- So, this is a WW2 review. I wouldn't normally do a WW2 review in @WorldofTanksModernArmor (WoT Console) but the Centurion AVRE is something else. It's completely ridiculous! Fast reload and insane damage output and HESH rounds that don't care about armour. I have to say, I feel for those who play tier 8 and above.

Couldn’t agree more. I can put 3 or 4 shots out in one of my Tier 9 mediums and then get one shotted from an AVRE. It way too OP.
My first game in the AVRE was a little over 9500 damage. Averaging 5k at the moment. The fact that i can autoaim 500 damage at a type 5 heavy is an absolute joke and the game is unplayable at tier 10 with anything that relies on bouncing shots with clever use of it's armor layout. Being hulldown is absolutely meaningless if the enemy team sports 5 AVREs.

I have the tank and there is absolutely no way that it should face tier 8 tanks. It should have - 1 matchmaking, I acknowledge that it's flooding the matchmaker now because its new and it will even out over time but I think - 1 will negate the complaints about tier 8 being a bit of a nightmare at the moment.
Yeah I honestly do think this thing has no business seeing tier 8 what so ever if wg we're to one limit the number of these things ina game and rework it's match up I would be happy now I could say nerf it's penetration but I don't know how that will work but I do think it needs a nerf in that department

Tier 10 and Tier 8 tanks should never meet, period. -1/+1 should be standard.
This tank is flooding the game and it's horrible to come up against. It's effectively a cheat code
I agree with you Riki, the real problem is not about the tank, is that WG basically gave everyone a free ticket to Tier 10. In my opinion, you need to put effort in to earn tier 10 tanks-- either by grinding it or doing contracts. Like last season, one of the season rewards is a tier 10 tank. So everyone who spend 8,000 gold would have two tier 10s. What that means, is that there will be a lot of new players in tier 10 who doesn’t even know how to use the left stick.
Before I'd even achieved Tier X or Era 3, this was my objection to having premiums / easily earnable tanks at those levels.
I am being elitist, but I think at the highest tiers that is actually OK.
For there to be a sense of accomplishment at reaching those levels you NEED to have expended effort to get there
Playing at those levels shows that you either know the game or are extremely stubborn and dedicated.
Making these tanks purchasable cheapens the effort that it takes to get there.
The ease of use is just salt in the wounds imo and like every time a Tier X has been earnable in the past will turn Vets off.
I would much prefer them to maybe not limit who can buy them, but put some sort of block on getting to within a Tier or Era of the tank in order to play them.
So you need to get to Tier IX Tech Tree to roll out in a Tier X premium or get to (the top of?) Era 2 to roll out in an Era 3 premium?

I’ve been playing this game for 9 years, and only been playing Cold War for the last 7 months. Every one are getting there knickers in a twist just for the sake of it. It was the same when the Death Star and then the Shit Barn came out, play the Jageroo with just HE and you have the same but with armour. The problem with tier 8 is the amount of games you play against tier 10, if I played 10 games in a tier 8 tank six of the those games would be tier 10 games. The AVRE is basically a tier 8 centurion with a derp gun, most players in a tier 10 should have no problem taking them out. It’s a problem now because there are so many of them being a new tank, just like when the FV4211 came out.
You can't compare the jageroo to the centurion because 1: Jageroo doesn't have a turret and is way less mobile. Two: people spam premium rounds and it's armor profile is more basic I mean flat cheeks and then a bottom plate. Simple. Whereas the weak spot of the centurion tank is now covered by the biggest amount of spaced armor I have ever seen. A lot of skilled people can deal with AVRE's yes, but a lot of those people are either in the AVRE or they're struggling to pen the thing without getting blown to sh*t because it does not care about mine or your 9 years experience. I mean god. Don't you remember 9 years ago on the 360 version when the IS7 and E100 were beasts.
Ive come across this tank so many times. Once i was playing a game with a lobby full of tier 10 tanks and a centurion avre comes over a ridge line and was shot at by atleast 5 of my ally tanks and all of the shots bounced. this tank really needs to be switched to cold war.
I suggest instead of nerfing the AVRE they simply just move it to the CW mode say ERA 2.

Thanks for reviewing this tank. I got it, but haven't played it yet as there are just too many of them in the game. However, I am surprised that you don't even have to point to weak point to pen (most of the time) given that this tank has very low pen for tier 10.
Remember it fires HESH. The damage you get for hitting with no pen is splash damage, that is why. It is like with the Type 4 and Type 5.

Played my super conqueror had just about 1900 hp left, got 1 shot buy this tank, played my tier 8 with full 1500 hp, got 1 shot. It's no medium tank, it's a tank destroyer like Death Star and Death Barn without the drawbacks of both and has better armor than both. It doesn't have the weakness's that would make it more balanced. Ever since they made the changes to the maps, the interface and everything else, the game felt completely different and more for the Cold war side of the game.
Well said… just came out of a game where an avre bounced two shells from my jag pz e100. How is a medium bouncing a 170mm shell to the hull at close range???? Absolute joke, I feel like deleting the game. All the low armoured tier tens are now useless, grille 15? Useless. Stb1? Useless. I could name so many more
@@younow1511 even premium HEAT, AP and APCR don't work unless your using HESH and HE, only Arta, Death Star and Death Barn are doing the most damage from the front and even when aiming at the lower plate there's a very low chance to penetrate with any other shell

First game I had 7k dmg and 1 shot a Pershing in the lower plate for 1440 dmg. This tank needs a definite nerf.
I agree with you on this matter actually. Maybe they should lower the HESH pen or damage. Maybe 150 pen and 900-1000 damage.
What about Type 4s and 5s, should WG nerf them too?

Standard rounds should be changed to AP. Make people pay for gold rounds to hesh splash. This make people aim to do dmg. I feel the gold rounds are fine atm it's the standard rounds that make this tank op. IMO.
@@bengebhard8606oh God no. Then you have a medium tank doing solid 1400 damage or even 1000 damage on every hit is it's nerfed. And people are so rich nowadays that it won't matter. The problem with making its shell AP is that now it can pen through tracks and some spaced armor.

The WW2 vision system has always irritate me. True vision allows me to play the game with out getting irritated.
Just watched this video. Great video and points. Then they just said a few weeks ago that they are not going to nerf the tank. One reason was because people “earned the tank”???? Earned it with 6k gold
Spot on video Riki. One of the biggest frustrations in the game is having team mates who have no clue how to play. Wargaming continue to come up with Ops and rewards that are dependant on victories. Yet they allow new players to access higher tiers which destroys the teams.... Now they provide them with a tank that means they dont even have to try and learn the game, and therefore will never improve. Over the years I have enjoyed trying to unlock every tank in the game ( I am on my last 3 tier 9s). I can only imagine how painful it would of been with some of those stock tier 8s facing off against this OP monster!

@@perroviejo666 type 4&5 are slow lumbering heavy tanks with no gun depression. This is a relatively mobile medium tank with 9deg of gun depression with spaced armor on the front. Comparing apples to oranges my friend
I like the AVRE. But then I barely play tier 10 even after nearly 9yrs. I agree with what you say, it makes me able to play tier 10. But then I do have an idea where to go and what to do. I see quite a few do shockingly in them, which suggests it isn't just point and click. It can be a remarkable "skill leveller" though. :o)

Great video, tier X WW2 has been broken for some time with the amount of free / reward tier X tanks. This adds just another level of broken gameplay, but as you point out, this is the first aim and shoot type of tank which defeats entirely the point of having armour.
Do I feel sorry for those driving around in their Taran, Andre the Giant and Object 279e? Don't be silly but sure tech tree tanks across tiers 8 and up didn't sign up for this and don't deserve it.
WG doesn't care and are very aware of what they are doing. It is about making money short term, that's it and there is no such thing as the long term health of the game to worry about.
Strangely, I feel something similar is needed at Era 3 cold war - basically a relatively slow moving beast which slaps tanks for 1400 dmg. Needed because Era 3 is just about one wolf pack overwhelming another, with little thought given to anything else. Pace needs to be slowed down - if only they gave the Thumper 1400 alpha...!
Cutting insight into the 'current' game. Full disclosure I hate Tier 10 because of the stats knowledge and Pek a boo game style. Tier 10 wrecks Tier 8 because you get a Tiered up so often and I like my Tier 8 tanks. This is just another tank to add to the list of tanks WG has released that make no sense to players. It must have been obvious to any "tester" that this tank has issues. It is a virtual repeat of the CW Armadillo. There have been changes at WG with long time staff leaving so it begs the question who is now making the strategic decisions at Console Head Office and what path are they taking the two games. And CW and WWII mode are two different games. Trust is a word I no longer think of when it comes to WG decision making. Good video I hope you keep this kind of thought provoking reviews every now and then thru out 2023

In Cold War it is the FV ,it is absolute shocking how any of the FV is driving around and it is a absolute brainless tank same like this one .
But the era base match maker helps a lots in my opion and also that a lot off WW2 player how are just want to grind silver are driving around.
If the FV would be a reward tank only for players how earnd over a lot of challenges it would be a absolute nightmare.
It is already a pain like it is.

Before I say what I want to say, let me first start off with that yes, I think this is a complete mishandle of judgment on WarGaming's part. To make a tier 10 as a reward for legit spending 6000 gold is insane.
Now, for the controversial part: I can't get too mad. While the gun and frontal armor are a serious threat (more-so towards the gun aspect), it has flaws. The turning speed, gun depression, and shell velocity (which I'm surprised nobody is talking about) are the biggest weaknesses in my opinion.
Riki looked at its most powerful aspect, the gun, without going over all the other stats. These other stats are a hinder, not a positive outlook, on this tank,
Yes but stuff like shell velocity and turning speed doesn't matter when you brawl with people close range or when u shoot a stationary target from 500 meters away. It's not a sniping medium so focusing on those stats are pointless. It's a bunker buster. A heavium with a deathstar's gun. And I've seen skilled people use this tank and trust me, this thing is overpowered when you watch them play. Yes it has flaws I know but it's flaws are too minuscule compared to other tank's flaws like the Wt auf e100 and the fv4005.
I’ve just now started playing tier 9 tanks and I see at least 2 of these in EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MATCH. I see them and just avoid that area of the map completely. Have insane frontal armor and a “derp” gun that has more pen than my APCR rounds and literally 7x the alpha damage. Absolutely fucking ridiculous.

It’s no different to there normal behaviour. I remember when the 279e came out. Valour was a season pass tank. 268 5 t95e6. All of them are nightmares in the beginning.

I had a hard time writing this reply. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and try to catch as many live-streams as I can. But I found this video... disappointing. Not so much for the content per se, but for its tone. What I took away from the video was that novice players shouldn’t have access to a tank like this, and I count myself among that group, as I have only been playing CW religiously for about 14 months, and WW2 since the beginning of the New Year.
The first season on WoT Console that I completed fully was the British one, just over a year ago, where one of the reward tanks was the still controversial FV4211. It was my first Era 2, and remained so for many months afterwards. Probably not the most realistic introduction to Era 2, but as we all learned, the FV is very strong, but it isn’t infallible, it does have its weak spots, which we all had to learn to either exploit or minimize. It’ll be the same with the AVRE, after all the winging has settled down about how OP it seems right after introduction. It will all be about learning how to defeat it, no different than the 4211 or the Shit Barn, without getting insta-deleted in return. A learning curve for everybody, including the novice players. It probably would have been better if WG had switched the positions of the AVRE & Action X, and made the AVRE a Level 100 reward instead, at least that way everyone would have to work through the season to get it, instead of plunking down 6,000 gold for it.

Bear in mind that while it's 6k gold... you will get at least 2k back from the season pass rewards 😶. So the tank is 4k or less...

I realise it matters not one bit to Wargaming, but the AVRE has no business being anywhere near WW2 game play. Historically, the thing didn’t enter service until 1962, as a replacement for the Churchill AVRE. You could also make the argument that it’s not a tank in the traditional sense, it’s a demolition tool used for knocking down bridges and clearing debris from MSRs. If Wargaming wants to try to look authentic, then fit it with its original Petard gun, max range about 100 metres and was externally loaded. Write that into the game mechanics and see if there’s an uptake in sales. You’ll get to fire 1 round, probably miss then spend the rest of the game hiding while you watch the reload counter tick down from 10 minutes.
I played with Valour, perfect hulldown but met 3-4 AVRE at same time, instantly died. LoL !!!
The OBJ 780 was last season Tier 10 heavy Tank where it should be sniping that's how you play the OBJ 780 I got it and sold it after playing it for a few games. Also OBJ 780 is a match box heavy Tank the faul Tanks and engine are in the front of the tank upper and lower plate of the tank
Sniping is not how you play the 780 as someone with 2 marks I play mid to close with it

Just faced platoon of 2 of these. Might as well leave the controller and wait for the match to be over. I have no way of fighting these prem ammo or not.

I think this problem could've been somewhat mitigated by making this tank the reward for completing the season instead of the ultimate season pass tank. At least the 780 had to be worked for enough to where a brand new player probably couldn't get one (and the 780 is a fairly balanced tank)

I went back to playing tiers 5-7 until all of these derpfests quit, I was in a tier 10 game soon after it was released where 12 of the 15 tanks per side were AVRE's and I was in a tier 8 medium. Not fun at all

I've been in T10 games with as many as 6 AVRE on the other side - absolutely no fun. I understand that WOT may not be willing to nerf this monster - since folks plunked down serious money for it - how about -- LIMIT the number available to play in any single game -- if a side as one - okay -- maybe even two but cap the number available OR - create a separate que for only AVRE - play 3V3 or what ever on Himmelsdorf as much as they'd like.
I agree this free tank is broken , pick it up and play and dominate , the only counter is the IS7 , ram the avre , then plow shells into their side , I always hunt the avre tanks and annoy them , I grinded a lot to get the tier 10 , IS7 , as a reward tank like the machine or object 279e , it feels unbalanced ,

I dunno. I think you are giving it too much credit. It has meh pen, the slowest round of anything not called artillery, and has a lengthy reload. FV4005 way stronger IMO. Can you have good games? Sure. But every tank they bring out has good games before they shadow nerf it with only T10 matchmaking. The only thing making it good is fighting T8 & 9 tanks. I have personally had no issue fighting this tank. It either nukes you or it low rolls but either way it dies during its reload.
It’s a good thing that. People don’t have to no life the game to get Thai tank. Things like that make the game unbearable for normal players. The tank isn’t that hard to play against. Especially if you aren’t stupid

I've been playing this game since 2013 , the game has been trashed since tier 10's are easily accessible to players with little experience . Playing tier 10 is completely garbage . A medium tank that can out damage a tank destroyer with one hit and a turret that will bounce 300 + pen. straight on! This move has demolished the game in my opinion!
Perhaps more annoying so far is whether I shot AP, APCR, or HEAT I had trouble penning front or even side of turret. I get the scoop acts as spaced armor but RNG seemed to favor these things last weekend. Currently I feel they are bigger cancers to game than arty or your stupid wheeled cars.
It should be an era 1 cold war tank, it wasn't even produced until 1963 and as you've said, it's basically broken for tier 10, ruins the game for WW2 players
I agree about it being CW but not on the basis of it's production because using that logic a lot of the tier 9-10 mediums would need to be removed from WW2.

It’s a stupid tank that should never have been put into the game as it is or practically gave away. Having said that I would gladly play a game with an AVRE in it rather than arty. Arty is the most toxic tank in ww2 because if they decide to focus on you for the entire match, there’s nothing you can do about it. At least you can fire back at an AVRE or at least have the chance to.
We got the Taran, which is a TD, AVRE, which is a medium, but can stay back and do a TD's job.
Then It's just stupid that they "killed" the FV4005, FV215B 183, and the WT AUF E 100.
And then release those two...
But its Wargaming in a nutshell, as long they have a majority that priorities quantity over quality or in other terms, a balanced game, they give a s..t. Especially if there's huge dollars on the horizon.
It's a disgrace for the whole World of tanks as a game, that they think it's OK that let's say 200 players in Taran and AVRE can ruin the fun enjoyable game for hundreds or possibly thousands of other players from Tier IX and down to Tier VIII!

One wg plz limit the amount of these things in one game/teams their is no excuse to be seeing 7of these things on one team and 5,6 or 8 on the other out of all the their 10 games I have played these tanks were their the only games their were not in I can count one hand this thing is filthy just the other day I was playing this tank their were like five of these on my team and two on their team we were playing fishermen's bay I went city along with the avre's and some heavies a vk comes around the corner to see what's up get spotted and with 7 seconds gets shredded by every avre he didn't get to shoot once all of it was splash no penetration maximum armor pointed at them and it did not matter I will play for team he said nope I will get shredded and sent back to the hanger within 7 seconds sounds good doesn't it as much as I like the avre we can sugar coat it all we want but the bottom line this thing is a problem when you allow so many of them in a game the tem with most of these thing is going to win that is what it has become if their is like one or two of these things on a team when I have played their wasn't that big of an issue people can push you when your reloading hit your weak spots which are your commanders hatch and lowered front plate if you can hit it but if you are for say an e3/e4 it don't matter you just go through the front plate even when you hit the shovel atleast that is what has happened to I am sorry if this comment is to long I honestly had to say this if anyone I will appreciate it a lot

This tank has ruined tier 10 I can be hull down in a obj 705a or s conq and take 500 damage from an avre dead on full fron turret armor, no skill required. There's 5+ in over half the matches I join.

Imo they are trying to force ww2 players to play cold war.
I don't understand what this tank does that tanks like the 4005, FV215b 183, Type 5 Heavy, and Sturmtiger don't already do. It's just as slow, it's more poorly armored than any of them, has a similar 2~ish RPM base reload time, etc. To me it seems that its only real crime was being available to inexperienced players who whip out their wallet. Do you have complaints about the CATTB Thumper as well, considering that it's also practically a top tier RB/RT machine? Because of true vision I would rather deal with this thing as a tier VIII in WW2 than the 4005 in Era 1.
It's notably faster than all the tanks you mentioned, better armored than the 4005 and harder to hit due to it's lower profile, arguably better armored than the 183 (particularly in the area of a smaller weak point on it's lower plate and spaced armor) and has better vision range than either the 4005 or 183 and better camo than both. Better camo than the Sturm, faster aim time, and more flexible given it's turret and gun depression. Far far faster than the Type 5, the ability to actually use ridges, far better camo and 100mm more standard round penetration for more alpha.

Those tanks are balanced by being big slow and blind making it easy to out maneuver them. The AVRE has none of those draw backs. It's a mobile death star with trollish armor.
Yup, skillfree tank, like the 4211. So skillfree players can have good games. It keeps them from having to learn how to play.
I’m more concerned with the game it was wrecked with WOT began selling hacks. It’s ruined this game and it screwed anyone not buying hacks. I’ve played this game for 9 years and this is a real shame to see the direction this game is going. I’m just fed up with all the cheating going on with hack, game rigging players. I enjoy playing I’m just hoping they can create a more enjoyable experience.
They probably won't man. War stories was the last update they did before they started giving these weird and somewhat BS tanks to people in the stores. I don't think it'll ever get back to the time of the 360 version or the beginning of the Xbox one version. Damn. I still remember the reveal. The new graphics were insane. They had passion then.

No different from any other Derp tank. Punchy but weak. Giving a TierX tank away for 6k gold... now that's a problem for the 'quality' of higher tier games.
It's almost as bad as the FV4211
This tank fills two roles imo. The first, a reward for having to go up against type 5 heavies as a tier 8 (you all know that pain). The second as kinda like "Revenge of the Noobs" in the sense that new players can now face r*pe that same type 5 heavy. I find it to be quite amusing watching the super heavies having to be careful again knowing there is a tank out there which does more than scratch their paint.
On the flip side the AVRE has some serious flaws, like the gun depression over the dozer/mine blades or the slow reload times. It can also be easily circled by a Light tank (i did so in my xm551) and at the end of the day it is still just a Centurion.
Full disclosure:Like Riki, I also consider myself to be a CW player with the occasional foray into the WW2 zone. I have played the AVRE and while fun and novel, It has flaws and folks will figure them out shortly and the tank will lose some popularity.
To get type 5 heavy you have to grind your a** out to get a very slow, lumbering vehicle, large as a smaller hotel and equally mobile, heavy dependent on your team and map. The AVRE tank represents first seriously bad move since they fired old lead game designer who almost single-handedly destroyed the game (can't recall his stupid nickname...).

Enjoy your videos, but you were wrong on the AMX 13 cw premium ( until you went back and played it)and I believe you are wrong here. They gave the FV for free during a season pass, it didn't break the game and neither will this tank. After a few weeks, you will not see as many. The sturmtiger does the same thing.
