  • Here is the build video of my Audi V8 on the TT-02 chassis.
    In this video I show some clips of a German documentary, I show a montage of the chassis build, a musical video of the body preparation, some real footage and a musical montage of the body in a Final Reveal. I discuss the chassis halfway through and I add my final comments at the end. I have tried to improve my editing in this video with mixing, so I hope you like it! Enjoy =)

    inspirational upload, the stock footage was great, Panel line tape has really stepped up my bodysets, this kit is on the level of the Volvo 850, only held back because it's not rare bodyset yet. Have found that, having the proper Tamiya wheels is about as important as having the bodyset, I really like the Scottish RC guy, "unboxing radio control", He got me going on the touring/rally car stuff.

    Hi Simon, WOW! I loved every second of that video and I'm completely speechless! If you were on my Krypton Factor you will be my winner! That was absolutely amazing, bringing the DTM referencing into the background of your building process, setting the scene at the start of the video for the history of the brand, through to that fantastic detailed interior, along with the exterior; absolutely gorgeous! Those hours and hours of building, but more along with the hours and hours of editing; one word, 'Genius'. And you did make me blush with the shout out, a big thank you for the recognition. Your work is iconic and you've done Tamiya proud with that Audi V8, in my book, absolute legend. If it helps, there is a seller on ebay Orange RC that sells an electronic switch that you can use to switch the LEDs using a spare channel, he's a UK seller it was about £10. Amazing video and build, a massive thank you to you Simon for putting so much time, effort and creativity into this. I have been going a bit crazy on buying and building kits of late and slowly my skills are improving, but decalling and fine detail painting can be a challenge. On this Audi V8 kit you have done a splendid job of everything and I was looking closely to see if you had the wrinkles and bubbles that I have around the wheel arch decals, nope! So how do you do it? Also what paints do you use for the cockpit please?

    • @SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel
      @SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks aeon for your kind words. I try and use the body heat and friction from my hands to massage the decal and force it to conform. Your natural oils also help you in this as they help your thumb and forefinger slide about (so to speak) This also helps reactivate the adhesive on the decal if it has dried slightly. I try and adopt the principle that air bubbles are trapped air, therefore by massaging from the center you force the air to the edge. 5 minutes per decal if required. Force it out!!! 😉

    One of the best videos I've seen on the TT chassis. The effort you've put in with the documentary and the montages really shine through.
    This has inspired me to build one of my own. It's a shame though that these kits aren't available here in India and I'll have to ask a friend flying down from the UK to carry one for me.
    Could you help me with the box dimensions the kit ships in? Wouldn't want to hassle him if it's too big to lug around.
    Thanks.

      Thanks very much Gurpreet. You are so kind. These TT-02 boxes are pretty standard sizes. It measures approximately 19 inches x 9 inches x 7 inches. I reviewed the kit on my channel and you can get a good idea of how compact it is - as I say all the TT-02 boxes are very similar in size. I also have the Ford GT Mk 2 to review and again...the same sized box. 👍

I don't know if it was Pete or Mark who advised me to watch your videos a few months ago, but in any case he was right. You have perfectly mixed the history of this car with your assembly. Your work on the bodywork is also remarkable. You really made me want to design an interior for my Tamiya touring cars. I am currently building a TT-02RR and believe I will order an interior for this one. A big thank you to you Simon, I am still in shock and the charm of your video, it was magnificent.
