    I recently purchased my first Indian, a 2019 Leftover Chief Vintage. Never expected to be able to own such a nice bike. I have had Harleys, Triumphs, all the major metric bikes and nothing prepared me for the Indian. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Can't say enough about it.

    My dad bought one of these for himself back for on Xmas, and he loves that thing. I have ridden quite a few times myself,and its a very smooth yet powerful bike. We've changed a few things on it (cause we can never leave anything alone) but we changed the bars, speakers( cause who doesn't like more sound?) it also has an intake, and a tune from Indian, and also aftermarket slip ons from tab. So, having been an Indian owner (had a Chieftain for about 6 months loved it, just get bored quick with bikes) and becoming a salesman at our local dealer for Indian, I was excited about the Challenger. Didn't test ride one until February, after about 5-6 months of having the Chieftain. I was blown away. Initial impressions on the looks were slowly growing on me. But what it can do speaks for what the bike is. Sport touring performance (almost) in an American V-Twin.

Indian Motorcycles have caught my eye big time with their maintenance free design and ease of doing oil changes, gear drive primarily, single oil fill, and fully counter balanced engine. The push button start of both the oil/air & now the liquid cooled challenger is miles ahead of Harley-Davidson in smoothness as well as full LED lighting.

    Rode one at a demo day not too long after I had bought my street glide and all I can say is the whole time I was riding it all I was thinking was how much they’d give me on trade. I loved it. Like you said it’s smooth, comfortable, already has LED lighting, and that electric windshield is great. Sound system puts my Harley’s to shame. Don’t get me wrong I love my Harley but if I were to buy again this would be what I’d get. If your in the market for a touring bike check this out.

    You may have the cylinder deactivation mode which will make it sound like it’s going to turn off when your idol but as soon as you hit the throttle the cylinder activate and you’re able to drive off before power. The goal intent is to lower the heat of the cylinder hitch for a more comfortable ride.

    I have a 2020 Street Glide Special and I love it, but Indian does some things that I really like. Indian from the factory, I think, comes ready to ride without much customization needed. It has premium breaks, better suspension, especially in the front end. I also like the setup of the infotainment system better, it is much more intuitive and user friendly. I do think that if you are buying a bike and you want to customize it and make it yours the Harley is the better option there is more aftermarket applications for the Harley.

    • @3dee106
      @3dee106 Před 4 lety +2

      You're bang on with that one. Definitely more aftermarket support but Indian under Polaris is still young so I'm sure that will grow too. But for the equal amount of money Indian does really give way more from the factory. Suspension alone compared to Harley

    Not an Indian fan but it looks like a pretty solid offering. I have a few friends who ride Indian and who love their bikes. The inner fairing looks like a boom box, hahah. Still super happy with H-D and my '09 FXDL. The hordes of anti H-D trolls convince me that I'm in the right place, ya know? Can't see myself riding anything else. Keep up the good work brother!

    I have a 2019 Indian Chief Dark Horse. just like the challenger models, it has the rear cylinder deactivation when your in a low gear or idle. I believe that odd noise you were hearing when you were sitting at the traffic light was the one cylinder running, which changed the tone of the engine.

    I think the idle sound you heard was the rear cylinder de-activating to dissipate heat. It's designed that way. You can supposedly shut it off in the infotainment system.

    I think it reminds me more of a Victory Vision than a road glide. I can see owning one of these down the road. I'm digging that cockpit view. One thing Harley does better is the finish of say items like the inner fairing and controls, that gloss black on their inner fairing of the Roadglide special looks really high end. If Indian upped their game in that dept it would be a perfect bike. Perhaps its the colors they chose but it gives it more of a cheaper, plastic look. A minor gripe though for sure.

    Harley you pay premium prices but the tech and horsepower are not there. Harley is like GM of the 1960’s, “the public will buy anything we make.”

    Those speakers look ginormous lol I'd say. That's one smooth looking bike for sure. Harley better keep stepping up. Nice thought about the storage compartment, opening top down might help keep stuff from falling out too. Radio sounded nice, for sure. Looks like it would be a tough call between this and a Road Glide or SG.
