No ano de 1981 eu fazia karatê na Pfizer de Guarulhos, porém o sensei nunca foi de passar pra gente a aplicação dos katas. Isso é muito importante gente, acho que hoje deve ter mudado!
“The meaning of the directions in kata is not well understood, and frequently mistakes are made in the interpretation of kata movements. In extreme cases, it is sometimes heard that "this kata moves in 8 directions so it is designed for fighting 8 opponents" or some such nonsense.” - Sensei Mabuni writing around the turn of the Century (very early 1900s I believe)
Great job. Yes, I know, I know, this is all wrong and the morote uke is actually a complex ju-jitsu technique and the knee strike at the end is a leg bar or whatever. Etc etc. I have no problem with people overanalyzing kata, it serves a purpose. Personally though I think that the Heians especially were created to be as simple as possible, and while maybe they do include some techniques that are not obvious those are few and far between.
Never works in Real Life. Nicely rehearsed, especially with your students...the ones dead or knocked out. No disrespect to you in any way. Comments based on training at The Infamous Takushoku Diagaku, Tokyo in '72, and '75 (for four years) and more importantly working On The Doors....a different Dojo !!
The demonstration was better than I thought it would be. Why karate peeps do not study arm bars, wrist and elbow locks is beyond me. But instead, they stack their fists on the side of their hip (!!!!!) and proceed with a wind up block-punch🙃. The combat distance needs to be much closer too, just like irl.
@@Luke-ji2jc Say what? For art? For useless sparring? I don't think so. Best you study your history on how old katas like Passai, Kanku, and Nihanchi are. They were created for down and dirty, life and death combat. Second place got you killed. The kata's form resemble the actual structure of a fight to develop muscle head memory. They were changed, especially post WW II, to be more stylish, for sporting/ recreation purposes. Ju-jutsu went the same way with the creation of judo: Safe, art, sport.
@@bradlong7941 By sparring i didn't mean Those Kind of sparrings were you just score your points u are right i should not have used the word "sprarring" But now many senseis don't tell their students that katas are not made for only doing fancy moves I do agree with you on that point thats all i wanted to say The kata Movements are meant to be applied not the full kata like this people thought in comments section
Agreed. Very wrong interpretation. A block is never meant to be just a block in Karate Katas. They are mostly throwing, joint locking and stand up grappling techniques
@@nytrodralyg8872 if you ever did practive with Wolf-Dieter Wichmann you had seen that his block is more than a block. But in this demonstration it is just an explanation how the kata works.
Thanks for this valuable info, Sir.

Actually katas aren’t taught for doing exactly same moves in a street fight first it’s an art and then it improves your sparring
Really...
