i studied in córdoba argentina and this is it! the accent is soooo hard to understand at first but honestly for me it was the best immersion practice - starting with the hardest lol

Córdoba accent is totally different
I remember I had an English teacher in school (like 15 years ago) and she was from Cordoba, and was very funny to listen to her speaking Enlgish with accent from Cordoba.
Cordoba is like a different state , their accent is cool and pretty distinct .. here, we really like them.
I talked to an Argentinan girl speak, all of a sudden I wondered why she was saying somethings in Brazilian Portuguese.

I think Argentinians understand Brazilian Portuguese, more so than other Latinos. That is my guess anyway.

@@mmlemonade Argentinian here, can confirm, we even have a name for the mixture of Español and Brazilian which we call Portuñol (PORTUgues espaÑOL). We can understand brazilians unless they speak toooo fast

@@mmlemonade all the provinces has his own accent and it's similar with the accent of other countries, for example, in mendoza the accent sounds like a chilean, in formosa and misiones like paraguay, jujuy and salta like bolivia

I like the Argentinian accent! I think it sounds cute!🤗 I'm from the States and I study Spanish. Most of the Spanish speakers that I meet speak 🇲🇽 Spanish. But I do appreciate other varieties of Spanish.
@@kmross73 Thank you very much :D I guess that one of the funniest things about our accent is the slang. Basically, neutral spanish won't help you a lot because we've got a lot of phrases that literally make no sense in other spanish speaking countries xD

I am half Argentinian on my dad's side and i speak fluently but because I was born and raised in England I have an English accent. So here I am learning to do an Argentinian accent for a self-tape audition!

The huge Italian emigration left gifts of words and pronunciation. At the beginning of the 1900s in Buenos Aires, in the port districts like Boca there were at least 500,000 Italians, most of them originating from the Genoa region in northern Italy.
The influence of the cadence of Castilian by the Genoese dialect was great. Just think that the word "pibe" which in Baires means "boy" comes from the Genoese "pivèl" which has the same meaning. In the early 1900s, during an election campaign, a Spanish-speaking candidate held a meeting in Boca translated into Genoese !.
Near the city of Venice in Italy there is a small town named Chioggia. It was formed by Genoese prisoners who had lost a battle with Venice. Today they have the same chant of the Argentine language!
Other gifts from the northern Italian language include the ringing S and at least 30% of the words in Baires' slang, Lunfardo, whose name derives from "Lombardo" or a person who comes from Lombardy.
Lunfardo was the tango language invented by the Italians. Cocoliche was also spoken in Baires, which is a very Italianized Spanish language, and was born from the effort of the Italian emigrants to speak a language very similar to theirs, Spanish. Today 60% of the Argentine population is of Italian origin.

This was awesome. On the vowel changes, I learned that the hard way when visiting Argentina, but didn’t understand til now! My hubby’s uncle said “nunca habli”. I knew he meant, “hable” (“I said”), i just couldn’t understand it and my hubby couldn’t explain it. Thanks!!
A fun note- there is a phrase “noni noni” which is a way of saying “nite nite” to babies. It was actually written on a new baby mattress. It was the only time I’d ever heard/seen outside of my hubby saying it to our baby.

I’m Argentinian but I live in California since 2001. And the funny part is even tho I speak English and “ I know I have an accent “””” the can tell I’m Argentinian right away. Some American people think I’m Italian for the accent also, and to be honest in my 30 years living in argentina I never noticed that we speak with Italian accent until I saw an American documentary about Argentina.
In reality there is no need for us to analyze that, we just speak, that’s it.
But yes depending where you go is funny how the language sounds.

Another interesting accent to cover would be the Equatorial Guinean Spanish accent..I have noticed that their accent has elements of Castillian Spanish mixed with local African languages such as Fang..

The transformation of -os in -oy, -as in ay and -es in -i is very interesting. The same change happened in the vulgar Latin spoken in Italy at the beginning of the middle age. For this reason we don't have the plural -s like the others romance languages

I came to the u.s with my parents from Argentina when I was 5 but my parents always made sure I knew Spanish and particularly ours and I showed my dad your vid he’s your accent is pretty good
But he says the shh can vary by province and if you go more up north it’s not heard that much, my dad was from mission and he says there you hear a lot more natural y sounds

Awesome! I'm from Córdoba and I can tell you nailed it in general with your observations and impressions, but in particular in cordobés accent you are absolutely right. There's also kind of socioeconomical aspects of what you say. The most "cordobés" your accent is, the less "formal", or the less proper to be used in more "sophisticated" contexts. Sadly...

Para generar el acento "cordoooobés", tenés que alargar la vocal anterior a la sílaba acentuada. Así que si te venís a Córdoba, "te venís al parque Sarmiento y te clavás un choriiipan del Dante!" Probá ;)!
