►WE USE THIS SOUND RECORDER (AMAZON) - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

"I think I spent a lot of time distracting myself with outcomes that allowed me to advance but didn't allow me to explore." So many gems dropped here.
The pearls of wisdom in this video flew out of the screen and hit me in the face
I love it when I receive a realisation. I didn't become self-validating until after my 40s.
I love this guy!! His honesty, charisma, and wisdom is remarkable. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥🔥
This is the first time I have heard someone dismantle that terrible phrase, "Those who can't do, teach". The full version is “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.” But this horrible line, originally from George Bernard Shaw's play Man and Superman, is still used to dissuade people from becoming teachers. To dismiss the wisdom of teachers. So of course I love the way he debunks and expunges it by turning it around. How about "Those who can do, do both?" He's a writer and a teacher. Those who can do, teach. Those who can teach, do. That's empowering for any artistic endeavor.
This was such a focusing video for me. It's very easy, in the everyday scheme of living, to lose focus about your gifts and what you're really on Earth to do with those gifts. This was a huge help in throwing off the unnecessary burdens I've been carrying and getting back on the right track. Many thanks to Film Courage and Mr. Vorhaus for the much needed course correction.
Good interview, he give great answer that help us appreciate more of our strength with a wisdom from his experience
9:05 "My only job is to exploit my gifts." The professional industry's validation of your work is fleeting. Today they love you, tomorrow they're not interested. So the artist has to find a way to persist and persevere. My job then is to keep working, keep producing my art. (Don't Get it right, Get it Written F.C. video). Meanwhile, in dealing with the industry, if I have limitations I get help. I love his distinction between what he calls "fearing I'm not worthy" vs "knowing I'm not worthy." His focus on "My gifts are my platform." So if employers, financiers are not going to validate me, I need to find that validation from within myself. What is my internal validation? That I have these gifts. That I love putting them to work, it makes me feel good. When I discovered what I could do meaningfully and inspirationally and stopped rejecting that part of me, and actively embrace it, the doors started to open. This video is loaded with great lifetime advice, no matter your medium.
I'm at that point. Just graduated, started as a writer and still too much dependant on my work in healthcare. Thank you.
Amazing teachings right here. Vers helpful, thank you 🙏
Thank You.
this is so profound, thank you
great insights
Spot. On.
Thank you for sharing🎉❤🎉❤You are a treasure 💫🫵⚡️🔔❤️🔥❤️🌹Keep your creation and inspiration ! You are on the right track🎉
I need to learn how to take my writing to a Hollywood level. Wish there was more mentorship to understand this business more. But overall spectacular interview.
There is. Have faith. Where there is a will, there, a way will appear. Have you faith. The way is open.
I'm 37 and find myself in this exact same spot. I held myself back from teaching for a long time because I couldn't stop hearing this over and over again in the back of my head. Then I finally said yes a few months ago and all I can hear since is "Does it mean I'll only teach from now on? I don't want to stop writing.".
Thank you for this very inspirational video. I needed it. Perfect timing!
Great to hear! And our best to you as you move forward!
@@filmcourage Thank you! I'll do my best 😄
Excellent
I absolutely LOVE this!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
What do you like about this video?
Every video by this chap leaves me with a new and often unforgettable insight into creative practice. Thank you, Mr Vordello
I like the part when the person says words and I forget them because im too creatively advanced and secure to be triggered .
The man speaks truth imo ,
@paulveltman1471 i see that you read The Comic Toolbox as well - excellent reference!😂
I never had this problem , from the moment i could make marks on walls or noise with an instrument i always did it and found love and joy in the creative act, im 37 and spend my days creating without fear. I only just learned that othwr artists stifle or withold their own gifts due to many reasons, i personally cant empathise with this but i can say with certainty if im not creating and giving my art away for no profit , ill turn inside and back to front not in a good way
Amazing
Love this!
Thanks for watching!
I wonder if "Rebel" was Rebel Wilson??? 😮
Very informative ✌✌
Glad it was helpful!
❤❤❤
John is clearly the Three eneatype of the Eneagram. Once he learned that his gifts were true and worthy, he could reach authenticity, which is the THREE's conflict between his self and his inner personal advertising agency. I can see that because I am a 3 too! Congrats!.
Sorry, John.. still couldn’t even imagine that i would use AI as one of tools . Because at some point it is kind of a “ human artificial intelligence with independent decisions “, not a screwdriver in scrap’s bag . But it’s OK to let him drowing your sunset 😊😂. Thanks FilmCourage for your golden interviews with golden experts ❤❤
UH Oh, he brought up the bad word "Ai". its going to be a tool we all use ppl. thoughts?
