I was born in Redhill and my late father used to buy his petrol from Gregory's garage at Reigate Heath garage.
I've heard of The Skimmington Castle but didn't know where it was, I do now!
I've been going to Priory Park since I was a baby, lovely place for everyone to run around and let off steam.
Thanks Matthew and Richard for showing us The Greensand Way
We grew up near Reigate and lived at Shagbrook so nice to see our home ground, thank you.
What a jolly jaunt! Thankyou!
What a fun vlog. Thanks Team. Enjoyed this.
Thank you both 👍🏻
J. Arthur Rank created "The Rank Organisation", he died in Winchester in 1972 at the age of 84. Edgar Wallace created King Kong. Born in Greenwich, London and died in Beverley Hills, California at 56 years old. Great to see Matthew again, you get on well together. Lovely!
Hearing about the pine trees on the tumulus solved a mystery for me. All great fun too.
Fabulous walk. Another comical couple you both are. Need to catch up o all your links. Well done and thank you. Most entertaining.
Thanks to both of you for another great two-hander. Cheers from Tassie.
lovely blog as usual i must say Richard you looked really sprightly at the beginning of it and the way you casually threw your footwear across your kitchen floor. very interesting blog look forward to the next one x
Thank you Richard and Matthew for a very interesting video, very informative as always.
Matthew - always a great source of local knowledge, had it not been for the leafless trees it could almost have been a mid-summer's day from the viewer's perspective. Very watchable and very enjoyable video ..... 10/10 !
Enjoyable As Ever Richard! Lovely To See Matthew & Renditions From The Parrott. Great To See The Tumilii (& Trees) + The Greensand Way With Leith Hill In The Distance. Look Forward To More! 😊 😊
Stunning area
Wonderful, interactive Vlog, with Mathew.
Very interesting repartee, between you two history buffs.
Looking forward to the next one, ........ in ......
3 1/2 years ?
Take care, both of you !
Stu xx
Yayy Richard you were near me, ive done some of that walk that you went on, I've seen and heard and talked to the parrot aswell, he talks to everyone, I haven't been to reigate heath for years though, really want to see reigate heath windmill, great seeing Matthew aswell. Great video guys :)
Nice to see Matthew, l always enjoy your walks together. Very enjoyable !☺
The river Mole goes through Molesey, a place l have fond memories of.
Brilliant video Richard. I've been looking forward to the continuation of this walk.
Great fun! You have a terrific rapport together - looking forward to more of you both!
It was wonderful. Thanks a lot!
Another great & fantastic video Nonsense on the Greensand Way | Reigate Heath Section!.👌👌👌👌❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video this morning Richard to go with my cuppa. Interesting fact is that the gong struck by J Arther Rank in the opening sequence wasn't where the sound came from, they were just props. Was told this at school many many years ago. Just looked it up and the sound came from a real one struk by a James Blades.
Great video as always! Know the area very well as Miles was born & grew up in Reigate & we lived nearby before moving to Sussex. In fact re the Rank family, Miles’ late grandmother was good friends with J. Arthur Ranks’ children when she was a child 😊
You and Matthew make a great tandem. Beautiful walk and I always enjoy seeing English homes. Will definitely checkout Matthew's channel.
Well done Richard doing your best keeping to the paths around the golf course. Interesting your comment about the dog walker not seemingly bothering about the golfers. I was a member at Reigate Heath GC and while it is a fabulous course and one of my favourites the dog walkers are a problem. They will stand in the middle of the fairway and have a chat with another dog walker knowingly stopping golfers from hitting. As I said, great course and friendly members and lovely terrain but the dog walkers do rather ruin things a bit !
A special place and a special golf club
That was good fun Richard, hopefully we won’t leave it 6 months next time! :) there’s probably some more links we could add 😜 - I know I’ve done this part of the route the other way on my channel!
Can you maybe link to the videos? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great to see the ‘lovely’ Matthew, I feel you’re in safe hands when exploring the beautifully wooded Surrey with him ☺️great video x
Thank you :)
Terrific, in fact you’re relatively fortunate to live in such a culturally rich part of the country, although the whole of England is a goldmine if you scratch the surface.👍
Totally enjoyed this thank you
Great Video lads. Such a lovely area around Reigate.
Cheers Marq - we must get out soon!
@@RichardVobes We will, lots going on at the moment but soon.
i recall leith hill being the home of the anti fracking campers ,i remember driving up through the trees seeing tents ect everywhere
Yes, that’s right - they had great difficulty getting all the campaigners out of the tunnels they dug
This is really cool
Arghhhh! Memories of games afternoon school cross country runs over the heath. As we could go home once we finished the course, it was a great incentive to run faster.
Very droll Richard..in great form...
Not forgetting Barnes Wallis, inventor of the bouncing bomb.
Buried at St Lawrence Church, Effingham near Learherhead, Surrey.
Was there ever an estate agents called PP Reigate?
So off you went in your van to visit the trees on Matthew's Tumuli...alternatively you could've been Fjording for the Pines...if you'd taken Julia you could've mentioned the beautiful plumage...sorry mate...visited my son-in-law yesterday and he got me into a Python frame of mind...thought I ought to say I'm still with you...just slightly less sane as the years pass and the grandchildren grow into answering back!
When you do ham street maybe if it's a Saturday I could hop on a bus or train to greet you both there to celebrate your achievement
sounds like you need me with my metal detecting equipment
Enchanting. I wonder if you will ever get to the bit that passes through Ightham Mote?
At the current rate of progress probably in 2042!
another suttton hoo treasure perhaps ??
