    This is one of the best videos on the practical application of these katas. It shows the moves as simple, effective and easy to replicate for almost any student. Who knew ... the Okinawans!! They must be laughing at us.

    Despite the few inane know-it-all ramblings by some keyboard warriors in this comments section, I agree with the majority - this is great stuff. Thank you for sharing it.

    Gray Shifu First of all running away teaches one to be a coward.We all know violence is never the answer. But when met with a threat one must defend ones self otherwise the training is redundant. There is reality based martial arts and non reality based martial arts to begin with..neither have anything to do with violence...when one is training in fantasy arts they always make sure the smoke screen by pointing our to avoid a fight..Thats a given..what is not a given is non reality arts like the one shown here.

      In any case, one can always argue that something wouldn't work against a trained fighter. These applications are designed to be effective against the most common, most likely attacks. Against a trained or experienced fighter, the attacking scenario would probably be different. The initial stages would be more like boxing , kumite, or MMA. Self defense usually doesn't work that way.

    • @mortgagefinancing5558
      @mortgagefinancing5558 Před 7 lety

      With all due respect this is so typical. First of all self defense should not just be against "most common attacks" as what is "most common" these days is everyone does martial arts to some extent. An 'experienced " fighter can be at low levels when it comes to boxing grappling since these days alot of people train. Furthermore, there are alot of bad people that do martial arts as well. No one would open their arms without covering up and closing the center. therefore this type of material will not work due to the fact that the arms will not stay open long enough freezing in time for this material to work .People do not punch straight the body rotates in a circular fashion. People rotated and punch one, two ,three when they punch they are not assuming someone will move the way you want them too. When dealing with a completely none trained fighter you wouldn't have to train so many years to deal with. The problem is for many martial arts practitioners is they have no idea what reality is in a fight. Place a Karate person even in a "sport" in the ring using this type of concept and they either would be on their back choked out or on their feet knocked out so fast they wouldn't even know what happened to them. It has been done time and time again in the UFC and other bare knuckle fights.If that is and arena of sport imagine what would happen on the street.

      Negativity and pointless quarreling on the internet. It's one of the reasons why many good teachers simply don't provide videos. If people like you could just shut up. If you know better, do better, good for you. Bye, mate, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
