Just wanna share my proud dad moment to my fellow pitching nuts. My son threw a no hitter tonight (1 walk which was 1st batter of the game). Plus an immaculate inning in the 3rd, and finished k’ing the last 9 batters faced (15u, he turns 14 in a few weeks).

He's given up 5 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 games and has an era of about 3.50. When he inevitably puts together a good string of games, he'll be back.

He was strongly considered. The podcast has a lot more discussion. But 5 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 outings and a 3.5 ERA this season kept him off the list for now. Will he be back? Almost definitely once he goes on a good run. His stuff is among the best in baseball as you can see from his advanced stats. But at some point, results on the field matter too.

I think your order of pitchers looked pretty accurate, obviously Skenes is an X Factor. So I thought it was pretty accurate to place him about halfway for now.
Thought Irvin could've been picked to be an All-star, though tonight it didn't look like it.

Eric Orze was the debut I seen yesterday and I felt for the kid 😢 some story and didn’t go well at all but here’s hoping he gets another shot soon his stuff wasn’t horrible but the results were.

I feel like Glasnow should also be in here, even though his ERA is inflated. His FIP is 2.77, which is almost an entire run lower than his actual ERA. He has a WHIP below 1, and he has one of the highest strikeout rates in MLB.

If this was a ranking of the best pitchers this month then I'd understand, but this is a ranking of the best pitchers in MLB so far. Taking only two of his starts where he got blown up should not count as much when he's been absolutely shoving otherwise.

hey ninja, maybe hes like me and he immediately knew the shift was gonna give up runs and he was saying "routine double play if we're in douple play depth" cuz he was pissed they were in the shift which cost him runs on his era and should be a separate era

Love the list ninja but I gotta say Ragans should be higher, Kirby may have struggled early but he deserves some sort of honorable mention or top 10, dude has less than 1 BB/9!! Lastly, Skenes is the goat I’m buying the hype, #1 baby!!

I hope Glasnow sees that you put him in the second tier or lower among power/filthy pitchers. Did he need additional motivation to be filthy? You must think so.
His 3.47 ERA is an issue.
Statistically appropriate response. Nevertheless, Grab a bat , my friend. His Ss, 3b, and 2b are not elite fielders. Two outfielders aren’t even hitting. Defense is an issue for him. Yet, as always, the league will need to grab a bat and show us he is second tier.

I get it. And he was strongly considered on the list for exactly those reasons (and dropped from the list relatively late). It's a mix of subjective and objective. But in the end, it's still tough to put a guy with a 3 and half era on the list--at some point results on the field matter. Can he get there? Absolutely. Is he one of the best pitchers in baseball when he's on? Absolutely. You can have your own top 10 and put 10 Tyler Glasnows on it. It won't hurt my feelings.

If someone came up to me and asked if Glasnow was a top 10 pitcher in MLB, my instant response would be yes he is. But when you actually list it out, it's much tougher. No matter who I left out someone would say...but your list didn't have X on it. Which is why these lists are inevitably controversial.

Picked Skubal for a great year before spring trading, picked Cease for high impact on any team that would take him (San Diego followed your idea. He makes them better). And ….. wears eye liner.

MLB ERA leader isn’t top 10😂😂😂
He is and then isn't the MLB ERA leader depending on what day it is, due to innings/being a qualified starter. It came down to do I really think he's better than Cole Ragans? And I don't. But he certainly "could" be on anyone's list and was originally in my draft of my top 10.
