    Wow I cannot believe they restored an Allegheny engine! How did I not even know they were restoring one until now!? I'm completely mind blown. This is so cool!

    Terrific video!! How excellent to see & hear! Do you know if that’s the original whistle on 1309? Best sound!! Sounds so good in the mountains, in winter!

      Thank you, I do not know, but could find out. The only thing I know is that its a hooter whistle.

      It is a N&W whistle similar to the hooter. Information is straight from someone at western maryland scenic railroad. Also was told that #1309 will have a western maryland whistle installed on it soon. A 3 chime Hancock I believe.

      @@brycenew C&O freight engines typically had hooters extremely similar to N&W's, for all intents and purposes this is basically exactly how she would've sounded in revenue service.

    Western Maryland Mallet 1309 and Norfolk & Western Class A 1218 are good, but Union Pacific Challenger 3985 and Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 are far better.

      @@AppRailVentures Rode behind it when I was four or so. Seen and rode behind a number of others, and now I'll be coming out on the Capitol Limited in May with my father to see this one, too.

      That is where the polar express train runs to with the steam engine for now. Unsure of why that is exactly. Some speculations of tie replacement needed and an issue with the turn table approach.

    WM 2662 is speed limit 56km/h? It's the wheels that are unbalanced. Yes
    Left side from front add counterweight 50g add60g add70g add80g reduce50g add58g
    riht side front add 0g add 0g red 90g add 78g red 90g add79g this was rather good.
    why only 56km/h No mies per h. yes With this changes add reduce at 5cm from wheelring on counterweight side of the wheels. You can go 90miles per h. Google clic on my name.
