  • A student finally showed up with a new Indian Challenger at my Ride Like a Pro class yesterday. In this video, you'll see me taking the Challenger through the exercises and my evaluation of the bike's low speed maneuverability. Of course, you'll see the other riders going through the course as well.

Bought a Chieftain last June. Got a great dealership here in Winnipeg, Manitoba......I did 5+ hours of demo riding on the Chieftain and Challenger. I found for me i much preferred the low speed handling of the Chieftain. Voted with my wallet. This is my first cruiser and coming from a sport tourer (concours14) the low speed handling has been a bit of a challenge. Still a work in progress. Been riding for 50 years. It just simply different. I found i was more confident with the Chieftain plus I simply liked the old school aspect compared to the Challenger. Bought several of your videos and the book and they're helpful. Hope one day to attend one of your courses.

I have a DCT Wing and I agree with you 100% Motorman. I have taken the class on my 08 Wing and my DCT. I feel like the 1500 to 2000 rpm range and using the brake is hard on the motorcycle unlike using the friction zone of the clutch. I love the DCT but regularly tell folks if you enjoy chasing cones in parking lots, get a bike with a clutch...

I was actually considering a Victory when they pulled the plug in favor of concentrating on the Pretindian brand .
The new bikes under the Indian brand may be good but I'm annoyed at them buying a brand name that is one of the most significant in motorcycling history .
If I ever found a pre 53 Indian I'd love to own one .
I'm also not into the Triumph reboots because I owned a 78 Bonneville that although it had its issues as did my 74 Norton Commando they were fantastic bikes .
Victory had built a decent following and weren't trying to live off a brand that had been Dead for 60 plus year's .
Now this is just my opinion but in no way do I judge people that ride Indians or Triumphs etc .
Although of the 36 bikes I've owned most of which were Japanese models my present Harley Dyna that I've got 60,000 Miles on impresses me with it's reliability and the little things like self cancelling turn signals that really never seemed like a big deal but makes daily riding much more convenient.
If I was buying a new bike at this point in time it would likely be the Bmw r18 because I've always wanted a BMW Airhead and the R18 is the king of all Airheads lol

Something someone would have to consider if the bike didn't fit them if they we shorter than then ergonomics the bike was designed around. Conversely if you are tall, changes would have to be made too. See Traveling Tall's video on that bike.

Jerry is a Harley guy and leans towards Harley....I have not heard him be negative towards ANY brand. I am a Honda guy ( I do not really care for Harley)who ABSOLUTELY loves Indians.
