- Watch as the technically astute and highly organised producer MARTIN STIMMING gives Electronic Beats TV a tour of his audio gear in this Slices Tech Talk. His set-up is based around Cubase and various analogue processors and synthesisers. Stimming’s textural and ardent productions and live shows have impressed audiences since he joined Solomun’s Diynamic family in 2007. In addition to his home label, he also found his way onto stalwart imprints like Pampa, Freerange, and Poker Flat, and has constructed remixes for the likes of Wankelmut, Ian Pooley, Deadmau5, and Claude VonStroke.

"Production is a fight I win". Awesome quote
He's a real German's German. He's more German than currywurst mit pommes. His approach to engineering is more German than Audi.
What a fantastic engineer and producer. As a sound engineer I really appreciate the way he works, and I love that even with all his technical knowledge and engineering pedigree, the thing that makes his electronic music stand out is how organic it is. In my mind he's one of the most underrated producers in the world.
+TheDave000 sounds like a big compliment :-)
+TheDave000 hahaha
He is not underrated - everyone who knows him, has almost the same point of view on his skills. So - no - he is known as a big one.
This is why Stimming is a huge rolemodel to me. He appreciates real artistry and knows that a masterpiece can only be made thru the process of handcrafting it. He is also very open minded and likes to share his knowledge (especially in his Christmas Calendar) in a generous way. A great artist that puts a rare but worthwhile effort in his productions. Inspring as allways, thanks for the video Electronic Beats.
+Philipp Wallat researching on production.....one comes to realize that simplicity accommodates creativity.....KiNK shared a similar view.....like having too much plugins ruin your output. Someone gave advice once - learn what you have; master it and you'd be surprised a the quality production that results. Stimming's very deep, intelligent and acoustic sound comes from this simplicity maybe.......but that's some really expensive equipment too :)
I like this uncluttered, simplified workflow he uses. Also the fact that he is using realworld sounds, makes a lot of sense what he says.
"Production is a fight that I win"
I love the way you are being you , Stimming ,-

Big fan of his *November morning* tune :-)
David Dhannoo there is so many emotions even words cannt say noth!
Very Insightful to learn about Stimming's production and techniques. Way2Go☆
Many thanks!! We always appreciate the feedback. Keep watching :)
Super Aussage!
I've been listening to Stimming for about 15 years now, and he's still one of my favourite artists of the genre.
Had the luck to see one of his gigs in Brussels in like 2010...a tremendous set of what are now classics. I'm hoping to catch you again some time Mr Stimming!!

One of my favourite producers. Keep it up Martin, we love you!
I love the way he's set this studio up. Very clean layout, everything in its place and connectable. Simplified but powerful (expensive too)
+colin lindo very true. especially the expensive part ;)
Still gold.
Stimming is fabulous! (and a really nice guy too)
This was absolutely wonderful. Thanks to Martin Stimming for this. I am getting back to music production after almost 15 years and this gave me some ideas for how to set up my new studio. Thanks! :)
Stefan Hansen Welcome back! :)
Everyone want that helmet bro!
This guys music is beyond anything at times and I mean that in a positive and inspiring way! Makes you want to produce and compose music better yourself :)
I met Stimming 2 years ago at fusion festival with his girlfriend at the pizza bar, was super chill talking to him
Yeah he seems like a cool down to earth dude. A great artist who is humble. He really knows his shit when it comes to production. Would love to collaborate with him.
A noter inspiration moment for me !!
Really nice and valuable setup.
makes me want to boot up reason and get cracking again! it's been 2 days since I've made anything, which feels like 2 months. nice video. what a room.
love it!!
I could hardly agree more.
Niice set up. Very cool indeed
6:25 Respekt für den Strombergspruch ;)
Verrückter Musik-Professor! :)
Elektropop 002 in Rüsselsheim.
nice wacom cintiq idea, gonna steal it
Fantastic Interview ;-)
Naja, was soll ich sagen…
Allerdings was die DTAG hier abliefert ist grandios. Warum nicht in allen Geschäftsbereichen so gut?
the piano playing sounded like some game of thrones :) nice vid. good way of looking at things.
Aweeeeesome craziness
Stimming is the Dude!
Der hats schon übelst drauf 😊
Der hats schon übelst drauf.

Stimming is steaming.
Wann kommt ein Update? :)
awesome
nice setup
Hi Telekom,
Very interesting that you're using a Wacom pen tablet.
Now i'm curious... could you tell the Wacom exact model?
Cheers,
JaFre
Totally cool. What tablet are you using?
What's he playing on the piano. Sounds beautiful
Hey Telekom,
grossartig!
is this a real piano peace at the end, or just his improvisation?
Anyone got any idea of the order in which the gear is all hooked up? Would he go comp --> midi interface >AD Converters > Mixer ?
I can't say for sure and i've never owned the Xdesk though i've wanted one for awhile but i'm guessing pre amps first, those go into the xdesk, out to converters into computer and then back onto the xdesk for summing. And then you print you mix or stems back into the DAW. Though he might just have the pre amps going straight into the converter and then back onto the xdesk for further processing during the mix stage, depends if he wants to process his channels during the tracking stage. But again i've never owned one so take it as a guess
which producer table is he using?
Does anybody know the name of this amazing piano song at the end of the interview?
I have heard the song some time befor.
+Maze O Hmm we're not quite sure, perhaps it's one of the melodies from one of his tracks. Let the digging begin. Let us know if you find it out :)
does the track Stimming plays on the piano in the end of the video has a name/ which artist is it? Thanks ;)
I think i gotta do some collab with you , Her Stimming.
Poly Evolver ist einfach ein geiles Biest!!
The man at work, always interesting to hear him speak ! btw, is there any chance you could get in the studio with other members of dyinamic ? :) :)
Rowbance Music Who would you most like to see?
I've always loved to see David August in his studio. There are some interviews with him, but i can't find a video of him in his studio talking trough his setup/workingmethod.
Could be ofcourse he's not so open about it, which i fully understand.
But yeah, if you could pull it off. That would be amazing and interesting. :D
Greetings.
Electronic Beats Dixon please :D
What is the name of the percussion instrument at 4.00?
mupersan82
It's called kalebasse or sth, an african Instrument made from pumpkins
what are his monitors ? ATC something ?
Came back to this video, yea those are ATC's. Not sure if he's still got them cause i believe he's in a home studio now but i just bought SCM25a's and my mixes have been translating really well, but the most expensive piece of gear i've ever bought but it is the most important thing, tho the model he has is like next level $$$
#inspiration :)
guys plz help me here... is he using the Sony MDR7506 as a studio headphone?
It looks like audeze at 7:44 .
Whansinn! I bet his neighbours must love him
agauerm indeed they must ;)
Wie talked er eigentlich mit uns? How dare you aber super interessante Ansichten. 👍🏽
what kind of display is he using here and can anybody recommend a modern day equivalent?
He spoke of Cubase so I guess it is probably not a iPad, which might be also a good thing.
I'm also checking for a tablet to make music... Samsun and Microsoft does great alternatives.
@@effebidi9677 i did some more research and probably will get a samsung tab
you can use the newer versions (starting with tab 7 i believe) as a second screen with a windows pc and thus have an external monitor with touch and multitouch (if i understood it correctly)
i'll try running ableton over that
@@RababaInc It's a screen made specifically for digital design. Wacom makes those types.
The Wacom Cintiq to be precise.
Name of song that begins at 1:18?
Stimming-song for Isabelle
Plato was somewhat fearful of music and its powers to influence the peoples; to direly connect with a more inner self without the use of language
2:55 track id? so good
The Beauty (Original Mix)
Watching in 2019 - only thing that didn't date well is his vape setup - a flask!
2:19 just like deadmau5 assclaps :D
What song is it at 1:26?
Stimming - Cold Water
@@gkeaoyrge sounds very moondog inspired
Interesting that he's recording those percussion sounds with a dynamic mic.
Wouldn't he be better off using a condenser mic for that?
Electronic Beats Auf jeden ;)
Who can tell me about his computer and screen set up?
is it a build or do they sell a comp like that?
Its a Wacom Display or Computer, they are built to be used with a stylus. Usually graphic designers like these tablets but Stimming being Stimming found great use out of it. :)
@@KevinOchoa10 Thank you sir.
How much money do you think he spent on his studio? Who has this kinda money!?
The ones who sacrifice everything else
That's his job.
look at the studio of deadmau5! I think one of his synths costs minimum twice as much as my whole setup. (sorry for bad english)
3:22 LOL: "The elephant dick" ☺︎
Fuck sake now I can't unsee it.
5:45 track id????????????????
Song for Isabelle
5:10 name of the track?
.
Stimming - Song for Isabelle
What is that big iPad he´s using?
It is a normal PC with a touch screen.
That is Wacom Cintiq
Thank you so much bro. I really appreaciate it
its a genius idea in my opinion. Theres this weird disruption and disconnection when working with a mouse and keyboard that I feel it disturbs creativity. Im an analogue musician that went to electronic music and its the one thing I hate is that Im toying with a stupid machine
everyone hates the mouse xD
except for those that love it and they do walk among us, treat them just like mask wearers and be afraid, be very afraid
@@ogasi1798 😭😭😭
Gruselig
warum gruselig?
Animal protection is not happy with all this mouse hate
Whines about overcomplicated synths, has polyevolver - logic...
The feeling when also the mouse is too hipster for you so it doesn't work properly.
- Ends up blaming all mouse types and buys a stylus + other monitor instead..
That is logic my friends :)))))))
It's not about "hip" factor, it's just ergonomics. A tablet pen can really save you from RSI.
No need to pretend you're even hipper than the hipsters if you don't understand it.
Has nothing to do with it
I don't want to sound harsh but it seems like you really don't get the value of his art...
Magst du die Maus nicht? Hast wohl Probleme mit dem Handgelenk, was?!
Really appreciate the video. But for international videos, if you can speak English (as we know he can) just go for speaking English.
subtitles are fine. Just learn to read faster!
maybe try learning a second language like the rest of the world?
@@kgbinfo Fair point... but which second language should I learn? Should I learn German just so I can watch Stimming videos? German doesn't crack the top 10 in languages spoken globally. Tell me to learn Chinese or Spanish and I'd agree with you.
Why? He doesn’t care... just read captions. Or learn german.
@@antennatrees But if he used a second language, he may not be fluent enough to go as deep as he would like to into his passion and process
Song ID @ 1:25?
