  • Nick D'Virgilio presents the Gretsch Drums Brooklyn four-piece shell pack. The Gretsch Brooklyn 4-piece Shell Pack boasts vintage tone that can only be described as warm, open, and wide. Gretsch drums have been some of the most played and most recorded drum kits in America's musical history, and you'll hear that same character in the Brooklyn 4-piece Shell Pack. Any drummer at Sweetwater will confirm that this shell pack is an exceptional choice for both recording and performing. Its six-ply maple/poplar shells give you impressive attack with full, round fundamentals.

    Nick is a powerhouse. I have had this kit in cream oyster finish for about 5 years. It sounds great, is easy to tune and the hardware is excellent.

    The first rack tom sounds a little too high and thin for me, but that second rack tom might be the best sounding tom I've ever heard. Overall, very nice kit.

    Love the Brooklyns, my favourite Gretsch drums.
    Unfortunately, they sometimes don’t come with matching Brooklyns snares, which is annoying.
    They should come standard with the kit.
    If you want to use another snare, that’s fine, but at least provide the matching snare as standard.
    People have multiple snares these days anyway.
    Brilliant drumming, as always.

    Seeing Nick play so many different style of music on a high end Gretsch kit just feels right. Since Gretsch has been really redesigning their lineup in the last few years, any plans for Sweetwater to do reviews of the redesigns for the Renown RN2, Catalina Club or Energy (and energy street kit)? I'd also love to see Nick go down to their factory to make a tour video and design a USA custom kit.

      @Monsterdrumma Před 5 lety

      Roy Beckerman Agree and this is like Gretsch's Ludwig's being they are maple/poplar/maple like Ludwig. The difference is the lug count on the toms and the 30 degree bearing edge. Great combo all around for sure!

    Hi Nick!! Love your videos, you are an amazing player. Here to ask if you could you do an updated video for the new Gretsch Renowns? I like your new recording setup and because the Renowns are the higher line of the "non-USA" kits it would be interesting to have it to make a fair comparison. Thank you!!

    How did you tune the heads of the drums? Were the bottom heads tuned higher than the topcs ones? Or vice versa? Your reviews are what I keep watching to determine what kit and snare I'm going to buy next!

    Anyone who likes Nick’s demos has to check out his old band Spock’s Beard...one of the best progressive outfits of the last 30 years. Their discography from The Light through to Feel Euphoria is one of the best, most consistent runs any prog band, period.

    This is my dream kit but generally I don't keen on playing 10 inch toms!Can I chose my own sizes (12,13,16,24)?And do you ship to Greece (not only Gretsch but Paiste and Evans as well, because some stores don't ship outside usa)?

      I know that on Gretsch's website they sell add-on drums, and on Sweetwater's website, they sell a 16 inch floor tom for this kit in black oyster, though I'm not sure about where they can ship

      Actually these are 16th note triplets. He's playing RH, LH, kick, RH, LH, kick....etc. But the RH moves between snare and floor tom. Slow your video down to half speed, clearly triplets.
