Martin Stimming is a music producer from Hamburg who gained fame as part of the DIYNAMIC label with DJs and producers such as Solomun and HOSH. He now tours globally, performing in the hottest clubs and impressing as a live act by doing without a laptop. A sound aesthete and an all-round nice guy who arrived at the Elbphilharmonie with just a rucksack and cheerfully accepted the spartan support of one multi-socket strip and two office speakers. The location of his 30-minute live set is a little unusual: the Artistic Planning office, complete with a view of the Landing Stages. In normal times, it would have been almost impossible to pull off this production because the office is full of hustle and bustle, especially in the evenings. But these are not normal times - so we are delighted to take advantage of this strange situation to present a short and sweet Elbphilharmonie Session with Stimming.

by far one of the most inspiring artists - in some many tech talks he's describing how he's creating grooves by recording shaker loops by hand, i'd say these shakers are probably his signature sound.
Especially his chewing gum container shaker 😉
Absolutely fantastic. Love to have Martin as one of the greatest german „exports“… I really have overlooked his art for too long, what a shame! That filigree, that emotion in the tracks and the performances… wow.

You're also playing live when you're playing on a Computer... at least you can, and most (good) artists do so as far as i know.
I also think its great to see that he is playing live, but i dont see the difference a computer would make. Just because he doesnt have a computer doesnt necessarily make it live.
@@braincakez6603 There is definitely a computer, recording everything in as many different tracks as the gear allowes... It's virtually impossible to sound this good using just hardware.. This live performance was 99% certainly heavily post processed to make it sound this good.. Nothing wrong with that.. Just want to manage expectations of people thinking that with a few hardware synths, it's gonna sound this balanced, etc.

@@fluim0102 It's the octatrack, it's basically an hardware daw, he splices studio tracks into it. Think it's definitely all live
@Yalek Yalula Machines Instruments. Not everything with a chip is a computer but a computer can be an instrument too... so call it as you want. Doesn't change a thing :D
