It's good to hear that some HOAs are being put in check for their stupid rules. There are still some good HOAs not ALL of them are bad.
I'm glad that you live in a good HOA! I always thought that was an oxymoron. Lol.
Try to cover Handicap violators as often as you can. My wife is 100% disabled and I'm 90% Military Service connected disabled. Often people using Handicap parking spaces aren't handicap. I see it way too often. By the way, I'm 90% disabled and cannot legally use handicap parking, so I don't unless my wife is with me.

If I were a tradesman I would not serve anyone who lived in an HOA community with that rule. They don’t want a commerce truck in their community? I will honor that and won’t go there to serve them. I won’t support snobbery. There is enough demand for the services of skilled tradesmen that I would still have no trouble making a living serving other customers.
It's interesting how some homeowners are obsessed with increasing their property values. But often I find that those same homeowners are the most irked by property tax increases due to their home value increasing
Because the property tax went up $50 a month to $600 a year... in 5 years $3000. but my homes value is hundreds of thousnads more..

I will never buy a house with an HOA. Always said that. I don’t like being told what to do. And I sure as hell am not going to drop 6000+ on a paint job every specific amount of years when a house doesn’t need it.
All the men with businesses are going to be putting those HOA houses on the market. Which will lower the prices.

I had an apartment where you were not allowed to carry purchases packed in cardboard box's. They had to be taken or delivered to the basement garage, then to the apartment floor via the good elevator. Now I'm not talking about fridge freezer, I'm talking about kettles, irons, kids pushchairs, small items. So we all unpacked em at the foyer door and put the packing in the small trash can. It took them a month but then they saw sense.
Applying this retroactively would mean that the HOA has to go into the past and allow pickups. That's obviously impossible, and the lawyer knows that.

5:28 if the communities hadn't abused their powers in the first place, then this likely wouldn't have happened. Our HOA used to go after my dad for having a van, it was a Ford Econoline. A Ford Econoline without commercial plates and without advertising is simply not a commercial vehicle, and the HOA lost in court. They tried the same thing with my personal pickup truck which was not lifted and not used for any kind of work purpose, I got it for picking up furniture off of craigslist. They lost in court on that as well. It should never have had to go that far though
My father used to have a 1997 Ford F-150 red pickup truck. He had it for a few years. I think it was traded for a 2002 Jeep. His truck kept on breaking down. I never really got to drive it. I did rode in it a few times.

Im not gonna give even a “good HOA” any powers over my property. I am free to use my property as I see fit. If I want a boat in my yard, long grass, what have you. Property rights are one of the few things that we can still enforce, until we give them away.

I am in an HOA in California (Yea, don't beat me to death over being in California) and there isn't an issue about parking trucks in driveways or in front of the house. There is not a problem of neighbors putting basketball polls and nets in the street in a cul-de-sac either. Very laid back.
I hope he doesn't need a plumber, a/c repair or electrician to fix something at his home.

one of my Dad’s friends moved to his girlfriends condo n florida; they had a rule of either 2 dogs or 3 dogs maximum & somebody ratted him out bc his 3 dogs made them either 1 or 2 over the max. the HOA handed ole girl a fine & an eviction of the overage immediately dogs. i think ole boy brought his dog(s) to his kids, which added 2the drama, my dad ask if i would keep 1 while he was back @ GFs place; *nah, i dont like ur friend or his dog enuf to help out.*

HOA boards are elected. Get involved, organize and change the leadership so rules can be changed. This stupidity happens in HOAs because complacent people allow it.

we know that not all HOAs r the same; we know u know it. when we the masses say HOAs r terrible, we’re talking about the 90% that r terrible, over stepping their bounds, telling ppl that the interior color of their draperies do not conform to the HOA standards, u cannot build a pool n your back yard because victorian homes would not have had a pool n the victorian era, & blah, blah, blah.

The law in my neighborhood (not HOA, the law) says you can't park *COMMERCIAL* vehicles, including pickups, in front of your house.

HOA's are oppressive organisations... the only good part of a HOA is when you have a gated HOA, that is a good idea it restricts who enters and has a register of who does enter who doesnt live there... why would you claim its the land of the free if you getting oppressed by a HOA whom demand you dont park trucks on your drive, dont allow CB antennas for amateur radio enthuiasts, dont allow flags, dont allow dogs, dont allow out door shooting range, dont allow drones flying, dont allow tall trees in gardens...yeah these rules exist ive been to many HOA with idiotic rules, its like being in nazi germany, with residents demanding to see your ID instead of minding their own business and letting me get on with my day.

@@angrydriversattack I lived in a horrible and corrupt HOA in Arizona. They would measure the grass! If it was 1/4" over they'd start the fines. I had to have a complicated surgery and we had to go out of state for a couple of months. They knew all about it. When we got back we had thousands of dollars of fines. They knew but didn't care at all. Horrible people!
