I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. In our ballet class my teacher has started to use songs (without lyrics) for exercises. When we have a new class we always play the "guess the song game". It makes the class more fun, sometimes it is nice to know the music. This gives me the same vibes❤️.

We do the same thing. It's so nice to play the "guess the song"-game but I have had to discover that everyone else knows way more Disney movies and songs than I do. 😂
@@user-pg3de9qx8d I'm the person that knows the Disney songs, but my teacher also uses musical songs and that's where I suck at 😅.
Does your teacher also use pop-songs, but instrumental. Because those are hard as well, you know the song, but also not...
I’m totally trying this as a challenge for myself. Also, love how you talk us through the combos now. Easier for me to concentrate and correct without looking at the screen. Merry Christmas Katie!!

Kathryn. Thank you SO MUCH. I started doing you ballet barres when I was performing on Disney Cruise Line and couldn't attend ballet classes since we would be out at sea constantly. Then, when COVID hit, it was easy for me to figure out how to dance still. These videos have made it possible to keep up my craft no matter what stage of life I am in or contract I'm on. Thank you for this and your other barre/workout videos! I was a dancer (although much better at tap than ballet) from 3-16 years old but have gained A TON of weight in the years since (and I was borderline obese even back then). In an effort to improve my mental & physical health I joined a CrossFit gym once a week. I’m really enjoying using these barre videos as a warmup and your strength workouts as a way of mixing up my routine between gym visits. I didn’t realize how much I missed dance until I found your videos. I quit dance at 16 because I was embarrassed to be dancing as an overweight teen, but I have already lost 8 pounds in the past month and I am feeling more confident than ever before. I am even planning on finding some adult dance classes when the pandemic situation gets a little better. Thank you so much!!!!!

Just did this and I loved it! I haven't done a ballet class since I did my advanced 2 exam 2 years ago and this felt so good to get me back into it!

you're saving my life with these classes!! i'll be traveling and will follow all of these. are you planing on posting a beginner pointe class as well? it's the only one missing for me 😅💜
In the grand rond de jambe jete (I.e. "Kick around" in the rond de jambe exercise I always aim to hit the seconde each time, rather than hitting an ecarte. Technically it's the same thing except that the associated epaulement is different, and body direction of 45 degrees is usually implied in ecarte. Balanchine technique may be completely different with different terminology though.
