol' days lol)

If you somehow manage to get 0 uncleared levels by the time Nintendo shuts down the servers, can you make like a documentary sort of thing about the journey to get there, like how summoning salt does it. It would be super cool.

Why do the Japanese players who got a clear not get named shout outs or links in the description, just the mention that "a Japanese player beat this"? (Not being accusatory just curious because I'm interested in following them too)

I have seen some completion of a stupid level that had a tool to show the entire level including hidden stuff. was that a SMM2 tool or why do people not find dev exit cheese? You'd think people would be able to reverse engineer SMM1 earlier than SMM2

They used a program that got the data for every level in mario maker, and then from there filtered to only levels with zero clears

trials of death will get uploaded on custom servers and it will get cleared

CCB explained it in the 0% discord server, I forgot what he said exactly but what's important is that the level has a 1/1 clear rate

What do you do about the levels that have patched out phantom jumps required?
we try to cheese them and if it's impossible to cheese we just report them. nintendo surprisingly actually still deletes them.
