Great information as always. Thanks!
Awesome. You’re welcome. Thank you!
Perfect sense as usual 👏👌
👊 thank you. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for being here.
The way you explain things is the best I've seen on CZcams
That's quite the compliment. Thank you! I think a lot of lawn folks on CZcams try to act like experts, while most of them have no formal education in turfgrass management. Not saying you have to have that to be knowledgable, but I just don't want to make myself out to be more than I really am. I'm simply a regular dude who has a decent lawn and has learned a few things along the way. So I try to explain things in basic terms the way I've learned them. I really appreciate your feedback. It means a lot and helps me know how I'm doing. Thanks again. Have a great day!
Bring on the hot and dry! After another 10” of rain here in northeast Texas this past week, I’m ready lol
Daaang! You need a boat by now. We’re just right behind ya. To drier days 🍻. Appreciate ya as always man!
Great content once again Travis 😎 hope you guys dry out soon!
Thanks buddy. Much appreciated. I sure hope so too! 👊
I just got in to trying to have a nice yard and I’m learning a lot watching you and others
Right on. That’s awesome. Appreciate ya watching. Just have fun and don’t sweat the small stuff. Happy to help any way I can. Thanks again.
Such a great video brother really appreciate u very helpful
Thank you so much. You’re welcome. Really appreciate you!
Thank you for the great info!
You're quite welcome. Glad it helps. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Super dry up here in PA. Need to setup my DIY sprinkler system. Great video man!
That's what I hear. Hope you get some relief soon. Appreciate ya very much man!
Great video thanks
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate ya.
Dry and hot here in Va. I sprayed the lawn with Hydretain today and watered it in. I'm not sure if or when I'll post the video on it though. Great video as always brother. Love the info you drop on DIYers.
Sorry bro. Hope the Hydretain works as advertised. Thanks so much buddy. Really appreciate you!
Excellent video. Short and to the point. Info was concise and presented in an easy to absorb manner. Never heard the DIET acronym before. Thank you! Good to know. Subscribed!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Live in Texas, keep the rain coming! Drought will be here by July....
I know right. It stinks now but we’ll be singing a different tune before too long. Thanks bro!
Good information.
Great. Glad you found it helpful. Appreciate ya watching and leaving a comment! Thank you.
I don't know if we're in an official drought, but I can't remember a period of hot and dry weather like this since the 80's. I keep my lawn at 4" anyways, and that has been the saving grace of my lawn this year. Everyone else is brown and crispy, while mine is the only green one, but even mine is starting to check out. It's getting that grayish tinge to it now. The 4" cut is definitely the way to go, but most people refuse to keep it that high.
The added height makes a difference for sure. That’s awesome that you’re still green while everyone else is scorched. It’s paying off to keep it long. 👍👍 appreciate ya watching and commenting. Hope ya get some rain soon.
Dropping more knowledge while that subscriber count is steadily going up…
Preciate the good info as usual. 😀
Yes sir. Slowly climbing up there. Just haven't had that one big hitter that got me a big jump all at once. It's all good though. Appreciate your support. Thanks for always checking the vids out and commenting!
Dude that pool of a backyard!
Haha I'm telling ya. If folks thought I was just whining in my other videos, they have no idea. It has been miserable. Thanks bro!
Good timing. Very dry in Central Florida, although cooler now. 90's coming this week. Having pure sand soil doesn't help. I hand watered yesterday in 10 minute intervals 5 times so the water didn't run off. Will listen to your advice and let it grow tall. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Love it it when it times out just right. Sorry you're having to deal with the heat already. Of course you are in FL haha. A few summers ago when I couldn't water as much I let mine grown taller and had the greenest lawn on the block because it held the moisture better. Worth a shot for sure. Good luck. Appreciate you very much!
Here in Florida it’s been dry dry.
Irrigation is a must.
Rainy season is coming soon. 😆
Yup. Yours is a coming for sure. Thanks so much as always. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
I mow at the most highest, and in the summer this year it got hot with no rain, so I don’t mow when it doesn’t rain, this way icy gives it times to get tall. My tall fescue is tall now and I’m not mowing, I have to water 3 times a week, and part of my grass is on a slanted hill which is hard on it
We got hot and dry this week in North Alabama. Looking at out first 90 degree day tomorrow and no rain at all in the forecast for the next ten days.
Yikes, yup you're definitely about to be in the hot, dry group. Appreciate your comment. Thanks so much for watching!
There is always someone dealing with dry/wet conditions. I’m hoping you dry out soon, let’s make some grass clippings. Good luck. I’m dealing with 7 days no rain in Pinehurst.
Indeed there is. Thanks buddy. Appreciate that. On the flip side, I hope you get some rain soon! 👊
Currently watching this during a hot dry stretch in Chicago. Been in the high 80's for 3 days. Plus the drought is now upgraded to "severe" so if you can send some rain this way that would be appreciated 👍
Dang bro. You need some rain. Hope you get it soon. Wish I could ship some up to ya haha. Thank ya buddy!
Fingers crossed their are one or 2 days with around a 40% chance this week... 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 some of my lawn accounts have been bumped to bi-weekly. Time to upsell on landscaping work (mulch, weed pulling etc)
🤞🤞 keeping grinding buddy. You’ll make it. Hard work pays off.
Amazing youtuber
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that!
I appreciate your videos and hope this isn't a silly question. During dry months how long should I wait to water after mowing.
My watering and mowing aren’t intertwined. I water when it’s time and mow when it’s time. Too many people make a rule out of everything. You can water immediately after mowing if you want. I do all the time. If it needs a drink, give it one. If it needs cut, cut it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Lol im watching this while on vacation in Florida my house is in Virginia ware its multiple 90 degree days my fescue is going to be toast.
Yeah, the east coast and parts of the northeast were the ones on my mind for this vid. Hope everything turns out on the good end for ya. But really, how could it be bad? You're on vacation LOL. Don't worry about the lawn. It'll be there when ya get back haha. Enjoy your vacation. Eat some fresh caught grouper or red snapper for me. 👊 Appreciate ya!
I'm prepared for this hot dry weather in my front yard. I'm doing a little stress test in the back though. Scarified it twice today in 91° and took HOC down to 5/8" with a forecast of 95° tomorrow. Also put some 2-0-20 down and a splash of SLS 15-0-15. Very curious to see what happens to this low cut cool season. Might be a hay field tomorrow night. 🤬🥵🔥.
Right on man. I love lawn experiments. Keep me posted on how it turns out. Super jealous of the heat you’ve got. We’ve only broke 80 a few times. It’s nuts. Thanks as always buddy!
I'm in Dallas and loving all this rain! Saves on water bills and fills the lakes and reservoirs. Also stops the farmers from bitching! My tip for St Augustine grass ... cut it on your mower's highest setting. My cut is 4".
Solid advice for the st aug owners. Yeah, the rain is definitely nice to a certain extent. Unfortunately around here, there has been so much that it’s bad for some farmers. My uncle farms corn and it has a hard time having wet feet for that long. He needs it to dry out. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
Last year I never stressed out about my lawn, 2 bags of fertilizer a year and mow once every 2 weeks was my normal. Then in the fall I found 1 of your videos, then more videos. I started following your advice and dang it I had a nice lawn. I bought a $ 99 reel mower and keep my Bermuda at 1.5 inches and loving it. I am now that guy the neighbors come to for advice. Fort Worth, Tx.
Right on. That’s awesome. Glad I’ve been able to help out a bit. Appreciate ya watching and supporting the channel. Keep up the good work.
When
We are definitely getting that hot heat here in Southeast Utah, I can’t decide if I have heat stress or disease, I’m leaning toward heat stress giving the fact that I can only water once a week on the weekends because I don’t have a sprinkler system, I drag garden hoses and a single sprinkler around and do what I can, we just got hit with lots of rain a week ago and already a week later it’s turning brown, I’ve never really had the problems I’m having now with this lawn but over the last few years I’m noticing it is getting worse, I’m at a loss as to what’s happening here, I already mow once a week and I don’t cut my lawn short, it’s always 2” or tall and I don’t take off more than a inch and a half at a time
Also getting way too much rain. I’d settle just to have some sunshine at this point
Amen to that. Me too. We’ll get there. Appreciate ya 👊!
@Budget Lawns where in Texas do you reside? Is that Tifway 419 on your lawn?
He is not in Tejas. Listen to that Arkansas drawl! 🤣
😂 yup, that’s right. I’m in northern Arkansas. I’m not exactly sure what Bermuda variety it is. It’s whatever the builder laid. I didn’t know any different at the time. At the build we’ve got going now I will definitely be in the know. Appreciate ya both for watching and commenting 👍.
Quick question that deals with drought. During this time which is more important, the 1/3 rule or the once a week mowing?
When it’s really hot and dry, you typically aren’t getting enough top growth. So mowing once a week shouldn’t break the third rule. Of course that all depends on if you’re irrigating, still fertilizing and grass type. I wouldn’t worry about breaking it if you’re just trying to limp the lawn along during a drought or extreme heat. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya.
It’s a disaster here... did get a quick mow in Friday evening and needs it again. Off topic but where did you get those mounts for the wine bottle tiki torches?
You ain't kiddin man. I mowed the swamp yesterday. Didn't have a choice with more rain headed our way. For the mounts, I just found something online on how to make them. Then you have to piece them together with different hardware. I just went to my local hardware store to get it all. Honestly though, I'm not even putting them out this year or doing them at the new crib. They've kinda been a pain in the butt. They look cool but not worth it. Thanks as always bro!
@@BudgetLawns 2-4 more inches expected this week, I’m over it. Good info there, appreciate that! Have a good one 🍻
The rain is beyond annoying. Thanks dude. 🍻
Just leaving a comment.
Thanks bud. Much appreciated.
@@BudgetLawns always buddy.
I live in LA. How often would you water the lawn. Mine is brown. It’s very hot.
1 inch a week in 2 waterings. The amount of time each time you water will depend on the sprinklers you use. Thanks for watching.
This year has been some crazy weather, y'all are getting rain like crazy and we haven't had rain in about 10 days. And I see none in the forecast for the next 10 days, North Georgia here. Do you still have the push reel? that would be good to have for you
You nailed it man. So many strange things going on. Parts of the northeast are already into the mid 90s. That’s nuts. Yeah I sure do. May bring it out if I absolutely have to. Gonna try to get the cal trimmer on it tomorrow. Appreciate ya watching and commenting. 👊
@@BudgetLawns I have that same disease in my lawn. . I burnmy Bermuda down every spring and it looks so good and tight for about 2 months and then when the heat sets in it goes to crap, 2-3 yrs straight now . Fertilizer has no response. Can't seem to get rid of the fungus. I've actually thought about killing it off and trying something else. It's going to hurt because I spent a lot spent alot of time sprigging and plugging this whole lawn I've got 22,000 ft.
Bummer. That’s tough. Lawn care can be a very rewarding and defeating hobby sometimes. I guess that’s what makes it interesting. Hope ya get something figured out.
@@BudgetLawns I'm actually thinking about bringing in a Harley rake and having them bust up the top four or five inches I know the Bermuda will come back maybe it'll be a lot better if it don't come back I won't lose any sleep LOL. Just worried what that will cost me for 22,000.
Yeah, that's definitely a lot of space and could get pricey. Gotta keep it on budget too 😉👍
What about using hydratain? Any experience with it during the summer?
Have not. I hear it works tho. Appreciate ya watching and the question.
LOVE HYDRETAIN! I've used both the granules and the liquid. It's saved my primadonna Kentucky blue grass, which wilts above 85°. Yeah, its pricy, but worth it.
I heard John and Bob's Smart soil solution is the best for a greener lawn
🤷
I totally agree with you so I plan on allowing crazy 😛 jimmy to cut my grass from now on. I will never touch that lawnmower ever again matter of a fact I am going to become a drunk 🥴.
Hasn’t rained in a month in CA
Wow. That’s wild. Wish I could give ya some. Appreciate ya watching.
@@BudgetLawns appreciating the content new Sub’ I mostly enjoy the No BS advice sir!
Awesome. Appreciate the feedback. That’s the kinda advice I prefer so it’s good to know other folks to too. Thank you for your sub. Glad to have ya here 👊
I am in southeast Texas, we are in a severe drought, we get our yard cut every two weeks, our Lawn Service doesn't even wanna take the chance of mowing it right now
Don’t blame em. I’ve been through long dry spells before and just let it go. No shame in that. Hope the drought ends for ya soon. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
@@BudgetLawns no problem, and I sure hope so, we got this high-pressure heat dome that's been over us practically all summer
wow !! cut your grass 3 times a week is alot ,i cut mine 1 a week and during a drought every other week
How abouts Scott's drought mix/summer guard fertilizer? Anyone with opinions or experience?
In the past I laid off the fertilizer in the heat to stop pushing growth and just focused on watering but this year I just put down Scott's Summer Gaurd. We'll see if it works.
No experience with it. Sounds like Chad is about to have a pretty good idea of how it works. Thank ya both for watching and commenting. Appreciate it!

@@chadcampbell8322 how did it go last year? are you going to use it again?

It's rained so much I can't even go fishing. The boat ramps are flooded and the road to my spot is washed out.
Bummer. You know it’s bad when that happens. Hope it recedes soon for ya that way we can get back to mowing and fishing. Appreciate ya!
@@BudgetLawns lawn mowing question. How long should you wait to mow after a week or two of rain just about each day?
I do it as soon as I can. Haven’t mowed in over a week because of rain everyday. If it’s dry enough tomorrow I’m gonna hit it.
Your voice sounds like a baptist preacher...lol...
Haha. I get that a lot.
I'd like some drought right now here in OK.
You and me both brother. They’re a coming I’m sure. Thanks bud!
Why
This was 2 years ago. I’m assuming we were going through a really wet, rainy stretch. I don’t recall exactly. As we know, too much rain can be bad just like no rain.
drainage and drain tile sweetbeef then no water prob dawg
👍👍
To much rain in Ga
Send some this way, please. Hope it lets up soon for ya. Thanks for watching.
Spray don't spray mow don't mow so much cut it short cut it higher DAMMMMM
I didn't realize this lawn care was so challenging lol
I think I want my henbit, crabgrass, dandelions back those were simply days! NOT
Hahaha. I feel ya there. Sometimes, I feel like weeds and a little grass would be so much easier. But then I realize it wouldn't be near as much fun. Thanks as always buddy. Appreciate ya!
My neighbor who's yard I spray called last night and asked if I had a weed problem like he did lol
I am going to have to break out the weed killer once things clear up and dry out. We are infested with weeds like never before! Lol
All this rain has me dealing with some weeds like never before too. They love the wet, cool conditions. We got this 👊
Lol mow 3 times a week! Sheesh. I mow 3 times a month and it's hard for me to find time to do that
😂😂😂
Apply potassium and Hydretain to your lawn before the heat and drought of summer arrives.
That’s CZcamsr marketing talk.
@@BudgetLawns Yes, the You Tuber you mention is Alan Hane the lawn care nut. He's been in the lawn care business for 40 years and I trust his advice as much as your advice.

Who goes to the gym 5 times a week? You’d be surprised. Some people love it. Thanks for watching.

Sometimes I'm so enthusiastic that I mow 2-3 times a week

You’re welcome.
Hate when y’all prolong the information, I end up turning it off and go to the next video
Patience is key to lawn care. You prolly waste more time looking for the perfect all-in-one video than absorbing valuable information from multiple videos. I’ve watched many, many videos. Long before I started making my own. Some I liked. Some I didn’t. Learned a lot along the way and never complained. Just my two cents.
